Bibliometric Study of Cut Flower Research 切花研究的文献计量学研究

Abstract Ornamental plants play a fundamental role in diverse applications, from cut flower production to landscape design and space decoration. The ornamental industry, which is part of horticulture, has experienced significant advances and mobilizes billions of dollars in the global economy, being also a totally globalized market. In recent years, this industry has implemented advanced production strategies, from genetic improvement to sustainability and supply chain, promoting scientific research in various areas. However, the dispersion of knowledge has hindered the integration of the various research networks. Therefore, this article seeks to provide an overview of the scientific production in the cut flower sector, establishing a reference line for researchers, using bibliometrics as a tool to identify trends and the scientific structure of this area of knowledge. The results revealed that worldwide since 1983 there have been 975 articles focused on this productive system, gene rated in more than 69 countries by 2750 authors who published their research in 160 academic journals. Relevant research topics that are already developed and those that need a more intense and integrated research focus on the knowledge already generated were also identified.

Application of melatonin and sucrose in prolonging the vase life of amaryllis cut flowers (Hippeastrum Hybridum Herb) 褪黑素和蔗糖在延长金盏菊切花(Hippeastrum Hybridum Herb)花瓶寿命中的应用

Abstract The effects of melatonin application by itself and mixed with sucrose solution on vase life and physicochemical changes in amaryllis cut flowers were investigated. Amaryllis stems with flower buds at harvest points were placed into vases containing different maintenance solutions: Melatonin (Mt; 0.01 mM), Sucrose (Suc; 4%), Melatonin + Sucrose (Mt + Suc; 0.01 mM + 4%) and distilled water (Control). Each treatment consisted of five repetitions, with one inflorescence stem per vase. The vases remained at 22 ± 3 °C and constant lighting of 13 µmol m-2 s-1 for 14 days. Immersion of stems in Suc or Mt + Suc delayed the initial senescence processes of the amaryllis cut flower. Vase life was prolonged for additional 2 days compared to stems immersed in water (control), increasing from 10 to 12 days of conservation. Floral stem mass was kept more stable; the degradation of anthocyanin and flavonoid pigments was delayed; and the stability of phenolic compounds and total carbohydrates was maintained for 14 days. These findings confirm the role of melatonin as a preservative in cut flowers. However, its preservative effect was potentialized by the addition of sucrose to the water of the amaryllis cut flowers. More work needs to be carried out to investigate the physiological mechanisms promoted by the interaction of melatonin and sucrose in the regulation of senescence in amaryllis cut flowers, including the analysis of gene expression and activity of the antioxidant system.

Trajectory of landscaping and multifunctionality around urban rivers: the case of Angers 城市河流周围的景观设计和多功能性轨迹:昂热案例

Abstract Due to urban population growth, there is increasing pressure to utilize open spaces in urban centers, particularly in challenging areas like watercourses. However, traditional approaches such as canalization and drainage techniques have proven ineffective and unsustainable in the face of climate change challenges. This research aims to analyze the landscapes and multifunctionality of river environments in Angers, France, identifying their functions and historical evolution, considering the population contributions and the impact on quality of life. The research employed a geohistorical analysis to examine the social, economic, and environmental dimensions through the construction of a historical timeline depicting changes in the urban space influenced by the municipality’s watercourses (Quantitative analysis). Additionally, key actors’ actions were captured and discussed through interviews and questionnaires (Qualitative analysis). This comprehensive approach facilitated the analysis of the evolutionary process of urban rivers and the identification of their multifunctional use, contributing to urban sustainability. The implementation of green and blue infrastructures (GBIs) played a significant role in this process, and participatory interventions helped garner public support for reintegrating rivers into the urban landscape. The interviews highlighted that the successful implementation of multifunctional infrastructures relies not only on clear legislation but also on political will and the adoption of sustainable economic alternatives.

