The leakage magnetic fields due to heavy current leads of bushings belong to 3D open boundary fields in a large transformer. The distributions of the fields are calculated by 3D geometric transform method. The eddy current densities and loss in the ascending flange are analyzed at the different materials and thickness of copper screen.

This paper discusses the different effects of conducting and magnetic shields on the circuit inductance, which are of significance in pulsed power technology (PPT). The effect can be used as a generic method to guide the design of the special electrical machines called compensated pulsed alternators (compulsator or CPA) and improve the power output. With the shield technique, the internal inductance of a CPA is reduced greatly to tens of micro-henry making Possible very high current and power output when the CPA discharges. The CPA realizes a most efficient and compact pulsed power supply which can meet rapidly increasing need for military purposes and special industrial uses.

In this paper the design of a turbogenerator with high voltage stator winding is presented. In distinction from conventional techniques the stator winding is not built with isolated bars. For this concept, common high voltage cables are used. Therefore it is possible to raise the stator voltage from 110 kV to 400 kV. The advantage of this concept is that the transformer is no longer necessary. The conclusion of this paper is that it is possible to design a turbogenerator with high voltage stator windings, but the new machine is much larger than a common one. Furthermore the efficiency is lower (0.6% resp. 2.3%) than for a conventional machine because of skin effect losses in the cables.

In the paper, a neural network torque model of a switched reluctance motor (SRM) is established, based on the merits of the backpropagation (BP) neural network in the area of modeling and control of nonlinear systems. The simulation results show that the torque model based on BP-neural network is more robust and adaptive, and can reflect the working properties of SRM more accuracy than the local linearization torque model.

The fault of broken rotor bars in a three-phase induction motor is diagnosed by using the wavelet multi-resolution analysis in this paper. Daubechies wavelet is selected as the wavelet base, and the wavelet coefficient is obtained from the wavelet transform of the current signal of the faulty induction motor. The wavelet reconstruction of a single branch is then processed. This is the signal in each frequency branch as a function of time. A rotor fault in the induction motor is clearly identified from the distinguishing current characteristics on the high frequency branch, compared with the no fault condition.

An asynchronized synchronous generator's (ASG) nonlinear state space equations, including the cycloconverter's frequency adjusting process, are put forward. According to the state equations, the static stability of an ASG is analyzed, and the relation between the stability and the magnifying coefficient and the damping coefficient is also discussed.

This paper presents modeling and analysis of levitation force considering air-gap eccentricity in a bearingless induction motor. By using nonlinear transient field analysis of finite element method (FEM), levitation force is calculated under air-gap eccentricity. An analytical analysis of interaction between harmonic field components due to air-gap eccentricity is put forward. A simplified modeling for levitation force control is developed based on the theoretical analysis and calculated results by FEM.

A new sliding mode controller that controls power converters such as DC-DC converters is presented in this paper. It is designed to obtain optimal PWM and desired closed-loop dynamics. To suppress chattering, a fuzzy sliding mode variable structure control (FSMVSC) is presented. The simulation results show that SMVSC for power converters is rather simple and yet quite efficient, and that the advantages of FSMVSC are obvious in comparison with traditional SMVSC.

This paper presents a bearingless wound-rotor induction motor. The transient responses of radial force and torque in bearingless induction motors are computed with the transient finite element method (FEM) with rotating machine models. It is shown that a steady radial force to support the shaft weight and a constant torque independent of the bearing currents can be generated at the same time. The bearingless wound-rotor induction motor is compared to the bearingless squirrel cage induction motor with respect to the transient responses of radial force and torque. A control system is proposed to implement the combination of levitation and rotation.
