As one of the most important course in the field of civil engineering, the “Design of Steel Structure” is attracting attentions from college teacher in China. The complex failure modes or buckling modes of steel components result in comprehending deviation of students between theoretical models and engineering practice. This paper proposes a teaching research on the course based on practical tests, and presents a case study on design of steel columns in China. The buckling modes and finial failure modes of the cold-formed steel (CFS) columns were visually shown in the tests, and they were compared to the theoretical presentations in textbooks. Besides, a standard testing-teaching procedure is also recommended for further teaching research for other course closed to the engineering practice.

Currently, people lack understanding of the methods and measures for earthquake resistance and disaster reduction in railways when faced with earthquake disasters, especially for a systemic education view. With the advancement of construction technology and science and technology, the safety of railways under earthquake effects has been further ensured. Based on the safety of railways under earthquake effects, this paper aims to introduce the safety prevention of high-speed railway trains on the view of education.

In recent years, the construction of a high-quality, balanced, universal and inclusive senior high school education system has been placed in a more important position, especially for the development of county general high schools, which has been emphasized more and more strongly. This paper analyzes the reality of social conflict in the development process of county general high schools in Guangxi from the perspective of social conflict theory, and finds that there are multiple problems such as resource allocation conflict, internal structural conflict and value conflict. Therefore, this paper proposes three paths to resolve and avoid the real conflicts in the development of Guangxi county general high schools by establishing a reasonable resource allocation mechanism, constructing a county education community, and improving the quality of county general high school education, which not only faces the real conflicts in the development of county general high schools, but also tries to solve the diversified problems of the resource allocation mechanism, the construction of teachers’ talent team, and the education and teaching community in the county education system.

Reading is one of the most important ways of language learning, which occupies an important position in language teaching in senior high school. Under the influence of the new curriculum reform, it has gradually become the trend of English teaching in senior high schools to emphasize the student-oriented teaching and learn by doing teaching. Task-based Language Teaching is an approach based on tasks as the core unit of language teaching, which enables students to use the target language to communicate in activities, and promotes the learning and mastery of language in the process of performing tasks, thereby improving language application ability. The application of TBLT to reading teaching can effectively stimulate students’ interest in learning and improve students’ reading ability. This paper takes Book One Unit5 into the Wild in FLTRP as an example to illustrate the application of TBLT in English reading teaching.

The study investigated truancy, indiscipline and peer pressure as correlates of students’ academic performance in social studies in Upper Basic Schools in Ido/Osi Government Area of Ekiti State, Nigeria. The study adopted correlational research design. The sample of this study was made up 100 upper basic 3 students from 5 out of 16 public upper basic schools in Ido/Osi LGA of Ekiti State, Nigeria was selected using multistage sampling techniques. The instruments used for data collection were Truancy, Indiscipline and Peer-Pressure Questionnaire (TIPPQ) and result of basic education certificate examination (BECE) for 2022 set. The result of BECE and TIPPQ used was validated by two experts in social studies and one expert in measurement and evaluation. TIPPQ was trial tested which yielded the reliability coefficient of 0.88 using Cronbach Alpha. Three research questions raised in the study were answered using multiple regression analysis while the three null hypotheses formulated in the study were tested using ANOVA of regression analysis. The study revealed among other that there is significant relationship between truancy and students academic performance [F1, 99 = 34.737; p<0.05]. There is significant relationship between indiscipline and students academic performance [F1, 99 = 12.009; p<0.05]. There is significant relationship between peer pressure and students’ academic performance [F1, 99 = 10.319; p<0.05]. It was recommended among that, to improve students’ academic performance in social studies, school administrators including principals and vice-principals should set up disciplinary committee reduce or curb truancy, indiscipline and peer group among students in upper basic schools.

Under the background of the new era, General Secretary Xi Jinping put forward the important content of “four self-confidence” for the thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics; cultural self-confidence has a more basic, deeper and more lasting power. The connotation of the construction of the new liberal arts is the development direction of disciplines that are upright and innovative, interdisciplinary and meet the needs of the times. As a new liberal arts perspective, design has become an important driving force to promote the development of culture. Design is not only the inheritor of culture, but also the successor of pioneering and innovation. Throughout the excellent design works at home and abroad, all of them are rooted in culture, and will be the integration of excellent traditional culture into the design classroom can not only enrich the design teaching, but also enable students to actively explore the spirit of traditional culture in the process of creating design works, and endow traditional culture with new vitality.

ChatGPT, a chatbot based on the Open-AI’s generative pre-trained (GPT) language models, has been hailed as a “24/7 tutor” that has transformed the way people view education in just under six months since its debut. (Jason Pohl, 2023; Kara Manke, 2023) The impact of AI on future learning and teaching has sparked discussions that draw parallels to the debates held over 2,000 years ago by renowned Greek philosophers such as Socrates (469-399 B.C.), Plato (427-347 B.C.), and Aristotle (384-322 B.C.). These ancient thinkers delved into theories pertaining to the acquisition and dissemination of new knowledge. By drawing these historical comparisons, we gain valuable insights into the ongoing discourse surrounding the influence of AI in education. Does Socrates’ dialectic method, in which truth is discovered through discussions with peers, still have a role in the learning process? Could the peer involved in this case be considered a chatbot?

The continuation writing has emerged in college entrance examination. It undoubtedly increased the writing difficulty and students’ writing anxiety. The English curriculum standard stressed on formative assessment. Among various types of formative assessment, “portfolio” assessment is one of the most effective evaluation methods. This paper attempts to explore the application of portfolio assessment in English continuation writing, which provides a way of teaching, practicing, and evaluating for the continuation writing. To be specific, it explains introduction, concepts and types, important values and application methods of continuation writing in the senior high schools. And hopefully it can be rationally used and scientifically optimized in daily teaching practice of continuation writing.

Ecological environmental education is an important part of building a high-quality education system and promoting the modernization of education. It is the focus of current education reform. Literature research has found that the research content of ecological environment education has gradually enriched, but policy research is not enough. The research has shown that although ecological environmental education has achieved certain achievements, the literacy of the ecological civilization of the whole people still needs to be improved. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, China has established the policy specifications for the development of ecological environment education content and methods of ecological environment education involved in the main body, content, and methods of ecological environment education. The prominent problem of ecological environmental education is that its status has not been paid attention to, teachers are subject to restrictions, the curriculum system is not perfect, and the teaching system is affected. Research suggests that the system and mechanism construction of ecological environmental education is recommended, creating a good social atmosphere for ecological environment education, establishing a new type of education system for high-quality ecological environmental education, building an ecological education environment in schools, and building a network ecological environment education base.
