The Effectiveness of using Infographics as an Aid for Reading Comprehension 使用信息图表辅助阅读理解的有效性

The Malaysian education system highly regards the English language that the language is being taught in both primary and secondary schools for 11 years long. However, the Malaysian pupils seem to have not acquired the reading skills good enough. Therefore, the pupils need to have a support system that would enable them to make a better connection with their reading materials especially English reading materials and to lessen the cognitive load that they experience during their reading session.  The purpose of this action research is to determine the effectiveness of using infographics to enhance reading comprehension among primary school pupils with average and weak English language proficiency. Sixteen Year 5 pupils from a semi-urban primary school at Pahang, Malaysia were chosen as its research participants. This study was inspired by the theory of Multimedia Learning by Richard E. Meyer. The data of this research was collected through tests; before the intervention and after the intervention. The data were collected from the test and were analyzed. The finding of this research shows that there is a significant improvement in the mean score from the pre-test to the post-test. The pupils were able to comprehend the text better through the intervention.

Indigenous Student’s Perception of Multimedia Learning as an Approach for Enhancing Reading Comprehension Skills 原住民学生对多媒体学习提升阅读理解能力的认知

Reading comprehension is one of the language skills needed in processing the language, especially in comprehending information. Despite its importance, many of the students failed to perform comprehension skills well. Some of the reason was their lack of language proficiency and divergent approaches used by the teachers. Technology has been in favor of teachers and students in teaching practices such as multimedia learning because it has proven to help them in learning the language. Thus, this study aimed to find out indigenous students’ perception of multimedia learning as an approach to enhancing their reading comprehension skills. Besides, the alluring features of multimedia learning have ignited the need to explore its potential in helping indigenous students learn comprehension skills better. This study relied heavily on the questionnaire to obtain comprehensive data from the students’ perspective. The surveys employed four sections that covered attention, motivation, relevance, and satisfaction. The findings showed the students agreed that multimedia learning is an excellent tool in enhancing their reading comprehension skills. Despite that, the students disagree with the use of audio in multimedia learning.

The Role of Some Violence Factors on Jordanian Universities` Students to Increase the Level of Violence among Students 一些暴力因素对约旦大学学生的作用,增加了学生的暴力程度

The problems among students in Jordanian universities has increased recently. This research investigates to evaluate the relationship between some marital of movies and Jordanian university students through tow entirely new movie elements which are: Physically abuse and verbal abuse. There are many problems that Jordan is still facing in this reform process and support education and one of them is violence on the campuses. As such, this study intends to conduct a pilot study on two factors in the movies and their impact on the target audience. Data were collected from questionnaires with a total of 30 respondents within Al Zaytoonah Private University (Faculty of Economics and Business) and Yarmouk University (Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences) in Jordan and analyzed by using Reliability test. Findings of study reliability for all variables ranged from 0.90 to 0.909. Future work focuses on hypotheses testing to evaluate the proposed model among financial employees in the Jordanian public sector.

A Corrosion Inhibition of Mild Steel in Acid Solution using Metronidazole Drug 甲硝唑类药物对低碳钢在酸性溶液中的缓蚀作用

The weight-loss technique and the quantum mechanics calculations, density functional theory DFT and parameterization 3 method PM3 have been used to study the corrosion inhibition properties of metronidazole drug on the mild steel. The quantum scales factors of inhibitor required to determine the adsorption inhibition were calculated. And the efficiency of corrosion inhibition in 1 M of HCl and different concentrations of inhibitor was also determined. The calculations revealed that the medicine has a corrosion inhibition efficiency IE. And the measurements showed this efficiency as well. Significantly, the efficiency increased as the concentration of inhibitor increased.

A Study on Barriers Contributing to an Effective Online Learning Among Undergraduates’ Students 大学生有效在线学习的障碍研究

The purpose of technology is to ease people’s daily routines. Technology is applied everywhere, even in the field of education. The numbers of students who join at least one online course are increasing every year. This study is established to find out the factors and barriers of online learning. Barrier is defined as something (such as fence or natural obstacle) that prevents processes from being complete or running smoothly. Even before the using of online learning, it is imperative to address the barriers that can cause failure in online education. Hence, this research aims to investigate the relationships between attitude, technology skills, personal skills and interruption with the barriers contributing to effective online learning among undergraduates. Simple random sampling technique was employed to collect the data. Four hundred one undergraduates of UiTM Johor became the respondents of this study. Partial Least Squares (PLS) method was used to analyze the data. The results indicated that attitude and technology skills were significant determinants to the barriers of effective online learning among students. Findings from the study could benefit higher learning institutions to enhance and improve this platform in the future.

An Alternative Modified Conjugate Gradient Coefficient for Solving Nonlinear System of Equations 求解非线性方程组的另一种修正共轭梯度系数

In mathematical term, the method of solving models and finding the best alternatives is known as optimization. Conjugate gradient (CG) method is an evolution of computational method in solving optimization problems. In this article, an alternative modified conjugate gradient coefficient for solving large-scale nonlinear system of equations is presented. The method is an improved version of the Rivaie et el conjugate gradient method for unconstrained optimization problems. The new CG is tested on a set of test functions under exact line search. The approach is easy to implement due to its derivative-free nature and has been proven to be effective in solving real-life application. Under some mild assumptions, the global convergence of the proposed method is established. The new CG coefficient also retains the sufficient descent condition. The performance of the new method is compared to the well-known previous PRP CG methods based on number of iterations and CPU time. Numerical results using some benchmark problems show that the proposed method is promising and has the best efficiency amongst all the methods tested.

