Experimental and theoretical study on corrosion inhibition of mild steel by meso-tetraphenyl-porphyrin derivatives in acid solution 中四苯基卟啉衍生物在酸性溶液中对低碳钢缓蚀的实验与理论研究

The inhibition effect of meso-tetraphenyl-porphyrin (TPPH2), meso-tetra4-methophenyl-porphyrin TPPH2(p-Me), and meso-tetra4-actophenyl-porphyrin (TAcPPH2) on the corrosion of XC52 mild steel in aerated 0.5 M aqueous sulfuric acid solution was studied by potentiodynamic polarization experiments and quantum chemical calculations. Results from potentiodynamic polarization showed that inhibition efficiency of three compounds increased upon increasing of the inhibitor concentration and they are acting as mixed type inhibitors, having dominant anodic reactions. Adsorption of all compounds follows the Langmuir adsorption isotherm with moderate values of free energy of adsorption. Quantum chemical calculation using DFT/B3LYP method confirmed a strong bond between meso-tetraphenyl-porphyrins and mild steel surface. The inhibition mechanism was also determined by the potential of zero charge (PZC) measurement at the metal/solution interface.

Mechanical and microstructural charaterization of YSZ/Al2O3 /CeO2 plasma Sprayed coatings YSZ/Al2O3 /CeO2等离子喷涂涂层的力学和显微组织表征

In the present work, the surface characterization of YSZ/Al2O3 /CeO2 plasma sprayed coatings was performed to understand the surface characteristics. The content of the Yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) was 60 wt.% , where alumina was varied from 30 to 38 wt.% and CeO2 from 2 to 10 wt.%, respectively. Ceramic coatings with a different percentage variation of composite materials were used to increase layer strength on a substrate of SS-304. The SEM micrographs were analysed to understand the features present on the surface of coatings, and XRD analysis was done to know the phases present in the coatings. Microhardness and porosity decrease with the addition of CeO2 in the YSZ-based coatings.

Development of CNT reinforced Al2O3-TiO2 coatings for boiler tubes to improve hot corrosion resistance 锅炉管用碳纳米管增强Al2O3-TiO2涂层的研究

This study examines the hot corrosion behaviour of plasma-coated T12 steel for 10 cycles of 100 h each in an industrial boiler. The coating contains CNT (carbon nanotubes) reinforced alumina-titania powders. The substrates were exposed to the boiler at 750 °C. A thermogravimetric examination was conducted to evaluate the kinetics of corrosion. Corroded samples were examined with scanning electron microscopy and x-ray diffraction analysis after the end of the corrosion cycle. This research study concludes that CNT-reinforced coatings provide better corrosion resistance than conventional alumina coatings in the boiler environment.

Investigation of Tool Wear Rate during EDM for Aluminium Metal Matrix Composite (5-10% TiB2) Prepared by Squeeze Casting 挤压铸造铝基复合材料(5-10% TiB2)电火花加工中刀具磨损率的研究

Squeeze casting was used to prepare aluminium alloy-6061/titanium diboride (TiB2) to create a composite with varied TiB2 quantities. The composite's metallographic structure, tensile strength, and hardness have been explored. The tensile strength and hardness of produced metal matrix composites increased when a particle of TiB2 was increased from 5 to 10 vol.%. This study uses electrical discharge machining (EDM) to investigate the output response tool wear rate (TWR). Variables in EDM operation were investigated, such as current, pulse on time, and voltage gap. The experiments were designed using the Box–Behnken strategy. Statistical approaches were used to analyse the experiments. At ideal settings for TiB2 concentrations of 5 and 10 vol.%, TWR was 0.2146 and 0.1749 mm3 min-1 and surface roughness was 2.47 and 3.03 µm, respectively. TiB2 is utilized in automobile disc brakes, an industry where components slide against each other. The alu­minium alloy-6061/titanium diboride has many applications as a biomaterial and is a good prospect.

The electrochemical sensors for carmoisine detection were explored and applied in the field of food safety because of the striking merits of fast detection speed, high sensitivity and easy operation. Herein, we de­veloped a high-performance electrochemical carmoisine sensor based on g-C3N4 and ionic liquids (ILs), prepared by a one-pot hydrothermal synthesis method. Most importantly, the sensing per­formances of electrochemical carmoisine sensors based on g-C3N4 (graphitic carbon nitride)/IL (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate) are better than the bare carbon paste electrode (CPE) sensors. The detection limit of this sensor (g-C3N4/ILs/CPE) de­ter­mined via differential pulse voltammetry was 0.1 µM over a wide linear range of 0.4–125.0 µM.

