The present paper intends to discuss the place of women students from the Programa Universidade para Todos (Prouni) in private higher education, comparing two profiles of insertion characterized by occupational area, age and location of a university campus of a large private education institution in Sao Paulo. Based on interviews and fieldwork developed between the years of 2012 and 2014, we work methodologically as a case study with an ethnographic approach, and the objective of mapping the life trajectories and world views cultivated by these women in face of themes that are central to their class places: work, education, precariousness, mobility and, of course, the sexual division of labor and the social relations of sex. As women who, concomitantly with studying and the desire for integration, re-establish the questioning of bipolarity from a singular place: occupying precarious activities, allowing social higher levels well paid work, while at the same time seeking qualification through university diplomas to succeed in getting best formalized and stable jobs typical of peripheral Fordism.

Este trabalho e parte de uma reflexao acerca dos cuidados humanos nos processos de adoecimento, envelhecimento e morte de animais de estimacao. Em uma pesquisa empirica realizada a partir do universo de um hospital veterinario, constatou-se que ha hoje uma configuracao social de afeto que coloca aos individuos humanos como amar seus animais, numa especie de modelo a ser seguido sobre cuidados e consumos. Enquanto isso, aos individuos animais, agora inseridos num – sempre controverso – processo de antropomorfizacao, cabe uma vida cada vez mais controlada e organizada a partir do modelo de civilidade humano. Nessa organizacao familiar multiespecifica, ha espaco para afetos e desafetos, e emocoes ambivalentes, tais como em uma familia exclusivamente humana.

A Terra Indigena do Rio Guapore, localizada no sudoeste amazonico no estado de Rondonia, constitui um espaco multietnico e linguistico onde vivem dez povos indigenas. Dentro deste contexto regional, parto da perspectiva dos Kujubim, grupo pertencente a familia linguistica Txapakura, para pensar e revelar algumas relacoes existentes entre humanos, animais, espiritos-donos e aldeias subaquaticas. De antemao, e possivel afirmar que tais relacoes nao podem ser pensadas fora do contexto onde elas sao concebidas, isto e, dos espacos onde elas sao constituidas, como a aldeia, o rio, a floresta e os sonhos. Mediante diversas negociacoes destes espacos e das perspectivas dos seres - humanos e nao humanos - que os habitam, os lugares, os seres e as coisas acabam sendo classificados de acordo com estatutos diferentes, a depender dos tipos de relacoes praticas que sao estabelecidas por cada um entre eles. E nesse sentido e contexto, portanto, que procedo das seguintes questoes: como podem os queixadas serem, ao mesmo tempo, bichos para os humanos e “plantacao” para seus donos? Como podem peixes, que sao bichos para humanos, serem produtos da roca para o povo de uma aldeia subaquatica? Assim o e igualmente para as corujinhas-da-noite que sao bichos, mas donas e comadres da anta.

The objective of the article presented here is to carry out an investigation, based on the theoretical framework developed by Carlos Hasenbalg, of the strategies for maintaining racial and social inequalities in Carioca soccer in its early years. For this, we will consider as empirical landmarks the cases of the Bangu Athletic Club and the Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama, clubs of popular character, and the reactions of the consolidated rivals of the city, linked to the socioeconomic elites, to prevent the sports ascension of these clubs. Color and social position appear as criteria of distinction and obstacles to material and symbolic benefits. The tension between amateurism and professionalism, with the rise of Vasco da Gama, would provoke irreversible consequences to the soccer of the city.

This paper disagrees from a fatalistic scenario for institutions organization, especially those linked to economic matters. For Roberto Mangabeira Unger this is called 'dictatorship of no alternatives'. This scenario defies us to think about alternatives. We discuss about Unger’s social theory, emphasizing a notion of productive vanguards, connecting them to a practical, productive experience is growing worldwide: the FabLabs and the Maker Movement. With a bibliographical research characterizing the main points of the productive vanguards, as well as a field visit to a FabLab in Rio de Janeiro, we concluded that some of its particularities, such as tolerance with error, the task-review process and the sharing practice, connect the FabLabs with the notion of vanguards, in order to deepen the democratic transformation of the market economy.

This article has as main themes the ‘sacrifice’ and ‘peleja (struggle)’ in raising relations constituted by small landowners and their livestock in a rural community called Gois, located in Northeast Brazil. The article aims to submerge the reader in the house environment, where the activities related to the caring for animals flourishes by the legs and hands of grandmothers and mothers. These are women that assume the authority over the raising knowledge and properly practices on the ‘peleja’ with kin and animals. Together with the ‘povo’, or the community of persons who lives and transits between the house of Gois landowners, mothers and grandmothers struggles with children, grandchildren and livestock in order to make their live flourish. As I show in the article, web of aids are essentials to the struggle with kin and animals. Aids are given and received where kin have houses and chickens have coops. These aids are often remembered in ‘histories’ and accompanied with ‘sacrifices’ implicated in rearing relations with pigs, goats and chickens called ‘trabalhosos’ (laborious) by their breeders.

Esse trabalho pretende oferecer uma contribuicao para a avaliacao dos resultados da aposta feita por parcelas dos feminismos brasileiros em repertorios de participacao mais proximos ao Estado e voltados a institucionalizacao de demandas. Para tanto, analisa: i) a criacao e a expansao das instâncias governamentais e participativas responsaveis pela elaboracao, coordenacao e execucao das politicas publicas especializadas para mulheres nos municipios brasileiros; ii) a relacao entre a presenca dessas instâncias no territorio e a oferta de politicas para mulheres e, finalmente iii) o tipo de associativismo que se engajou nas instâncias participativas dessa area de politica. Os dados que embasam o trabalho sao provenientes da Pesquisa de Informacoes Basicas Municipais (MUNIC/IBGE) e de informacoes coletadas junto as capitais sobre as composicoes dos conselhos municipais.

Based on empirical research conducted in Santa Lucia, small town located in the center of sugarcane production paulista, the purpose of this article is to analyze mobility experiences of women who traveled from Maranhao to Sao Paulo. Inspired by native expression to travel, I seek to highlight the multiple motivations and ways of giving meaning to the mobilities in the researched universe. A considerable part of migratory studies, focusing on the perspective of labor displacement analysis, restrict mobility to the sphere of labor. Otherwise, in the universe of migrations, women are seen as those who wait for their departing husbands, or as those who follow or just accompany them. I argue, based on field reports, that women actively participate in decisions and negotiations about the coming and going of families. Beyond work relations, I also highlight the projects of building individual and / or family autonomy, the dimensions associated with the acts of knowing and caring, beyond the events concerning the separations, births and diseases as the main motivations and meanings that emerge from women's narratives. The trajectories discussed here were reconstructed based on research materials composed of interviews and fragments of informal conversations, occurred during the fieldwork.

Given the distinct context of the contemporary development of voters’ relationships with political parties in consolidated regimes and new democracies, this article aims to advance in the identification of predictors for democracy support in Latin America. We use hierarchical models that incorporate structural and individual level variables for the explanation of the phenomenon, with emphasis on the profiles of voters who consider their cognitive and political sophistication. Therefore, we constructed models that token into account the apartisanship thesis and the relevance of individual cognitive mobilization, as well as the national experience derived from the democratic legacy. Our results allow us to infer, on the one hand, that the cognitive refinement of the voters is more relevant than the partisanship for the support that they manifest about the different dimension of democracy. On the other hand, the quality and the persistence of the regime have impacts only in some dimensions of democracy.
