Gridhrasi is one among eighty Nanatmaja Vatavyadhi, with the symptoms of Stambha, Ruk, Toda, Graham, and Spandana in Sphik, Kati, Uru, Janu, Pada and Sakti utkshepa nigraha. Kapha is also occasionally found as Anubandha Dosha, in which Arochaka, Tandra, and Gourava are observed. Gridhrasi can be compared to Sciatica as there is a close resemblance in the manifestation of both conditions. Sciatica is one of the diseases that is gaining more and more attention from scientists globally. Many institutions and Medical Schools are trying to find the perfect remedy for this burning problem. Ayurvedic treatment has a good scope in managing gridhrasi with Cupping Therapy. Because of the decompressive nature of cupping, this is a beneficial therapy to relieve pressure and pain associated with Sciatica. It is considered as a modified form of “ALABU.” Alabu works on the principle “Vacuum suction”. Here in this case study, a female patient aged 45 years with complaints of low back pain radiating to posterior aspect of right lower limb, difficulty in walking and numbness in right foot for 2 months, approached Panchakarma OPD of KVG Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital. The patient was treated with two sittings of Cupping Therapy with the gap of 7 days gap. After treatment a significant improvement was noted in patient’s signs and symptoms.

Dhooma Nasya is defined as the inhalation of medicated fumes through the nasal route and exhalation through the oral pathway. Vairechanika Dhooma Nasya is one of the three types of Dhooma Nasya used to eliminate Dosha from Jatru Urdwa Pradesha. Manyasthamba is one among the Vataja Nanatmaja Vyadhi in which Vata Dosha gets vitiated and lodges in Manya, causing Stambha (stiffness) and Ruja ( pain) of the neck. The vitiated Vata is lodged in Kaphasthana and thus involves Kapha Dosha in the pathophysiology of the disease. In Ayurveda, there are various treatment modalities; among them, Nasya has been given much importance in Urdhwajatrugata Vyadhis. Vairechanika Dhooma Nasya is a type of Nasya Karma indicated in the management of Manyastambha as it relieves Kapha Avrutha Vata Dosha. A 24-year-old male patient had pain and stiffness in the neck region, and on examination, there was a decreased range of cervical movement. The patient was treated with Vairechanika Dhooma Nasya for seven days with Vairechanika Dhooma Varti in the dose of three puffs in each nostril, thrice a day. After a follow-up period of 14 days, there was a marked improvement in pain and range of movement.

Ayurveda, an ancient system of medicine rooted in India, offers a treasure trove of herbal and mineral formulations. Yashada Bhasma1 and Yashada Pushpa Bhasma are two formulations that have gained popularity for their potential therapeutic properties. Traditional Ayurvedic medicines, such as Yashada Bhasma, have been used for centuries to treat various ailments. However, with the surge of interest in Ayurvedic medicine, there is a growing need for rigorous scientific assessments to evaluate their safety and efficacy. This study assessed the subacute toxicity of traditional Ayurvedic medicines, Yashada Bhasma and Yashada Pushpa Bhasma, in Swiss albino mice. This paper presents the results of a comprehensive toxicological study conducted on Swiss albino mice to determine the safety profiles of Yashada Bhasma and Yashada Pushpa Bhasma. These findings underscore the importance of proper dosing and further research, facilitating the safe and effective use of these traditional Ayurvedic preparations in modern healthcare.

Periarthritis of the shoulder joint is a painful, progressive, and disabling disease. The structures involved in the disease are joint capsules, tendons, ligaments, and bursae. The disease progresses through three unique stages: a stage of pain, a phase of stiffness, and a stage of recovery. In the conventional system, the treatment modalities involve using anti-inflammatory drugs and corticosteroid injections in the initial phases and surgical decompression in the later stages. This only gives symptomatic relief and has its complications. The initial stages of the disease present with Amsa ruk (Shoulder Pain) and Amsasandhi Sopha (swelling of shoulder joint) of kapha pitta predominance with Raktadusti. The procedures like lepana, upanaha and internal medications adopted in this stage do not give permanent and complete relief from symptoms. Thus, by considering the dosha vitiation in the initial phases of the disease, Jalookavacharana (Leech Therapy) would be an appropriate intervention since it has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects.

