Stenotrophomonas is a gram negative non-fermentative bacillus that is ubiquitous in the environment and is increasingly recognized as a cause of serious infections in hospitalized patients. Meningitis secondary to S.maltophilia has rarely been described. We report a patient who developed meningitis due to these bacteria after a neurosurgical procedure. This strain was only sensitive to co-trimoxazole and ciprofloxacin. The patient was discharged after recovery.

Oranges are a nutritious and delicious source of dozens of nutrients, namely Vitamin C, fiber, Potassium and antioxidants amongst several others. However, much like most other fruits, after 2-3 weeks of plucking, oranges start going bad. They start by going soft and soon after, discoloration starts taking place. Candida is a highly infectious genus of yeasts, known particularly for causing Candidiasis, amongst other skin fungal infections in humans. They are gram positive, ovoid shaped budding yeast fungi. For the purpose of this project, such an orange was taken and a suspension was made of the spoilt fruit with distilled water. This suspension was serial diluted and the subsequently formed solutions were spread on several agar bases, the colonies formed isolated and gram stained to identify the exact species of bacteria, fungi or yeast present in the sample. Further the isolates showing traits characteristic of Candida, a highly infectious type of fungus, were subjected to further biochemical tests to determine the exact subspecies of Candida present in the sample. Today, with the youth being highly immunocompromised, such fungi pose extreme risk if consumed. Such a study could promote more thorough hygiene practices and spread awareness of the harmful microbial particles we consume, if we consume spoiled or dirty fruits.

This study was designed to assess the physico-chemical characteristics of Cauvery river three stations (S1- Sozhasiramani dam (Polluted), S2- –Maynor Dam (Less Polluted) and S3- Mettur Dam (Free from Pollution.) during the study period December 2021 to May 2022. The parameters were analysed such as Temperature, transparency, Total hardness, pH, DO2, BOD, Phosphate, Nitrate, Nitrite, Ammonia, Slicate and CR, NPP, GPP. This study concluded that the water quality of three reservoir of Cauvery River during the study period revealed that the three stations (Sozhasiramani dam, Mayanur dam and Mettur dam). Among these reservoir Mayanur dam and Mettur dam could be rated for good quality of water, which is suitable for consuming purpose but Sozhasiramani dam receiving some of the unauthorized textile dyeing and bleaching units in Eroad and Pallipalayam in above units discharge treated and untreated effluent into the municipal drain along with the domestic sewage reached the river cauvery in station 1 is highly polluted, then the other two stations.

Platycodon grandiflorus is a traditional food with excellent medicinal properties, such as promotion of lung health, expectorants, and cough suppression. Various studies have found that saponins, the main chemical component of Platycodon grandiflorus, are very effective against many inflammatory conditions, including mastitis, dermatitis, and laryngitis. However, the treatment of gouty arthritis with Platycodon grandiflorus saponins has not yet been reported and their mechanism of action have not been systematically investigated. In this study, a mouse model of gouty arthritis was established, and mice were treated with gavage for seven days in the blank, model, colchicine (1 mg/kg), and Platycodon grandiflorus saponin (12.5 mg/kg, 25 mg/kg, 50 mg/kg) groups. MSU was sterilized and injected into the joints on the fifth day. The anti-inflammatory effect of PGS in the treatment of gouty arthritis was illustrated by measuring the degree of joint swelling, serum inflammatory factors (IL-6, IL-1β, TNF-α), peroxides (SOD, MDA, GSH-PX), joint histopathology, and characterization of related proteins. The results show that PGS was effective in reducing swelling and lowering IL-1β (181.49 vs. 161.01), IL-6 (273.10 vs. 241.69), TNG-α (637.89 vs. 455.80), and peroxide levels, presumably by a mechanism related to the reduction of proteins on the NLRP3/ASC/caspase-1 pathway.

The Republic of Uzbekistan is a country specializing in agriculture, with favorable climatic conditions that allow high yields of almost all types of crops.At the moment, in our republic, 1 million 387 thousand hectares of land is used for growing cotton, about 1 million 700 thousand hectares of grain products (including 1 million 200 thousand hectares of irrigated areas), more than 560 thousand hectares of fruits and vegetables and products horticulture, and 967.8 1000 hectares are specialized in growing fodder plants. In the absence of large losses in the cultivation and storage of agricultural products, this amount of land would be enough to freely provide the population of the republic with food and technical raw materials and export some of the products. This article provides analytical information about the work carried out on the basis of the entomopathogenic bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis in the protection of agricultural crops from harmful insects. Information is also provided on the production of b-exotoxin, L-exotoxin, a-exotoxin, U-exotoxin, crystalline d-endotoxin and their classification.

