Depression is considered as affective disorder characterized by change in mood, lack of interest in the surrounding. It is one of the mental health problems of people all over the world. Depression is a multifaceted condition characterised by episodes of mood disturbances alongside other symptoms such as anhedonia, psychomotor complaints, feelings of guilt and suicidal tendencies, all of which can range in severity. Anxiety and fear can be defined as response of subject to real or potential threats that may impair his/her homeostasis that can significantly mark function and quality of life. Some of depressive disorder overlap those of anxiety disorders, including severe phobias, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Anxietyrelated disorders such as patient’s nervousness, obsessive compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress are foremost causes of infirmity in the world. Antidepressant and anxiolytic drug are the drug use for treatment of depression and anxiety but there are several side effect of these drug were observed like dry mouth, mental confusion, weakness and sedation. So, we evaluate the anti-depressant and anti-anxiety effect of N. Jatamansi root extract in rats by dose dependent manner. The behavior assessment observed by force swim test, locomotor activity, tail suspension test and elevated plus maze for depression and anxiety experimentation. The drug given 150 mg/kg and 300 mg/kg by oral route. The study observed that the ethanolic root extract reduced depression and anxiety generated by force swim test, tail suspension method, actophotometer and elevated plus maze.
口服150 mg/kg、300 mg/kg。

Estrogens play an important role in metabolic homeostasis. However, its risk of oncogenecity and cardiovascular adverse effects underscores its therapeutic benefits. This study investigated the metabolic effect of low dose estrogen supplemented with Andrographis paniculata on type-2 diabesity mice model. The experimental animals maintained on high fat diet were induced diabetes with streptozotocin (100 mg/kg) after intraperitoneal injection of 50 mg/kg nicotinamide. Low dose estrogen (0.02 mg/kg) was administered alone as well as in combination with 50, 150 and 500 mg/kg of the ethanol extract of A. paniculata. These doses of the extract, vehicle (5 ml/kg distilled water) and two reference standards pioglitazone (30 mg/kg) and metformine (100 mg/kg) were used as controls. Oral glucose tolerance test was used to determine the effect of treatment on pancreatic β-cell function and insulin sensitivity following oral glucose load of 2 g/kg. Lipid profile tests and blood glucose measurements were used to evaluate effect of treatment on lipid homeostasis and chronic diabetes respectively. Combination of low dose estradiol with 150 and 500 mg/kg of the extract showed significant (p<0.05) reduction in blood glucose when compared to their individual monotherapeutic effects. Co-administration of the extract with estradiol at all doses of the extract produced significant (p<0.05) improvement in oral glucose tolerance as depicted by smaller AUC when compared to either the extract or estradiol alone. Low dose estradiol was unable to significantly improve diabesity associated lipid profile abnormalities. However, combination of both low doses of the extract (50 mg/kg) and estradiol showed significant (p<0.05) reduction in serum triglyceride (TG) and LDL -cholesterol as well as significant (p<0.05) increase in HDL compared to vehicle control group. These findings established that augmentation of low-dose estrogen with A. paniculata resulted in the improvement of glucose and lipid homeostasis in a type-2 diabesity mice model compared to their individual effects.

Introduction: The patients with COVID-19 could be suffered from pulmonary dysfunction and/or fibrosis in recovery period, but there are no certain drugs or treatment to cope with this situation. Our previous studies indicated that Fuzheng Huayu tablets (FZHY) could regress lung fibrosis induced by bleomycin in animals, and improve pulmonary function in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Now we design this trial in order to evaluate the effects of FZHY on pulmonary fibrosis and/or pulmonary function injury in the recovery period of COVID-19 and expect to improve the prognosis. Methods and analysis: This is a randomized, double-blinded, multicenter, placebo-controlled clinical trial from March 1, 2020 to December 31, 2021. 160 patients who had been diagnosed with COVID-19 were enrolled, but currently they are negative in viral test and have developed pulmonary fibrosis or pulmonary dysfunction. They are randomly assigned into control group and experimental group. All patients are given basic treatment such as respiratory function rehabilitation training and vitamin C. The experimental group is given FZHY meanwhile the control group is given placebo. Each patient will be observed for 24 weeks and followed up for 8 weeks. The primary outcome of this trial is the improvement proportion of lung fibrosis judged by HRCT score. Secondary outcomes include six-minute walk distance, clinical symptoms score, oxygen saturation, quality of Life-BREF Score, patient health questionnaire-9 Score and general anxiety disorder-7 score. The safety will also be observed. Ethics and dissemination: This study has been approved by the IRB of Shuguang Hospital affiliated with Shanghai University of TCM. The results will be presented at national as well as international conferences.