Water being the most essential and basic of life; it must be pure and free from any contaminants. Polluted water is main reason for waterborne diseases. Considering this, an experiment has conducted to study the efficacy of quartz in the purification of contaminated water which is simple and easy. Aims and Objectives: To carry out the experiment using Sphatika (Quartz) to evaluate its efficacy in the purification of contaminated water. Meth-odology: The water sample was taken in a glass bottle of 500ml; 1st group was used without any materials. Sec-ond group was subjected to filtration. Third group was added with Sphatika (quartz) in the quantity of 10, 25 and 50 grams. Each of the samples was assessed after 6, 12 and 24 hrs: for the physical, chemical and microbial pa-rameters. Results: Quartz reduces Salinity, Total Hardness (TH) and Magnesium; and increases pH, Conductivi-ty, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Total Alkalinity (TA), Carbonate and Bicarbonate. While there was no change in Calcium. After adding of quartz, the microbial colony count further increased. Conclusion: Quartz showed positive results in some of the parameters. It doesn’t possess an antibacterial effect. It can be used as a medium in filters.

Medical science hasn't been able to reduce the prevalence of congenital malformations despite improvements in diagnostic methods and therapeutic approaches. This is something that the traditional Indian medical system of Ayurveda has placed a lot of emphasis on and has proposed a number of countermeasures. In Ayurveda, Sahaja Roga, Kulaja Roga, Adibala Pravritta Roga, and Janmabala Pravritta Roga all go into great detail about the idea of congenital diseases. It has been made clear what the prenatal causes, safeguards, and disease categories are. In Ayurvedic texts, the significance of the Shad-Garbhakara Bhavas (six pro-creative factors), including Matrija (maternal), Pitrija (paternal), Atmaja (soul), Rasaja (nutritional), Satmyaja (wholesomeness), and Sattvaja (psyche/mind), is discussed. It is thought that for healthy progeny, these pro-creative factors must come together. In order to raise healthy children, it is important to consider one's own physical, mental, social, and spiritual wellbeing as well as the mother's diet during pregnancy and one's own adherence to a wholesome routine.

Bherali mad (Caryota urens L.) is the medicinal plant used by the folklores in most of regions of Maharashtra. It is also known as Surmad. Nuts of tree are popular by the name Ardhisupari means half betel nut. It is a long palm tree. Traditionally it has been used to make toddy and jaggery, so it is also called as toddy palm or jaggery palm. It is indigenous to India and Srilanka. It is found in moist forest of western and eastern coasts and cool, shady valley of Chota Nagpur, Orissa, West Bengal and Eastern India. It is now cultivated in Malaysia, Burma, Philippines and Indonesia. Frequently cultivated in gardens. Tribal areas in Maharashtra like Konkan and Bheemashakar used this plant for many purposes as making toddy, jaggery and also in disease conditions viz. burning sensation, arthritis, migrains, generalized weakness, thirst, fatigue, urinary disorders etc. Action of this if taken internally then nutritious, aphrodisiacs and laxative. Most likely it is used as an application of juice ( toddy) on forehead in hemicrania. A glass of freshly drawn toddy is taken in hemicrania. Nut made into paste and applied on forehead in hemicrania. Bherali mad ( Caryota urens L.) is Anukta dravya which has many medicinal properties, but it is an underutilized. Main aim of this paper is to explore medicinal properties and phytoconstitute of Bherali mad and drawn it to the mainstream so that we can use this medicine to the fullest extent and make it beneficial for people.

In Ayurvedic classics, almost all gynecological disorders come under the big heading of Yonivyapada. This also includes menstrual disorders, abortions or stillbirths and diseases of uterus, cervix and vagina. Chronic cervicitis is judged by the presence of a heavy mixed chronic inflammatory cell infiltrate. This condition causes congestion and fibrosis of cervix and is characterized by mucopurulent vaginal discharge with foul smelling, pruritus vulvae, dyspareunia, failure of conception etc. The disease chronic cervicitis can be put parallel to kaphaj yoni vyapada on the basis of signs and symptoms. Here an attempt has been made to correlate chronic cervicitis with kaphaj yoni vyapada describes in Ayurvedic classics.

Nutrition is an integral part of development. In India, the prevalence of low birth weight has been reported as 26%, which is associated with perinatal morbidity and mortality1 . Not only adults but also a growing fetus requires a good source of nutrition right from fertilization till birth. A sufficient amount of nutrition is necessary for the growth of a healthy fetus and to reduce the risk of congenital abnormalities. Ayurveda has explained the preconceptional care for getting a healthy progeny2 . The process of Garbha poshana before the formation of Apara, that is in Asanjatavastha, the Garbha gets nourishment from Upasneha , Upasweda, and Tiryagatadhamani3 . This period can be taken as the first trimester of pregnancy as the Vyaktata of Anga takes place from the 4th month onwards. During this period the fetus gets nourishment by the secretions of fallopian tube and uterine glands in the form of histotroph. The anatomical structure which is involved during this period i.e. before the formation of placenta, for the transfer of nutrition is the yolk sac. The semi permeable membrane of yolk sac helps in transport of nutrition through diffusion during this period. The present paper helps to understand the role of yolk sac during Asanjatavastha of Garbhaposhana.
