Hallucinogens are diverse group of chemicals occurring naturally as well as synthetic. These drugs produce bizarre effects on the mind, such as distortion of time, space, sound, colour, and other sensations. It acts primarily on the central nervous system and interfere with the filtering mechanisms of the mind causing alterations in perceptions, thinking and moods. In India, Forensic Science Laboratories run by Government under the Home ministry usually carry out this. The samples must be analyzed by the forensic toxicologist/chemists/scientist. This article deals with the screening/spot test for hallucinogens. It attempts has been made for screening/spot/colour test of Hallucinogens in a stepwise manner, which can be of handy reference for the forensic toxicologist/scientist/chemist.

Introduction: Violent deaths resulting from asphyxia chiefly includes Hanging. Hanging may be suicidal, homicidal or accidental in nature. Suicide by hanging is commonest, accidental hanging is less common and homicidal hanging is still less common. Aims & Objectives: The study was aimed towards analysing socio- demographic pattern, causes & precipitating factors for committing suicide by hanging in this region. Materials and Methods: A retrospective study was conducted at mortuary of SRTR Government Medical College, Ambajogai, Dist. Beed, Maharashtra, India, during the period 01 January 2018 to 31 December 2018 on alleged history of hanging cases brought for post mortem examination and where the cause of death was attributed to hanging. Data was collected with help of inquest, external and internal examination etc. Results were obtained after tabulating and analysing data. Results: Total 59 cases were studied during the study period and shows male preponderance (71.18%). Majority of male (10 cases ie..23.80%) were in the age group of 51-60 years where as females were (11 cases ie. 64.70%) in the age group of 21-30 years. Out of 59 cases, 14 (23.72%) were farmers. Pre-disposing factor was Alcohol consumption in 09 (15.25 %) cases. Psychological problems were the reason for suicide in 05 (08.47%) cases. In relation to seasonal variation we noted that, maximum number of suicide by hanging in males and females were reported in the month of June 11 (18.64). Other details explained subsequently. Conclusion: Hanging as a method of suicide is difficult to prevent but cautious screening of susceptible persons, careful watch and monitoring their behaviour and counselling can reduce suicide. Keywords: Suicide, Asphyxia, Hanging, Socio-demographic, Farmer.

Background: In India, dowry is a rising social evil contributing to female mortality. Aims: To evaluate the socio-demographic profile of alleged dowry victims. Materials and Methods: Cross-sectional study of 84 alleged dowry deaths stratifying the sociodemographic pattern of alleged dowry deaths. Results: 57.1% were from 21to30 years of age group. Maximum females were illiterate (39.3%), housewives (77.4%) and from lower socio-economic strata of society. Globally gastric carcinoma is the fifth leading cause of cancer and the third leading cause of death from cancer making up 7% of cases and 9% of deaths. In 2012 it occurred in 950,000 people and caused 723,000 deaths. Before the 1930s in much of the world, it was the most common cause of death from cancer. Rates of death have been decreasing in many areas of the world. In this, we are going to discuss about a case of 70 yr old woman presenting with mass in the epigastrium was diagnosed to be stage 4 adenosquamous type of gastric carcinoma who has undergone subtotal gastrectomy with chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Aims of the study was to observe the pattern of injuries in asphyxial death on gross and radiological examination. Evidence of extravasations of blood around the fracture site was accepted as antemortem in presence of other injuries to neck like bruises and soft tissue haemorrhage. Therefore, gross & radiological examination of the hyoid bone is to decide the actual manner of death.
