A high mobility algorithm is introduced for OFDM systems based on the FFT which can compensate Doppler shifts in time-variant channels with low complexity. We first propose a channel matrix inversion algorithm with a complexity similar to FFT and then introduce a channel matrix construction based on matching pursuit algorithm.

A real-time surveillance system for IP network cameras is presented. Motion, part-body, and whole-body detectors are efficiently combined to generate robust and fast detections, which feed multiple compressive trackers. The generated trajectories are then improved using a re-identification strategy for long term operation.

In this study, a fully integrated Phase-locked loop (PLL) that is applicable to Universal Flash Storage (UFS) systems is presented. The fully integrated PLL is realized using a MOS capacitor as an on-chip loop filter (LF). To compensate for leakage current in the LF, a leakage current compensation scheme is presented. With the leakage compensation scheme, the peak-to-peak jitter and rms jitter are 40ps and 7.62ps, respectively. The area of the LF was reduced by around a sixteenth part compared with a metal insulator metal (MIM) capacitor.

We present an efficient pose tracking method for mobile augmented reality. Although the conventional pyramid-based coarse-to-fine approach has good precision and robustness, it is too complex for low-spec mobile devices and speeding up pose tracking is essential. The proposed method focuses on the rapidity and linearity of the movement between successive frames, and omits unnecessary processing such as coarse tracking in a stable scene by performing motion state estimation (MSE) and switching the tracking algorithm accordingly. Experimental results demonstrate that our method is consistently faster than conventional pose tracking by nearly fifty percent, without any loss of precision or robustness by selecting the most appropriate tracking algorithm for a range of test sequences.

This paper proposes a method that shortens the switching time to an affiliated channel when the receiving channel's mobile reception is disrupted and includes two processes. The first is a broadcast area map generation process that generates a database that indicates the receivable area of the digital broadcasters by sampling information of the current reception status and the current position. The second is an automatic channel switching process to an affiliated channel that is achieved by referencing the generated broadcast area map. Our method's effectiveness was shown using a prototype receiver in real test drive fields.

The most popular, fast and reliable voltage event and power quality disturbance detection algorithm in domestic and commercial appliances is the measurement of the RMS voltage value. Several measurement data sets have been checked in our proposed system and compared with other well-known metering methods for reliability and accuracy validation.

A wide locking-range frequency divider with programmable input sensitivity is presented in this paper. The frequency divider consists of two D flip-flop-based current mode logic latches and a current control circuit. The current control circuit adjusts the current ratio of the sampling pair and the latching pair, while the total current is maintained as a constant. The current control circuit enables the self-oscillation frequency to be adapted to the input frequency. As a result, the divider has wide locking range below -10 dBm input level. The proposed frequency divider is implemented in 0.18 um standard CMOS technology, and the measurement results show a 169% frequency locking range of between 0.5 and 6 GHz at an input power of - 10 dBm while consuming 7.2 mW from a 1.8 V supply voltage.

In order to offer the best user experience and cope with dynamically varying network conditions, new streaming technologies, such as adaptive streaming, are rapidly emerging. Accurate bandwidth estimation is a crucial component and a precondition of successful streaming adaptation. In this paper we will address the importance of bandwidth estimation and evaluate the applicability of bandwidth estimation algorithm originally designed for home networks in a more general Internet environment, in the context of adaptive streaming. The algorithm is implemented as a part of MPEG DASH compliant client.

We propose the efficient implementation of Filtering-Direction-Controlled Digital Total-Variation Filter (FDC-DTVF) for real-time image denoising. FDC-DTVF produces a clear image compared to the conventional pixel-based denoising methods, but has not yet to be considered regarding its efficient implementation. We conduct algorithm optimization by reusing a calculated criterion that is newly introduced in FDC-DTVF, since the criterion is almost invariant in each step of the iterative process. We also conducted a software implementation so we can more efficiently use the CPU resource. The simulation results showed that our implementation achieves the real-time processing for a VGA video, while maintaining the image denoising performance.
