Synthesis of Acids and Amino Acids by Selective Oxidation of Primary Hydroxyl Groups to Carboxylic acids in Sugars. 糖中伯羟基选择性氧化生成羧酸合成酸和氨基酸。

Preferential oxidation of primary hydroxyls in unprotected sugars and sugar amino acids is reported using inexpensive and readily available reagents. This method offers a specific oxidation protocol for a variety of carbohydrates. The stereochemical integrity of the starting materials was preserved and a simple workup yielded the products in good yields with high purity. The procedure is compatible with base sensitive groups like Fmoc. Both mono and disaccharides undergo oxidation regioselectively.

Determining the Lithium and Calcium Concentrations in Canned Tuna Fish in Iran

Backgrounds and aims: Nutrition is the main way to receive the trace elements that human body needs. Lithium (Li) and calcium (Ca) are two trace elements, which have important roles in human body. There are a few studies about the amounts of calcium and lithium in canned tuna fish. The aim of this study was to determine the concentrations of calcium and lithium in canned tuna fishes. Materials and Methods: To this aim, 150 samples of canned tuna fishes from two well-known brands (Majid and Poolak), marketed in Khuzestan province of Iran, were obtained. Li contents of the samples were measured by atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) with atomization in graphite furnace. Ca contents of the samples were measured by AAS using nitrous oxide-acetylene flame. Results: The mean concentrations of calcium in canned tuna fish of Majid and Poolak brands were 448.47 and 398.22 mg/kg, respectively. Additionally, the mean concentrations of lithium in canned tuna fish of Majid and Poolak brands were 38.42 and 39.67 mg/kg, respectively. The mean concentration of calcium in the investigated canned tuna samples fish was lower than provisional tolerable intake (PTI) per day (1000 ppm) set by World Health Organization (WHO) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). However, the mean concentration of lithium in the studied canned tuna fish samples was higher than PTI/day (0.650- 3.1 ppm) Set by EPA. Conclusion: The results of current study showed that the marine food industries need a more-precise and serious monitoring by public health organizations. Additionally, protecting the marine environment from pollutions is an obligation that needs the attention of related organizations and authorities.

Evaluation of the Effects of Hypo-Magnetic Fields on Mouse Macrophage RAW264 Cells 低磁场对小鼠巨噬细胞RAW264细胞影响的研究

Hypo-magnetic fields (HMFs) are static magnetic fields that are significantly weaker than the geomagnetic field and are found in interplanetary space, on Mars, and the Moon. Understanding the mechanism of the biological effects of HMFs is an important topic in magnetobiology. Human physiology studies have shown that HMFs cause various adverse health effects such as increased blood pressure and blood flow rate. Previous studies on the effects of HMFs on cells revealed a variety of effects, such as a change in growth rate, a decrease in mitochondrial membrane potential, and an increase in reactive oxygen species. A decrease in mitochondrial membrane potential (DFm) may seriously impair cellular activity by interfering with the production of ATP. Thus, a deeper investigation of the effects of HMFs on mitochondrial function could provide clues to understanding the adverse effects of HMFs. In the present study, we used mouse macrophage RAW264 cells to investigate the effects of an HMF on mitochondrial membrane potential, mitochondrial superoxide anion (O2-) production, and cell proliferation.

Optimization of Nitric Acid Leaching of Rare Earth Elements From Moroccan Natural Phosphate 硝酸浸出摩洛哥天然磷酸盐中稀土元素的工艺优化

Phosphate is a very important natural resource in Morocco and one of the secondary resources of rare earth elements. Our study is particularly interested in Youssoufia phosphate, which contains 228.77 ppm of rare earth elements (ΣREEs). The purpose of our work is to study the influence of different parameters (acid concentration, solid/liquid ratio and temperature) in order to determine the optimal conditions for the leaching of rare earths. An experimental design (Doehlert matrix) has been drawn up to optimize the experimental conditions of the leaching. All tests were made with nitric acid at different concentrations varying between 1.5M and 4.5M with a solid/liquid ratio of 1/12 to 1/6; reaction temperature and duration are respectively 20°C to 80 °C and 60 min. The optimal conditions are obtained when using 69 °C as temperature, 4.1 M as acid concentration and 1/9 as solid/liquid ratio.

Enhancement of Lytic Activity of HEWL Adsorbed on Biochar by the Optimization of Adsorption Conditions 通过优化吸附条件提高生物炭上hel的裂解活性

We have found that HEWL (hen egg white lysozyme) is effectively immobilized on biochar through adsorption, and the amount of HEWL adsorbed on biochar is strongly dependent on the pH value of adsorption solutions. The structure of HEWL adsorbed on biochar changed by the pH value of adsorption solutions and became similar to that of native HEWL at acidic pH value, although the structure of HEWL solubilized in the solution was the same in the range between pH 4 and 9. On the other hand, the lytic activity of biochar-adsorbed HEWL toward Micrococcus lysodeikticus was markedly influenced by the pH value of adsorption solutions and increased with decreasing the pH value. Moreover, the addition of KCl to adsorption solutions enhanced the lytic activity of biochar-adsorbed HEWL.