Ultraviolet (UV) radiations are carcinogenic, repeated UV exposure causes damage to skin cells and leads to develop skin cancer. Present research work has been undertaken to develop eco-friendly Bacofabric blend of Organic cotton and Banana having UV protective action along with good colorfastness properties by extracting the dyes using Terminalia arjuna at various dyeing concentrations. Optimal results were achieved by dyeing at 80 °C for 90 minutes using the pre-mordanting method with different mordants. The developed dyed samples very good results in terms of colour fastness to washing and sunlight.Findings showed that the mordanted samples have high dye uptake with excellent UPF values. These results are very important for industrial application with the application of Terminalia arjunadye on Baco fabric in providing UV protection to textiles for varied end uses.

The pot culture experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2019-20 in the Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani to evaluate the response of ginger to graded levels of zinc and zinc solubilizing biofertilizers. Experiment consist of sixteen treatment combinations which includes four zinc solubilizing cultures (Control, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Pseudomonas striata, and Trichoderma viride) and four levels of zinc (0, 20, 30 and 40 kg ZnSO4 ha-1) in factorial complete randomized design. The results emerged out indicated significant effect of zinc solubilizing cultures particularly Pseudomonas striata and zinc level upto 40 kg ZnSO4 ha-1 on plant height, number of leaves, leaf area and rhizome yield of ginger over the other treatments. Effect of zinc solubilizing cultures i.e. Pseudomonas striata noted maximum plant height (37.06-49.59-60.84 cm for 90,150 and 210 days).The zinc level @ 40 kg ZnSO4 ha-1 was having better effect on plant height (34.83-47.38-57.84 cm for 90,150 and 210 days) zinc solubilizers influenced the number of leaves of ginger plant at various growth stages and was recorded stage wise in the range between 10.55 to 15.62, 16.64 to 21.59 and 20.50 to 25.54 at 90, 150 and 210 days respectively. Significantly highest leaf area noted in pot treated with Pseudomonas strita (32.11-33.33-34.76 cm2) and significant effect of levels of zinc up to 40 kg ha-1 have influenced on leaf area and noted highest in 40 kg ha-1 ZnSO4 (28.71-30.56-32.08 cm2). The highest rhizome yield was found in pots inoculated with Pseudomonas striata (374.72 g pot-1) and zinc level @40 kg ZnSO4 ha-1 (355.78g pot-1).

Significantly highest leaf area noted in pot treated with Pseudomonas strita (32.11-33.33-34.76 cm2) and significant effect of levels of zinc up to 40 kg ha-1 have influenced on leaf area and noted highest in 40 kg ha-1 ZnSO4 (28.71-30.56-32.08 cm2). Unani System of Medicine (USM) is one of the Traditional System of Medicine (TSM), based on the drugs originated from plants, animals and minerals. Cardioprotective Unani drug, Saad Kufi (Cyperus scariosus R. Br.), mentioned by the intellectual colossus Ibn Sina (Avicenna) 1000 years back in his book, “Risala al Adwiya al Qalbiya” and still widely used by Unani physicians. This review, briefly describes the potential benefits and uses of a traditional medicinal plant “Saad Kufi”. The database such as PubMed was extensively explored. Additionally, Unani Pharmacopoeia of India was consulted along with the relevant classical documents and textbooks to summarize most of the considerable scientific literature for the review.

Nutritionists view pulses as a crucial component of a balanced diet. However, the supply of pulses per person is decreasing as the world's population grows. To meet the growing population's need for protein, the output of pulses must be expanded. Pulses were raised in soils with inadequate nutrient management and low fertility. Research demonstrates that adding organic manure to the soil enhances the soil's physical characteristics as well as its fertility condition. The production and financial returns will undoubtedly rise with careful nutrient management that includes both organic manure and inorganic fertilizers. As a consequence, the cost of nutrient consumption will be significantly reduced, and nutrient utilization efficiency will increase.

A nondescript female dog was presented at MSVH, Kudappanakunnu with limbing and swelling of right forelimb with a history of fall from first floor. Anterio-posterior view on x ray revealed Salter Harris-IV fracture of distal condyle of right humerus with dislocation of the main bone. Taking all the aseptic precautions under general anaesthesia, surgical intervention was given and fracture was corrected. Surgical wound was sutured in standard routine manner. Uneventful recovery marked successful surgical intervention.
