Forensic science aims to serve society by advancing justice. It is important that forensic scientists should aware of mold and fungal growth in their laboratory premises and should take actions, wherever possible, to reduce the growth of harmful fungi as well as unnecessary potential hazard. The mycotoxins produced by these fungi create several diseases. The present scenario of mold and fungi management in Indian forensic laboratories is grim. However there is an emerging concern regarding fungi management. It should be mandatory for the forensic laboratories to ensure any adverse effect to human health and environment. This study intends to create awareness regarding identification, prevention and remediation of fungi, mold and mycotoxins in forensic laboratories.

The paper present some characteristics of a dog’s sensing power towards explosives and a challenging threat on dog squad by the introduction of machine based sensors. It includes the working of a potential squad and its drawbacks in certain fields. In this technological era scientists are busy with technology and machines for all purposes including explosive detecting machines. Some recent studies shows sensors are mimics of nose of a dog with improvements and are capable of detecting explosives very effectively but are they quite alike dog’s olfaction without drawback is the common question arising.

Introduction: Transgender community in India has been facing challenges in various issues since ages. They are debarred from their rights related to marriage and child adoption. Pertaining to rights related to inheritance, wills and trusts, employment, access to Government, public and private health care services, and use of social welfare and health insurance schemes, they are far behind. The recent advances in the field of medicine have made the treating physicians belief that after careful selection of the patients based on standard criteria, the gender identity disorder or transsexualism can be diagnosed and successfully treated by reassignment surgery, which in turn created, a new gender. This new gender, has further led to many legal complications for postoperative transsexuals in our country. Materials and Methods: Desk review and qualitative data were consummated for the purpose of this study. Result and Conclusion : This article examines transsexualism in purview of the historical perspective and its genesis factors, and also draws attention to medico-legal considerations arising of Sex reassignment surgery.

Objective: To study the epidemiological profile in Deaths due to hanging, which is a common suicidal tool. To analyze the increase incidence of male death Materials and Methods : A prospective study consisting of 40 suicide cases of hanging during the period of January 2012 to September 2013 brought to the mortuary of Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Chennai. Results: It was observed that deaths due to hanging constituted 15% of the total unnatural deaths subjected to medico-legal autopsy; young adults, of the age group 21 to 30 years accounted for the maximum cases, with a male: female ratio of 3:1. 70% of the victims preferred closed room, 77.5% of them used soft and broad ligature material. Conclusion: This study highlight the importance of once mentality, where male gender are being highly encounter for ending up their lives due to stress in their family life. Gender is not a criterion for depression.

Background: Human organ weights play a significant role in clinical and forensic settings, as cause of death in suicidal cases may affect organ weight and may be used in the detection of anatomical and pathological abnormalities. Aims: Our study’s aim is to find out a correlation between organ weights and suicide and any variations in organ weight if different method of suicide is used. Materials and Methods: Present study was conducted in the department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Lady Hardinge Medical College on a total of 50 cases of suicide brought to the mortuary for post-mortem examination. The socio-demographic profile of victims of suicide was analyzed after obtaining the relevant data from the relatives and the accompanying investigating officer.Weights of various internal organs of the body were also measured and any changes in the weight recorded. All the internal organs were weighed using organ weight measuring machine and noted for any change in the weight. Results: Hanging was the most common method (62%), followed by poisoning (24%) and self immolation (10%). The weights of internal organs were increased in majority of cases of suicides. Conclusion: There was a positive correlation between weight of internal organs and cause of death mainly in hanging, poisoning and burns suicidal cases. Keywords: Suicide, Different methods of suicide, Internal organ weight, Brain edema.