Pre-post electron transfer regioselectivity at glycine modified graphene electrode interface for voltammetric sensing applications 甘氨酸修饰石墨烯电极界面前-后电子转移区域选择性的伏安传感应用

In the last few years, glycine (GL) showed good experimental evidence as an electron transfer (ET) mediator at the carbon (in particular graphene (GR)) interface. However, ET properties of GL modified GR interface are still not known completely. These can be achieved using density functional theory-based models. Modelling of modified carbon electrode interfaces is essential in electroanalytical chemistry to get insights into their electronic and redox properties. Here we have modelled glycine modified graphene interface to find out its interfacial redox ET properties. Conceptual density functional theory concepts like frontier molecular orbital (FMO) theory and analytical Fukui functions were utilized to predict the ET sites on the modified graphene surface. It is shown that at the glycine-modified graphene interface, amine groups act as additional oxidation sites and carboxylic acid groups as additional reduction sites. Therefore, glycine acts as an ET mediator at the graphene-based electrode interface. The obtained results are well supported by previously published experimental reports.

Myriad hydro materials have been encountered with the severe attacks of eroded particles during the operation, leading to degradation of target material and economic loss. In this study, Colmonoy-6+WC powders were deposited with the help of the laser cladding method on the bare SS304 and SS410 steel surfaces. Distinct properties of cladded surfaces, such as mechanical as well as metallurgical properties, were investigated. The influence of slurry erosion parameters like angle of impact and impact velocity of eroded particles on the cladded as well as uncladded steel specimen was analysed. Under all slurry erosion conditions, there was an escalation in slurry erosion resistance in the case of cladded steel as that of as-received steel specimens. In slurry erosion, the influence of the impact velocity of erodent particles is more against the impact angle. The scanning electron microscopy images of eroded uncoated steel specimens represent ductile behaviour along with the formation lip, ploughing etc., while eroded cladded steels exhibit brittle behaviour.

In this study, Colmonoy-6+WC powders were deposited with the help of the laser cladding method on the bare SS304 and SS410 steel surfaces. Distinct properties of cladded surfaces, such as mechanical as well as metallurgical properties, were investigated. The influence of slurry erosion parameters like angle of impact and impact velocity of eroded particles on the cladded as well as uncladded steel specimen was analysed. Under all slurry erosion conditions, there was an escalation in slurry erosion resistance in the case of cladded steel as that of as-received steel specimens. In slurry erosion, the influence of the impact velocity of erodent particles is more against the impact angle. Effect of nano yttria-stabilized zirconia on properties of Ni-20Cr composite coatings 纳米氧化钇稳定氧化锆对Ni-20Cr复合镀层性能的影响

In the present work, 5 wt.% and 10 wt.% yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) nanoparticles were reinforced in Ni-20Cr powder and deposited on boiler tube steel using a high-velocity oxy-fuel spraying process. The effect of YSZ reinforcement on microhardness, surface roughness and porosity was investigated. The hardness was the highest for nanocomposite coating reinforced with 10 wt.% YSZ and hardness was found to increase with a decrease in porosity. The coating microstructure and elements were characterized using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) with an energy dispersive spectroscope (EDS). The constituents of the coating were identified using X-ray diffractometer. It was found that the composite coating with 10 wt.% YSZ reinforced nanocomposite coating has the highest microhardness, in the range of 1008-1055 hv. During the coating process, nano YSZ particles were dispersed in the gaps between the micrometric Ni-20Cr particles, providing a better coating matrix than conventional Ni-20Cr. The Ni-20Cr with 10 wt.% of YSZ nanoparticles showed better results in terms of mechanical and microstructural properties during the investigation.

A substantial and steady decrease in the energy cost produced from renewable sources has revived interest in hydrogen production through water electrolysis. Deployment of electrolysis for H2 production is now closer to reality than ever before. Yet, several challenges associated with production cost, infrastructure, safety, storage, and so forth remain to be addressed. One of the overriding challenges is the production cost caused by a platinum electrode. To overcome such limitations, developing low-cost and stable electro­catalysts very close to the same electrode activity as platinum (Pt) metal is crucial to solving the efficiency issue in the process. Therefore, this review is in the direction of designing binary and ternary alloys of transition metal-based electrocatalysts anchored on carbon and focuses more on routes to enhance the performance of the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The strategic routes to reduce overpotential and enhance electrocatalysts perfor­mance are discussed thoroughly in the light of HER mechanism and its derived descriptor.

Experimental and theoretical investigations of new Schiff base compound adsorption on aluminium in 1 M HCl 新型席夫碱化合物在1 M HCl溶液中吸附铝的实验与理论研究

The new Schiff base, 2,2'-((1Z,1'Z)-(((propane-1,3-diylbis(oxy))bis(2,1-phenyle­ne))bis­(me­tha­­nyl­­ylidene))bis(azanylylidene))diethanol, was investigated as a cor­ro­sion inhibitor of aluminium in 1 M HCl. Polarization and electrochemical impedance mea­surements were used for this purpose. Polarization curves showed that the compound is a mixed-type corrosion inhibitor. Also, the results showed an increase in inhibition efficiency as the concentration of the compound increased. The maximum corrosion inhibition effici­ency of approximately 81 % was reached at the concentration of 2 mg/L of the inhibitor. The results of the density functional theory method were consistent with the experimental results. The surface morphology of the samples was examined under atomic force microscopy.
