Various sources including a DC power source generate harmonic components in the power system. As one of the approaches to compensate harmonic current generated in the power system, this paper presents a harmonic compensation system using a wound rotor induction machine (WRIM). The primary side current is controlled by excitation of the secondary side of the WRIM. In this paper, a harmonic compensation system based on flux-oriented vector control of wounded rotor induction motors is proposed. By using the flux-oriented vector control, a voltage source PWM control scheme can be applied with fast dynamic response time. The designed control scheme is verified through simulation.

Based on the fault characteristics, where the exciting current increases and the output reactive power reduces, when an inter turn short-circuit occurs in rotor windings, and considering the saturated situation of generator, a fault characteristic mathematical model of inter turn short-circuits on generator rotor windings is founded. The method is verified by using the practical data.

Photovoltaic (PV) pumping systems using a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique aim to obtain the highest possible power to the pump under various insolation and temperature conditions, thus overcoming the mismatch between the photovoltaic panel and the pumping load. A simple method of tracking the maximum power points and forcing the system to operate close to these points is presented in this paper. The MC68HC908GP32 microcontrol unit (MCU) is employed to implement the proposed MPPT controller. Experimental results show the performances of a photovoltaic pumping system with the MPPT technique.

A digital control system for a brushless DC motor using an 8031 microcontroller is described in this paper. The adoption of the bipolar PWM technique makes the motor operate in four quadrants. The proportional plus integration technique is used to adjust speed and decrease overshoot and transients. Based on the above, the dynamic performance of the system is significantly improved.

Switched reluctance motors (SRM) are almost always operated within the saturation region for a very large operation region. This yields very strong nonlinearities, which makes it very difficult to derive a comprehensive mathematical model for the behavior of the machine. This paper presents the variable structure fuzzy-neural networks model of SRM. Based on the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy-neural networks, a variable structure and step learning arithmetic was presented. Then the fuzzy-simulation results show that this method is more precise and less time-consuming for convergence than BP neural networks model.

An analytical technique for predicting the rotor eddy current loss in brushless motors equipped with surface-mounted permanent magnets is described. The analytical model, formulated in polar coordinates and based on the calculation of the two-dimensional magnetostatic field in the airgap/magnet regions, enables the eddy current loss to be calculated in the permanent magnets and the retaining sleeve, if fitted, of motors having either radial or parallel magnetised magnets and either overlapping or nonoverlapping stator windings, and can cater for any specified load condition. The technique is applied to a brushless DC traction machine, in which the rotor loss is due predominantly to time harmonics in the stator armature reaction field which resulted from commutation events, and loss predictions are compared with thermometric-based measurements. Good agreement is achieved at low speeds. However, a significant discrepancy exists at high speeds, due to the neglect of the eddy current reaction field. This is accounted for in a refined analytical model described in part II.

This article provides a modeling method of an induction motor describing aggregate electric power load, which is called "parameter weighting-mean synthesis modeling". This method is based on the identification modeling for every single load record. The essential procedure of this method is that we obtain every set of model parameters of induction motor for all corresponding load records with identification modeling respectively at first, and then get the weighting-mean parameters of all single identification modeling. Finally we use the weighting-mean parameters as equivalent model parameters of an induction motor describing the aggregate power load. The practical modeling results show that this method is very convenient to use and is simpler and more effective than the "synthesis identification modeling".

This paper presents a novel control scheme suitable for high-power high-performance AC power supplies. The performances of the conventional current-regulated voltage-controlled system with bipolar PWM are first analyzed in detail. The proposed control scheme incorporates a dual synchronous PWM technique of single-phase full-bridge inverter and multiple feedback loop. Thanks to this scheme, the AC power supply output voltage can maintain a high-quality sinewave at low switching frequency and small output LC filter parameters. At the same time, the system his excellent voltage regulation performance, fast dynamic response, good disturbance rejection, high nonlinear load compatibility, and small voltage modulation value. The validity of the proposed control scheme has been verified on a single-phase 30 kVA experimental prototype.
