Kalmegh (Andrographis paniculata Nees.) is known as king of bitterness, Kalmegh is used as traditional medicine for curing different ailments and is known for its wide medicinal properties. The whole herb is used for herbal cure at Andaman Islands and is grown in homestead gardens, An attempt was made to study the phytochemical composition and andrographolide content of both leaves and stem extracts. Methanolic extract yielded maximum total phenols in both leaf (24.18 mg/g) and stem extract (27.35 mg/g). Flavonoid content was also maximum in methanolic extract of leaf (52.57 mg/g) and stem (71.82 mg/g) of A. paniculata. Highest DPPH activity was found in methanolic extract in both leaf (7.08 mg BHT/g) and stem samples (7.15 mg BHT/g). The NO activity was highest in ethanolic extract in both leaf (13.85 mg vit C/g) and stem (12.86 mg Vit C/g). The methanol extract of leaf (14.65 mg EDTA/g) and stem (12.85 mg EDTA/g) showed higher chelating activity. The acetone extract of stem (3.16 mg vit c/g) and leaf (2.97 mg vit c/g) of Kalmegh showed effective reduction in the activity of hydrogen peroxide. Andrographolide content was maximum in leaf (3.49%) followed by stem (1.59%).

The experimental result revealed that different planting geometry and level of nitrogen had a remarkable influence on almost all the growth characters and yield of rice. Growth characters, viz. plant height, number of tillers/m2, Leaf area index, dry matter accumulation/m2 were increased significantly with the increasing level of nitrogen from 0 to 180 kg/ha in both of year. On the other hand, plant spacing (20cm x 10cm) and produced significantly higher grain yield (3.95 t/ha in 2017 and 4.65 t/ha in 2018). The highest grain and straw yields were recorded with the treatment of 20 cm × 10 cm plant spacing and 180 kg N/ha in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

A study was conducted to assess the extent of the heterosis for sixteen yield and yield-attributing traits in four cotton hybrids (each having P1, P2, F1, F2, BC1 and BC2 generations) obtained by crossing four interspecific lines of desi cotton in a compact family block design with three replications during kharif 2017-18. Highly significant and positive relative heterosis, heterobeltiosis and inbreeding depression were recorded in most of the crosses. For seed cotton yield per plant, positive and highly significant relative heterosis, heterobeltiosis and inbreeding depression were recorded in all the four crosses indicated major role of non-additive gene actions in the inheritance of seed cotton yield per plant and its attributes, while cross III (GShv 362/12 x PA 812) recorded the highest heterotic effect among all crosses which also performed well for monopodia per plant, average boll weight, lint yield per plant, ginning percentage, lint index, fibre fineness and fibre strength.

Tomato leaf minor was present throughout the crop duration; larvae can infest leaves flowers etc. causing important losses in Tomato. This study was carried out in College of Agriculture, Indore field. The population counted on 5 plants at 1, 3, 5, 7 and 10 day after each spray. Efficacy of Chlorfenapyr 240 SC 480 ml/ha was show more reduction in leaf minor population as compared to Cyantraniliprole and Dimethoate. The treatement T5-Chlorfenapyr 240 SC show high population reduction (93.00%) followed by T4-Chlorfenapyr 240 SC @ 288 g a.i./ha (90.91%), T3-Chlorfenapyr 240 SC @ 240 g a.i./ha (90.46%), T6-Cynantraniliprole 10.26% OD 100 ml/ha (89.70%), T2-Chlorfenapyr 240 SC @ 192 g a.i./ha (89.40%), T7-Dimethoate 30% EC @ 150 gm/ha (88.43%). The investigation was carried out at Dinkar Research Farm, Isarwada (Gujarat) during late kharif/rabi 2020-21 in Randomized Block Design with three replications. The experimental material comprised of nine genotypes. The analysis of variance revealed that mean sum of square due to genotype was highly significant for eight characters studied. High phenotypic and genotypic coefficients of variation observed for Plant height, Number of fruits per plant and Fruit yield per plant. High heritability coupled with high genetic advance as per cent of mean were observed for Plant height, Number of branches per plant, Number of fruits per plant, Fruit length, Fruit diameter and Fruit yield per plant suggested that genotypic variation for the characters is probably attributed to high additive genetic effect and selection would be rewarding based on phenotypic performance.

Alternaria blight of is an important disease of Linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) that hampers its productivity and oil content. During severe infections, spots coalesced and covered the large area of the leaves. Field experiments were conducted during 2015-16 and 2016-17 to evaluate the performance of promising lines/varieties of linseed against Alternaria blight disease. Microscopic examination of pathogens in diseased tissue reveled that Alternaria linicola Groves & Skolko and Alternaria lini Dey were two fungi associated with the spots on leaves and capsules. Studies of relative dominance of pathogens associated with the diseased tissue revealed the dominance of Alternaria linicola (95.86-98.63%) in comparison to Alternaria lini (1.31-4.14%) during different growth period of linseed crop. Sixty-three genotypes were evaluated against this disease under artificial epiphytotic condition to known the level of resistance and susceptibility in different genotypes under artificial inoculated conditions. Out of Sixty-three genotypes screened, 2 genotypes namely –LCK-152, LCK-7002, rated as resistant, under both the years. While 4 genotypes namely- BUAPUR LOCAL, CR-M-6X22-9, EC-9832, OLC-48 in 2015-16 and 3 genotypes in 2016-17 rated under highly susceptible lines against this disease.
