Soft tissues are unable to provide reliable information of human identification in mass disasters, it is largely feasible with skeletal remains especially teeth. There is a crucial need of new and dependable methods for recognition and confirmation of victims in mass disasters such as military conflicts and wars as well as in natural disasters that involves multiple fatalities. Forensic Odontology recently employed various methods like rugoscopy, dental labelling, DNA analysis from dental pulp, bite marks analysis, etc. Currently it embraces the study of enamel rods end patterns. The study of these enamel rod end patterns is known as Ameloglyphics.

Dentigerous cyst is an odontogenic cyst of developmental origin associated with the crown of an impacted, unerupted or partially erupted tooth. It is generally discovered only on routine radiographic examination. It is usually seen as a unilocular, well-defined pericoronal radiolucent area. The cyst cavity is lined by epithelial cells derived from the reduced enamel epithelium of the tooth. This cyst remain initially completely asymptomatic unless when infected secondarily. Here, two cases of dentigerous cyst are discussed.

Oral Epithelial Dysplasia (OED) appears as chronic, progressive, premaligant lesions of the oral mucosa, which are considered as the forerunner of Oral cancers, is a threat to the public accounting for increasing number of new cases and deaths worldwide, every year. Most of the oral cancers are detected at a late stage which is difficult to treat as well as has poor prognosis. The application of advanced molecular biological and biochemical methodologies to elucidate the biomarkers of these potentially malignant disorders may help in early detection of these lesions. A precise and more accurate marker which has the potential to predict the progression of a potentially malignant disorder to a malignant state, will enable early diagnosis as well as targeting of these lesions for the subsequent modification of treatment and follow up. One of the important molecular change which accompanies the transformation of a potentially malignant disorder involving the oral cavity to a malignant state is, elevation of serum levels of enzyme, Creatine Phosphokinase, which occurs on account of damage to the connective tissue cells and the deeper submucosal layers due to invasion by the malignant cells. The present study is undertaken to compare the levels of enzyme, Creatine phosphokinase in the serum and saliva of patients with oral dysplastic lesions and henceforth to assess the usefulness of these enzymes as a diagnostic marker of early transformation of these dysplastic lesions to a malignant state. Keywords: CPK, OED, PMD.

An odontoma, also termed as an odontome is a benign odontogenic tumor of developmental origin. Odontoma is a dental hamartoma. It is composed of normal dental tissue that has grown in an irregular way. The condition is frequently associated with unerupted teeth . It is generally detected through failure of teeth to erupt at the expected time. The management depends upon the early diagnosis, histopathological examination and excision. This article elaborates regarding its development, classification, etiological factors, occurrence, diagnosis and management and correlate with case reports. Keywords: Odontome, Odontoma, Compound, Complex, Impacted tooth.

Bone resorption in posterior mandibular region creates a challenge in placement of dental implants and prosthetic rehabilitation due to presence of inferior alveolar nerve (IAN). Several alternatives treatment modalities are suggested: the use of short implants, cortical implants, guided bone regeneration, appositional bone grafting (both autogenous and allograft), distraction osteogenesis, inclined implants tangential to mandibular canal, and the lateralization of the inferior alveolar nerve. In this paper, we will present IAN repositioning cases and simultaneous implant placement and asses the success of implants, severity of nuerosensory disturbances and its impact on present day implant dentistry. Keywords: Inferior alveolar nerve (IAN), Nerve repositioning, Dental implants, Mandibular atrophy, Nuerosensory disturbances.

Peripheral ameloblastoma, also called as extraosseous ameloblastoma is a rare variant of ameloblastoma. It comprises of 2-10% of all ameloblastomas. This lesion can be mistaken for any other peripheral lesion both clinically and radiographically. Hence a correlation between the clinical, radiographical and histopathological findings is inevitable. Herewith we present a case of peripheral ameloblastoma in a 47-year-old male patient affecting the lingual alveolar mucosa of the mandibular region with complete clinical, radiological and histopathological details. Keywords: Gingiva, Ameloblastoma, Odontogenic Tumors.

Exodontia is a routine procedure carried out in Dentistry. The most common outcome of extraction is the uneventful healing of the extraction wound, with a very few exceptions of improper or incomplete healing estimated to be about 1.0 to 11.5%.  To name a few complications like haemorrhage, pain, discharge, foul odour usually, whereas uncommonly we can see acute alveolar osteitis, trismus, bone dehiscence and rarely hypertrophied clot. We report a rare case of a massive postoperative clot formation mimicking a fast enlarging neoplasm after tooth extraction and a highlight on the various oral complications of surgical procedures. Keywords: Exodontia, Post-operative complication, Exophytic lesion, Hypertrophic clot, Vascular lesion, Pyogenic granuloma, Tumour.
