Linux with programming tools Qt is becoming popular to develop applications in the field of agricultural, medical and sports practice. This paper describes the low cost implementation of multi channel Automated I/O controller using Industrial PC and high performance data acquisition (DAS) card. The developed system aimed to monitor and control the different process parameters by using Qt tool under Linux along with 12-bit data acquisition system (PCL818-HG). The system monitors different parameters from different types of sensors and the control algorithms generate an ON/OFF command to t h e actuators through a SOLENOID VALVE UNIT according to the set points. There are also provisions to display measured parameters as a trend graphs and history graphs form the stored data in files. Further system communicates to host computer or other embedded system through RS232 or Wireless IEEE1451.3 network. The developed embedded system, being an open platform not only reduces the software cost but also reduces the development time.

The paper presents a new Multi Inputs and Single Output (MISO) VM Universal Biquadratic Filter (UBF) employing only two low voltage dual output current conveyors (DOCCIIs) along with two resistors and two capacitors. The proposed circuit realizes six standard biquadratic responses, viz., low pass high pass, non inverting band pass, inverting band pass, band elimination and all pass. The filter enjoys attractive features, such as, low active and passive component count, low sensitivity performance, operation of low supply voltage (± 0.75V) and power consumption of 3.2mW. The filter was designed and verified using PSPICE with convincing results.

In this paper an optoelectronic XOR gate based on Light Amplifying Optical Switch (LAOS) was modeled by SPICE. The equivalent circuit used to implement this gate consists of only one LAOS and four HPTs. The input and output of the circuit are all optical. The model was used to demonstrate the functionality of such gate. This model can be used to improve and study the physical factors that affect such gate.

This paper presents a new versatile active circuit for the realization of impedance converter, ideal grounded inductance, FDNR, and R/C multipliers through appropriate selection of passive elements. The proposed circuit is realized using low voltage CMOS Operational Floating Conveyors (OFC) and grounded passive components, without using any matching constraints. This makes it attractive for IC implementation. As an application the proposed grounded inductance simulator is used to realize a multifunctional filter, which provides low pass (LP), band pass (BP) and high pass (HP) responses. The circuit also enjoys attractive features, such as, low supply voltage, low component count, low sensitivities, high Q and independent Q-tuning without affecting its pole frequency. Simulation results show excellent performance with low voltage of ± 0.75 volts.

For the automatic detection of cephalometric landmarks in digital skull X-ray, enhancement is required for selective emphasis and suppression of information in the image with the aim of increasing the image's usefulness, image smoothing filters are used for noise removal and blurring for removing small details which clutter the main shape. This image smoothing leads to better edge detction for recognizing the landmarks on the edges. This paper proposes a new smoothing technique based on anisotropic diffusion which gives improved results.

In this paper we review the development of CMOS compatible sensors for detection of injurious chemical compounds present in gas. Among the most serious limitations facing the success of future consumer gas identification systems are the drift problem and the real-time detection due to the slow response of most of today's gas sensors. We reviewed gas identification approach based on a microelectronic gas sensors technology and GMM. And found that performance is achieved using GMM with a success rate of 94% obtained for different principal components which is much better response with respect to other well known traditional as well as advanced pattern recognition algorithms such as KNN, MLP, SVM, and PPCA. This points out to an important result, which suggests that higher generalization performance can be obtained by using feature reduction and selection techniques as preprocessing techniques. Using the operating temperature as a parameter to tune the selectivity of the sensor chip to different target gases was also proven to be an effective way to improve performance of the overall system. This approach is able to overcome drift problem.

Transmission of compressed video over wireless channels remains a challenging task due to the noisy nature of the wireless channels and a single bit error in the compressed video bit-stream might cause the reconstructed video to be severely distorted. Numerous error control techniques have been proposed in the literature in order to minimize the video quality degradation caused by transmission errors in wireless channels. This paper provides a brief review of the recent advances in transport level error control techniques for wireless video transmission. In addition, the transport level error control techniques implemented in the latest mobile TV and digital TV standards will also be briefly discussed.

A fully computer controlled system has been designed and developed for measuring the density of solids by hydrostatic weighing method. The hardware of the system has been developed around 89C51 microcontroller. In this setup density of the unknown sample is determined with the help of mean density of the two solid density standards. The overall uncertainty has been obtained to be of the order of 0.7ppm.

In commercial cellular networks, like the systems based on direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA), many types of interferences can appear, starting from multi-user interference inside each sector in a cell to inter-operator interference. Also unintentional jamming can be present due to co-existing systems at the same band, whereas intentional jamming arises mainly in military applications. Independent Component Analysis (ICA) use as an advanced pre-processing tool for blind suppression of interfering signals in direct sequence spread spectrum communication systems utilizing antenna arrays. The role of ICA is to provide an interference-mitigated signal to the conventional detection. Several ICA algorithms exist for performing Blind Source Separation (BSS). ICA has been used to extract interference signals, but very less literature is available on the performance, i.e., how does it behave in communication environment. This needs an evaluation of its performance in communication environment. This paper evaluates the performance of some major ICA algorithms like Bell and Sejnowski's infomax algorithm, Cardoso's joint approximate diagonalization of eigen matrices (JADE) algorithm, Hyvarinen's fixed point algorithm, Pearson-ICA algorithm and Comon's algorithm in a communication blind source separation problem. Independent signals representing sub-Gaussian, Gaussian and mix users(sub-Gaussian, super-Gaussian and Gaussian) are generated and then mixed linearly to simulate communication signals. Separation performance of ICA algorithms measure by performance index.