Comparative Analysis Between Nigeria and Malaysia Education Policies and Employability Skills in Tvet Curriculum 尼日利亚与马来西亚教育政策与Tvet课程中就业技能的比较分析

Nigeria and Malaysia have almost similar historical background; both had sultan as spiritual and government leader in their major areas, colonized by British and got independence in 1960 and 1957 respectively. Presently, Malaysia has recorded human development increments from 1980 to date and aspire to be a developed country in 2020. While Nigeria has recorded poverty increments from 1980 to date and it may likely be among underdeveloped countries in 2020.  The purpose of this study was to make judgments about Technical and Vocational Education and training (TVET) systems of Malaysia and Nigeria. The idea was to see what makes Malaysian system successful and how Nigeria addressed its TVET problems.   The methodology employed in this paper was analytical method of study that involved evaluation based on critical reading and review of materials which include Nigeria and Malaysia education philosophies, policies, TVET curriculums, employability skills, Malaysian Human Development Index and Nigeria’s Poverty Incidence.  Findings revealed that education philosophy and education policy of Malaysia is intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and physically balanced based on firm belief and devotion to God while Nigerian education philosophy and policy are limited to intellectual and physical development. Malaysia TVET curriculum is equipped with employability skills including core skills, generic skills and personal attributes which are likely contributed to Malaysian human development and full employment of TVET graduates. Malaysia has recorded increments in human and economic developments from 1980 to date while Nigeria TVET curriculum has not been integrated with employability skills which are likely contributed to Nigeria’s poverty incidence and high Nigerian unemployment rate across all educational levels including TVET graduates at both secondary and tertiary levels. Nigeria has recorded steady increase of poverty incidence from 1980 to date.

While Nigeria has recorded poverty increments from 1980 to date and it may likely be among underdeveloped countries in 2020.  The purpose of this study was to make judgments about Technical and Vocational Education and training (TVET) systems of Malaysia and Nigeria. The idea was to see what makes Malaysian system successful and how Nigeria addressed its TVET problems.   The methodology employed in this paper was analytical method of study that involved evaluation based on critical reading and review of materials which include Nigeria and Malaysia education philosophies, policies, TVET curriculums, employability skills, Malaysian Human Development Index and Nigeria’s Poverty Incidence.  Findings revealed that education philosophy and education policy of Malaysia is intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and physically balanced based on firm belief and devotion to God while Nigerian education philosophy and policy are limited to intellectual and physical development. Malaysia TVET curriculum is equipped with employability skills including core skills, generic skills and personal attributes which are likely contributed to Malaysian human development and full employment of TVET graduates. Malaysia has recorded increments in human and economic developments from 1980 to date while Nigeria TVET curriculum has not been integrated with employability skills which are likely contributed to Nigeria’s poverty incidence and high Nigerian unemployment rate across all educational levels including TVET graduates at both secondary and tertiary levels. A Derivative-Free Decent Method Via Acceleration Parameter for Solving Systems of Nonlinear Equations 一种利用加速度参数求解非线性方程组的无导数体面法

An algorithm for solving large-scale systems of nonlinear equations based on the transformation of the Newton method with the line search into a derivative-free descent method is introduced. Main idea used in the algorithm construction is to approximate the Jacobian by an appropriate diagonal matrix. Furthermore, the step length is calculated using inexact line search procedure. Under appropriate conditions, the proposed method is proved to be globally convergent under mild conditions. The numerical results presented show the efficiency of the proposed method.
介绍了一种求解大规模非线性方程组的算法,该算法将牛顿法的直线搜索转化为无导数下降法。算法构造的主要思想是用合适的对角矩阵近似雅可比矩阵。此外,采用非精确直线搜索法计算步长。在适当的条件下,证明了该方法在温和条件下是全局收敛的。数值结果表明了该方法的有效性。

A Conceptual Review of the Role of Teaching and Learning of Second Language Through Literature and Communicative Approach 从文献和交际法看第二语言教与学的作用

The paper reviews the role of teaching second language (SL) by using Communicative Approach. The main purpose of this paper is to analyze the importance of using literature and Communicative Approach for teaching and learning SL. The review of previous literature indicates that teachers normally prefer to teach L2 through Grammar Translation Method (GTM), which requires little efforts and few resources to teach [1]. Many studies have found that GTM is not an effective method of teaching SL. In order to critically understand at a deeper level the role of literature and Communicative Approach in teaching SL, this paper explores thoroughly the existing literature and analyzes various works done on the importance of using Literature and Communicative Approach to teach SL. The current study found that teaching of SL through literature and Communicative Approach is more effective than through GTM. It is, therefore, recommended on the basis of this paper that teachers of L2 should adopt Communicative Approach and literature for teaching second language.

Controllable Fabrication and Characterization of Gold Nanoparticles: Enhanced Therapeutic Approaches in Cancer 金纳米颗粒的可控制备和表征:增强癌症治疗方法

Energy trans-ducting gold nano-particles, with well-being physical, chemical and optical properties for utilization in different types of cancer therapy can be prepared through chemical seed growth reduction method. Gold nano particle is a umbrella term have a variety of size and shape. More regular gold nano-particles can be obtained by reduction of HAuCl4, selection of chemicals and parameters of growth medium are set in accordance with the required category of nano-particles. Nano-particles have longest dimension of 100 nm. Therapeutic treatments like photo-imaging, gene delivery, drug delivery, cell labeling and photo thermal therapy   can be done by gold nano particles.  They reduce the side effects of conventional therapy due to high target specificity and absorb and scatter specific wavelength of laser. Hyperthermia in cancerous cells is generated without damaging surrounding healthy tissues, cause the cell death by necrosis and apoptosis. The overall morphology of gold nano particles can be characterized by SEM and TEM.
