In all the civilizations there has existed slavery of one or the other form and it had acceptance from the contemporary society. If you are a slave then there is nothing you can do about it you will have to bear it meekly. The American slaves were different, they were brought there from some other continent and their look and physique were also different than the Europeans settled in America, thereof their rights were ignored and assumed that they did not have any rights. Nonetheless when the slavery was abolished from America there was revolt and civil war took place. But no one thought about the slave’s livelihood post abolition of slavery and this is where Dunbar comments upon. His poetry throughs lights on this aspect of the former slaves and their kids, they were free but did not have any skill or way of livelihood. In this present paper I would endeavour to trace this aspect of Dunbar’s poets.

The word ‘Carer’ is mostly associated with a woman and an image that pop up in one’s mind while reading its definition. It has been socially constructed that nurturing a child, nursing the sick and caring for the needy are all the responsibilities and works of women. Men rarely engage in such aforementioned activities. The gender role and tasks assigned to the gender are obstacles for the empowerment and development of women. The role of being a carer in a household consumes much time and is energy draining, physically, mentally and emotionally. Sacrifice, tolerance, responsibility and kindness are all the qualities that are mainly associated with the carer’s role. Texts like Diane Broeckhoven’s A Day with Mr. Julesand Mitch Albom’s Tuesdays with Morrie talk about this issue. The paper deals with the aspects in the gender role that act as hindrances in women’s pathway to success. The discussed texts bring in discourse about the division of labour and de-naturalizing the constructed gender roles in the society. The article presents the relationship among gender roles, caregiving and carer’s quality of life and it also brings to attention a different aspect of gender studies.

This paper will explore the procrastination of the protagonists of William Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” and T.S Eliot’s “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock”. Both protagonists of Hamlet &The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock were in procrastination, The protagonist of “Hamlet” play is Hamlet who was informed supernaturally that his uncle Claudius killed his father and he was planning to take the revenge but was procrastinating to kill King Claudius. This thesis paper also demonstrates the conspiracy of the palace of Hamlet’s royal family. This play had a tragedy in the end. On the other hand, the protagonist of “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock” is Prufrock who fell in love with a young lady but he was also procrastinating to expose his feeling to that lady as he was old also a bald spot on his head. That is why he was afraid to express his feeling to that woman if he gets rejected. This paper also contains critical analysis; feminist elements, compare and contrasts of these two texts.

Invisible Man is a novel by Ralph Ellison published by Random House in 1952. Ellison was an American writer best known for his novel Invisible man which won the ‘National Book Award’ in 1953. This novel is a milestone in American literature which deeply discusses the social problem of racism in America. This novel is a Bildungs roman novel where the narrator (main character) begins as a bright high school student, is intelligent, and matures into a man who understands the nature of the world in the later part of his life. It is also considered to be a Universal novel as it is based on a quest to know oneself. This paper focuses on how racism impacts the narrator’s identity and his struggle to find himself in society among whites. Racism does not affect the narrator in particular but also the whole society in general at both physical and psychological levels. Existentialism is also implied in this novel as the narrator struggles to find his identity. Racism evolved in America not only after the immigration of Blacks but also after the slave era and colonial era. Black people were brought to the USA for slavery. Slave trade had happened and they suffered a lot from hunger, disease, etc. In 1865, after the civil war, Black slavery was abolished in the USA, but its legacy is going on still.

The impact was seen on all the dependent variables considered in this study except Cognitive Capabilities of the students. Advanced schools offer an environment conducive to learning which promotes the psychological health of an adolescent to achieve the desired results. Unlikely, moderate level schools lack the basic infrastructure and facilities, have shown a negative impact on the student’s psychological health. Students from both categories of school exhibited different levels of competence with regards to their psychological well-being, motivation and outlook towards life. A good school infrastructure provides a sense of safety and security to parents; hence the presence of such facilities is found to be associated with the performance of the students.

Altruism is an important aspect in Positive psychology, defined as helping others and showing concern for the well- being of others without expecting any reward, the person extend help voluntarily, slowly becoming his/ her habit. Person with altruism feels empathetic at others, spend time with them, listen to them and try to be emotionally connected with them. Jhumpa Lahiri’s Interpreter of Maladies is her first book, it interprets the problems faced by the experience of diasporans such as displacement, rootlessness, disintegration, discrimination, marginalization and crisis in identity. A Real Durwan is the story about Boori Ma, a sweeper migrated to India from Pakistan because of political reasons.

Munshi Premchand was one of the prominent Indian Writers in Hindi and Urdu. His works were mainly focused on important social issues of his period. This study analyses his work “My Elder Brother” where he depicts the relationship of two brothers. He explains the divergence between them. This attitude indicates that he also had a different opinion than other writers. Because, other writers preferred to write in English language. But, he used to write in his native language. This study examines how Indians are easily adopted to English language. Through the character of Elder brother, it was understood that Younger generation don’t know about their native language but they knew about British and their language. It had happened because of the British Education system. Premchand believed that this system eradicated the native language and it made people learn English. So, he focused on the displacement of Native Language by the invaders. Similarly, Post- Colonial Writer Ngugi Wa Thiong’o was against the abolition of Native Languages in Africa. Premchand scrutinized the people who learned English in India. This paper explores how British infused their language to India and abolished native language.

The relationship between language and culture has become an integral part of language education in recent times. This study explores the impact of second language learning on the culture of ESL undergraduates at Aligarh Muslim University, AMU, India. The study investigates the status of second language learning effects on undergraduates’ culture in the ESL context; of AMU, India. The study employed a quantitative method to collect the data. A 5-point Likert scale in paper and pencil questionnaire-based study was designed to explore the issue mentioned above based on a dataset of convenience sampling of 286 undergraduate students at AMU, India. The study used structural equation modelling (SEM) through SPSS 20 and Amos 20 for data analysis. The study found an overall significant effect of the selected constructs (attitudes, perception of content, perception of learning)of second language learning on the ESL undergraduates’ culture. According to the research findings, a connection exists between language and culture.
