A second-order derivative-based edge preserving image interpolation 基于二阶导数的边缘保持图像插值

It is a challenging work to reproduce the high resolution image from the low resolution input while preserving edge structures without causing visual artifacts such as blurring, ringing and jagging. In this paper, we propose an edge guided interpolation method exploiting a data fusion strategy, which interpolates a missing pixel by a weighted sum of directional data estimates for two orthogonal directions. Firstly, each directional data estimate is calculated by 1-D bicubic method along the corresponding direction. Then, we employ the curvature, the second-order directional derivative, to obtain the weights for data fusion. The curvature of the missing pixel decreases as the direction of the curvature is closer to the edge orientation. Experimental results show that the proposed method does not only require the lower computational complexity but also perform better in terms of both subjective and objective visual quality as compared with the state of the art image interpolation algorithms.

Camera-based color calibration method for multiple flat-panel display system 基于摄像机的多平面显示系统色彩标定方法

Multiple flat-panel displays may often seem different in color, even though they are of the same brand and model. As a result, users experience visual fatigue as well as degraded quality while watching displayed contents. In this paper, we propose a method of calibrating multiple displays simultaneously with the use of ordinary cameras, such as a smartphone camera. In the proposed method, brightness synchronization and white point matching are performed for multiple display calibration. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves a truly unnoticeable color difference between the adjacent displays in terms of ΔE*94, the standard color distance metric.

Extracting daily patterns of human activity using non-negative matrix factorization 使用非负矩阵分解提取人类活动的日常模式

This paper presents an algorithm to mine basic patterns of human activities on a daily basis using non-negative matrix factorization (NMF). The greatest benefit of the algorithm is that it can elicit patterns from which meanings can be easily interpreted. To confirm its performance, the proposed algorithm was applied to PC logging data collected from three occupations in offices. Daily patterns of software usage were extracted for each occupation. Results show that each occupation uses specific software in its own time period, and uses several types of software in parallel in its own combinations. Experiment results also show that patterns of 144 dimension vectors were compressible to those of 11 dimension vectors without degradation in occupation classification performance. Therefore, the proposed algorithm compressed basic software usage patterns to about one-tenth of their original dimensions while preserving the original information. Moreover, the extracted basic patterns showed reasonable interpretation of daily working patterns in offices.

Fisheye lens-based surveillance camera for wide field-of-view monitoring 基于鱼眼镜头的监控摄像头,用于大视场监控

This paper presents a single fisheye lens camera-based visual surveillance system for monitoring a wide area. A fisheye lens has a wider field-of-view (FOV) than normal lenses at the cost of a barrel distortion in the acquired image. After correcting the barrel distortion, the proposed algorithm detects objects, and performs tracking using a histogram-based Gaussian mixture model (GMM). Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can efficiently detect objects by reducing the geometric distortion of the input image. For this reason it is suitable for not only surveillance cameras but also consumer applications of video object detection and recognition.

An RFID localization algorithm for a plug-in electric vehicle recharging robot 插电式电动车充电机器人的RFID定位算法

With the rapid proliferation of electric vehicles requiring battery charging from an off-board power source, there is now a need for an automated recharging system that if economical, reliable, and can be easily installed and operated in a home garage with minimal user intervention. This work reports on the development of a home recharging robot for plug-in electric vehicles. The main contribution is a localization algorithm for determining the location of the plug-in receptacle, using low-cost RFID technology. We report on the design and experiments undertaken with a hardware prototype platform.

In MIMO(Multiple-Input Multiple Output)-OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) systems, ICI(Inter-Carrier Interference) is generated by Doppler-spread in mobile reception of OFDM signals. The MIMO-ICI canceller with complexity reduction has been proposed. It is possible to reduce the complex. However, reception characteristics are deteriorated than the ordinary MIMO-ICI canceller. In this paper, the improving scheme of the conventional MIMO-ICI canceller with complexity reduction is proposed. In the proposed scheme, the iterative detection is adopted. As the results of computer simulations, the proposed scheme can improve reception characteristics with complexity reduction.

Smart home technologies using visible light data transmission are presented. For multiple devices, orthogonal code based time division duplexed bidirectional Visible Light Communication (VLC) link is employed. The proposed model for smart home is an efficient technology with superior BER performance, subject to locations in a typical smart home environment.

Online multi-person tracking for intelligent video surveillance systems 智能视频监控系统的在线多人跟踪

This paper presents a novel online multi-person tracking method based on tracking-by-detection framework for intelligent video surveillance systems consisting of an internet protocol (IP) camera and a network video recorder (NVR). First, the two-step data association based on high/low confidence targets is proposed for handling long-term occlusions effectively. Additionally, the method that reasons and handles severe inter-target occlusion is proposed. Representative experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method.

An application distribution management system for Hybridcast 一个用于Hybridcast的应用分发管理系统

An application distribution management system for “Hybridcast” is proposed in this paper. This system will enable a broadcaster to comprehensively manage Web applications provided by service providers from registration to distribution and enable the operation of any application to be immediately terminated in the event of a problem. This paper describes the details of the proposed system and presents the evaluation results of the system using prototype equipment.

Inspection of polarizer tiny bump defects using computer vision 偏光片微小凹凸缺陷的计算机视觉检测

In recent years, the demand of polarizer films has increased since that liquid crystal displays are widely used in consumer electronics products such as smart phones, tablet computers and large-size TVs. For improving production yields, manufacturers actively adopt automated inspection equipment to detect in-line polarizer film defects. This study uses computer vision techniques to develop a cost-effective optical detection system for the tiny bump defects of polarizer films. The proposed system applies digital fringes and image processing techniques to detect the tiny bump defects. Experiments show that the proposed system can effectively detect the tiny bump defects, and complete the defect inspection of a sample polarizer film with an area of 1600 × 1200 pixels (36mm × 27mm) within 0.3 seconds.