Extraction of Green Acid-Base Indicators From Acanthus Pubescens Flower for Use in the School Laboratory 学校实验室用棘花绿色酸碱指示剂的提取

The use of Acanthus pubescens flower extracts as natural eco-friendly substitutes for synthetic acid base indicators is experimentally confirmed. In this study, it is indicated that ethanolic and acidified ethanol extracts of Acanthus pubescens flower are good replacements to phenolphthalein, bromothymol blue and methyl red in acid-base titrations involving a strong acid versus strong base and a strong acid versus weak base. They can also be used as effective substitutes to phenolphthalein in a weak acid versus strong base titrations. And also the acidified ethanol extracts can be used in place of phenolphthalein and bromothymol blue while the ethanol extracts can replace methyl red in weak acid versus weak base titrations. It is also concluded that the use of Acanthus pubescens flower extract as an indicator in all types of acid base titrations is beneficial because of its economy, eco-friendly nature, ease of preparation, availability, simplicity, non-carcinogenicity, precision and accuracy of results.

Modeling of Contact Angle versus pH and Derivation of Contact Angle versus Pressure in Deep Saline Aquifers under Geological Carbon Storage 地质储碳条件下深层咸水含水层接触角随pH值变化的建模及接触角随压力的推导

Geological storage of anthropogenic carbon dioxide is regarded as a technically and economically viable strategy for mitigating carbon dioxide induced climate warming. Central to geological storage of anthropogenic carbon dioxide is the water rock interaction, which has a direct bearing on pH induced wettability evolution in saline aquifers. Consequently, understanding contact angle trend versus injected gas pressure is useful, considering its relationship to pH evolution in formation brine due to dissolved gas at prevailing temperatures and salinities. Several research works have published experimental data on contact angle versus pressure pertaining to geological conditions of anthropogenic carbon storage. In the present study, we have used thermodynamic theories relating to a surface charge model, contact angle and the classical Nernst equation to derive a logarithmic pH dependent contact angle equation. Considering the relationship between carbon dioxide solubility and pressure for a given temperature and salinity as well as the link between pH and the extent of solubility, we have plotted calculated contact angles versus corresponding pressures. Results of the plots obtained compare well with literature values. Therefore, given the lack of theoretical approach regarding contact angle versus pressure, our research work fills the knowledge gap considering the novelty in the derivation of the pH dependent contact angle equation.

The medicinal plant Calycopteris floribunda Roxb. Lam. commonly known as “Ukshi” belongs to the family Combretaceae. Calycopteris floribunda is a large evergreen climbing shrub native of Bangladesh and India. It is widely distributed in the central and southern parts of India and also found in south-east Asian countries. The branches store abundant water for its own purpose as well to quench the thirst of the forest dwellers. Hence the forest habitants are referring this plant as a lifesaver. Calycopteris floribunda finds a place in traditional Asian medicinal systems, including Ayurveda, Folk and Unani. The anti-inflammatory flavonoid compound calycopterin is present in the leaves of the plant. In Ayurveda this plant is used to treat for leprosy, malarial fever, dysentery, ulcers, vomiting, wound healing and cytotoxic. It is hepatoprotective, antimicrobial, antiviral and used for numerous ailments. A review on the medicinal plant Calycopteris floribunda was done in the period from 1934 to 2020. Here, we are focusing on the isolation, phytochemical constitution and pharmacological potential of Calycopteris floribunda plant.

STABILITY-INDICATING METHOD DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION FOR THE ESTIMATION OF ROSUVASTATIN CALCIUM IN PHARMACEUTICAL DOSAGE FORM BY REVERSE PHASE-HIGH PERFORMANCE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY 反相高效液相色谱法测定制剂中瑞舒伐他汀钙含量的稳定性指示方法的建立与验证

Objective: The present work was focused on the development and validation of the reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) method, which is simple, rapid, precise, accurate, sensitive, economical, and stability-indicating for the quantification of rosuvastatin calcium in bulk and tablet formulation. Methods: The separation was attained on reversed-phase Princeton (C18) column with dimensions (250 mm × 4.6 mm, 5μ) employing buffer, which is a mixture of water (pH 3.0, adjusted with orthophosphoric acid) and methanol in the ratio (20:80) v/v as mobile phase, at flow rate 1.0 ml/min. and detection was carried out at wavelength 240 nm. The retention time under the optimized condition of rosuvastatin calcium was found to be 2.844 min. Results: The linearity of the method was demonstrated in the concentration range of 6-16 µg/ml for rosuvastatin calcium with a correlation coefficient (r2) of 0.9999. The percentage relative standard deviation was ˂2% and percentage recovery was found to be 100.12-101.37% for rosuvastatin calcium. The assay of marketed tablet formulations was found to be 98.99%. Conclusion: The developed RP-HPLC technique was found to be simple, specific, sensitive, rapid, linear, accurate, precise, and economical and will be used for regular quality control of rosuvastatin calcium in bulk and tablet formulations.