Seasonality of chrysanthemum commercialization in the west region of São Paulo: the case of breeder 圣保罗西部地区菊花商业化的季节性:育种者的案例

Abstract The Flowers and Ornamental Plant sector supports an extensive network of entrepreneurs, in all stages related to cultivation, transport and commercialization. In this aspect, there is a great demand for skilled labor, making this sector a source of employment and income generation in the regions covered. However, there is great interference on the commercialization of flowers and ornamental plants by the seasonality of demand, which is often related to festive dates, weather, among other factors. Thus, knowledge about seasonal demands allows the sector to develop a plan, directing efforts to offer products with greater demand in a given period. This study aimed to generate information, through a case study based on the analysis of commercialization data, and verify the seasonal demand on the commercialization of ornamental species in western São Paulo. There was an increase in the demand for chrysanthemum cuttings, both for the domestic and export markets, during the years 2019 and 2020, in addition to fluctuations in the demand for some cultivars of cuttings of chrysanthemum in one year compared to the other. Through the analysis, it is concluded that the seasonality of commercialization of ornamental plants in the West Region of São Paulo really occurs, especially between the 26th and 34th week of the year, with the purpose of serving the domestic market of chrysanthemums. This result allows planning the planting and harvesting time, as well as the definition of the best varieties to be cultivated in these periods.

Between flowers and loves: the profile and behavior of the consumer with the purpose of seduction 在鲜花与爱情之间:以诱惑为目的的消费者的特征和行为

Abstract Since the fifth century B.C., flowers have been associated with seduction, however, no studies were found that could reveal how flowers are bought with this intention. In order to investigate the profile and behavior of consumers of flowers with the purpose of seduction, a descriptive exploratory study was carried out with 108 consumers at the time they purchased flowers with the intention of seduction. The study revealed that among people who bought flowers for this purpose, the frequency was on average of 1.7 times a year, with 64.7% of these consumers defining themselves as male people. No statistical variation was observed between heterosexual, bisexual and homosexual groups. Single and married people had higher purchase rates, with roses being the preferred flowers. Tropical flowers may represent a trend to be explored in market segmentation. The purchase of flowers for seduction was mostly associated with affective relationships such as boyfriends/girlfriends or spouses and the use of flowers in the search for new relationships or even fortuitous cases was also evidenced. Most respondents who reported that have received flowers described that it was a positive influence and contributed to feeling seduced. Finally, it is possible to consider market segmentation, however, it is urgent that the sector be organized in order to elaborate a diagnosis of potential consumption, elaborate consumer acceptance tests, define groups to be segmented, establish targeted marketing campaigns and create evaluation programs for consumer loyalty.

A novel approach for begonias micropropagation by inflorescence explants 利用花序外植体进行秋海棠微繁殖的新方法

Abstract Begonias grown in greenhouses are susceptible to devastating disease caused by pathogenic bacteria and fungi, decreasing the quality of propagated material. Plant tissue culture provides an alternative for rapid propagation of healthy Begonia material. The present study was undertaken to develop the protocol of micropropagation of three Begonia species and one hybrid from inflorescence explants. Male flower buds with part of pedicel restricted to 1 mm have been cultured in vitro on 6 variants of modified N6 media. Adventitious shoot organogenesis has been shown to occur from both pedicel and receptacle tissues under the action of any type of cytokinin applied, whereas BA and 2-iP triggered mainly the direct organogenesis, while TDZ proceeding morphogenic events through the stage of callus formation. For the culture establishment in vitro the most effective was the medium, supplemented with 1.5 µM 2-iP + 0.54 µM NAA with the addition of 40 mg L-1 adenine sulfate, contributed to the highest shoot regeneration from floral explants of all begonias studied. Histological analysis of adventitious buds pathways approved that their induction occurs under the treatment directly from the subepidermal cells. Morphological analysis performed after plantlets adaptation to the greenhouse conditions showed no morphological or bloom variations in the progeny, derived from the begonias inflorescence. The suggested technique considered as a practical step toward obtaining the uniform planting material for the propagation of economically valuable Begonia plants.

Abstract Adenium obesum belongs to the Apocynaceae family and is characterized as a succulent shrub with a multitude of botanical and morphological features of ornamental interest. The aim of this study was to evaluate the genetic dissimilarity of 28 accessions of A. obesum using morphological descriptors and multivariate techniques with the aim of pre-selecting the genotypes with the greatest ornamental potential. The distribution of the number of flowers throughout the year showed two flowering peaks in January and September. Twenty-one petal pigmentation patterns were identified, and 50% of the accessions had double-petal arrangement. The Gower’s algorithm and the UPGMA-generated dissimilarity matrix indicated the formation of three groups. While Tocher’s clustering method separated the accessions into eight groups showing greater ability to distinguish the evaluated genotypes. In conclusion, the multivariate analyses applied were effective in accessing the genetic diversity among the 28 accessions evaluated. The accessions ICA001, ICA005, ICA006, ICA018, ICA019, and ICA027 were preselected to compose the germplasm collection due to their high ornamental potential.

Floral quality in third-generation descendants of outstanding gladiolus cultivars obtained by gamma irradiation 通过伽马射线辐照获得的优秀剑兰栽培品种第三代后代的花朵质量

Abstract The gladiolus is one of the most commercially important cut flowers in Mexico. It was traditionally considered a funeral flower, but its uses have now diversified to many other decorative floral arrangements due to its variety of colors and forms. All the new varieties on the market in Mexico are of foreign origin, such that the generation of new genotypes is needed. In a previous study, flowers originating from irradiated Blanca Borrega variety corms expressed different floral characteristics, shape and size; however, it is unknown whether these characters are fixed in subsequent generations. The objective of the current work was therefore to evaluate the fixed characteristics in the ornamental quality of outstanding cultivars of Blanca Borrega variety gladiolus descended from irradiation with60Co. During the fall-winter (2020-2021) period, corms of outstanding cultivars generated by distinct irradiation doses were planted in sterilized substrate to evaluate corm germination (%), plant height, number of leaves per stem, spike length (cm), combined stem and spike length (cm), number of flowers per spike, flower size (cm), number of leaves, and survival, and to categorize cut flower quality under the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN/ECE) criteria. Our results indicated that the outstanding cultivar derived from the 80 Gy dose presented a Class I classification (Second quality) of the UN/ECE parameters due to its stem height and number of buds, followed by the cultivars descended from irradiation at 10, 30 and 50 Gy and the control, which were placed in Class II (Third quality). Thus, in the third generation the favorable esthetic characteristics of the outstanding cultivars remain fixed.

Nutrient uptake dynamics of Gloriosa for cut flower 金凤花切花养分吸收动态

Abstract Gloriosa superba L. is a recently introduced tropical species in Argentina, cultivated as a cut flower. It is extremely important to know the nutritional demands of the crop to provide the optimal amounts of nutrients at each stage, achieving quality and good yield in flowers, reducing production costs and environmental impact. The objective of this work was to determine the dynamics of nutrient absorption in the cultivation of G. superba for cut flowers, to facilitate the creation of a fertilization program, in order to avoid crop deficiencies and contribute to sustainable production. Tuber composition analyzes were carried out and, on the other hand, an essay was installed in greenhouse beds, taking samples at seven moments of the cycle. Fresh matter and dry matter of stems, leaves, flowers, tubers, roots and chemical analysis of aerial organs were measured to obtain the absorption curve. It was verified that only around 20% of each nutrient is provided by the tuber, being necessary the external contribution from initial stages of the crop. The rate of growth and accumulation of dry matter was shown as a double sigmoid, with maximum peaks in the vegetative stage of stem elongation and beginning of flowering. Nutrient amounts were absorbed in the following order: N>K>Mg>Ca>P>Fe>Mn>Zn>Cu. Fertilization rich in N, P, and Fe is recommended in the vegetative stage, balanced during the visible shoot stage, and rich in Ca, K, Mg, Mn, Zn, and Cu during flowering.
