This research on effect of nutrition education on the consumption pattern of secondary school students in Ikot Okpora in Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State was aimed to investigate the types of food available in Ikot Okpora.Methodology: Survey and purposive sampling was used to select three hundred and twenty students of the school since the number was small and one hundred (100) parents. Descriptive statistics, percentages and independent paired sample t-test was used to separable and compared.Result: The result of the study showed that majority of the parents were teenagers (36%) who were mostly farmers/traders (40/26%) respectively and who are majorly low income earners (N15,000,00) per month. A significant increase in some food items such as dairy products, vegetables, legumes, meat and fish product, pastas, baked products after and a reduction of consumption in food items of carbohydrates such as starchy roots a tubers, cereals, sweets/sugars. This implied that nutrition education had effect on the consumption pattern of the secondary school students. This finding also showed that nutrition education had effect in reducing the amount of carbohydrates and increasing the consumption of protein foods among the young students. The increase in baked products and pastas consumption could be allowed to enable the students take some snacks while in school during brake time. Increase in the consumption of fat and oil (margarine) should be encouraged as most margarine are fortified with some micro-nutrients. The excessive consumption of sweets and sugars should be discouraged as this could lead to dental carries especially in children and chronic diseases like obesity, diabetes, etc. The increase in the consumption of certain food items especially meat, and fish products and healthy snakes would lead to the healthy growth and development of the secondary school students. This is because, this is another stage of growth spurt, to enable them developing optimally, reduce micro-nutrient efficiencies, stunting and wasting, etc. Conclusion: Nutrition education should be intensified both in schools and community. School feeding programme should be implemented in the state/federal schools, so as to encourage the students to eat variety of meals.

This study investigated management of skill-oriented subjects and goal attainment in private secondary schools in Ikom Education Zone, Cross River State, Nigeria. To achieve the purpose of the study, two research questions were raised and converted to two null hypotheses to guide the study. Literature review was done based on the variables of the study. Survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study comprised 127 private secondary schools in Ikom Education Zone, Cross River State. All the 127 administrators of the schools were used for the study through census approach. The instrument for the study was the researchers-developed questionnaire titled: Management of Skill Oriented Subject Questionnaire (MSOSQ) and School Goal Attainment Questionnaire (SGAQ) designed on four-point Likert scale format. The MSOSQ measured 6 items, while SGAQ measured 18 items. The instrument was validated by two experts in Test, Measurement and Evaluation Department, University of Calabar. After the trial test, the reliability coefficient range of 0.72 to 0.91 were obtained which were considered reliable. The data collected were analyzed using Descriptive Statistics and Pearson Product Correlation Analysis at 0.05 level of significance with 125 degree of freedom. Findings revealed that management of Agricultural Science and Introductory Technology subjects did not have a significant relationship with secondary school goals attainment in terms of higher education opportunity, knowledge acquisition and learning outcome. It was recommended among others that Principals should ensure adequate management of skills oriented subjects in order to make students employable rather than job seekers. This paper examined the relevance of Basic Science, mathematics and technology as an important tool for developing entrepreneurship skills among upper Basic students in junior secondary schools in Cross River State of Nigeria. Due to lack of employment opportunities which has become a very serious issue in Nigeria today, the need for entrepreneurship skills to be inculcated in this students is very important especially at the upper Basic level where some of the students may not have the opportunity to further their education such students can use the skills which was inculcated into them to become an independent person who can now establish either a bee farm, can go into planting of flowers which in turn can be sold to provide money for him, poultry farm, snail farm, manufacturing of liquid soap, making of perfume, computer repairs and maintenance, construction of inverter. Employment of qualified teachers and improved method of teaching can go a long way in developing these skills in the students, it has been observed that lack of fund, qualified teachers and non existence of entrepreneurship club in our schools are some of the challenges that hinder the inculcation of entrepreneurship skills to our students. Adequate fund should be made available; awareness about inculcating such skills to our student should be created. Junior secondary school students should be taught on how to be self reliant and engaging in gainful ventures that can generate money for them. Every teacher teaching science, mathematics and technology should organize a field trip for the students as this will enable the students have first hand information and seeing things for themselves. It was concluded that Entrepreneurship has the potential of equipping individuals with skills that can help individuals to be self reliant even creates and generate employment for others.

This study sought to determine if any relationship exists between entrepreneurial training of public servants and their pre-retirement anxiety. To achieve this, one hypothesis was formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. A sample size of 1,500 respondents was drawn from the population of all public servants in the state, through stratified random sampling and simple random sampling. A questionnaire was constructed, validated and administered to the respondents drawn from different departments and schools. The research design adopted for the study was Ex-post facto. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used for data analysis. The study revealed that there was a significant inverse relationship between entrepreneurial training and public servants pre-retirement anxiety. It was recommended that public servants should undergo entrepreneurial training for skill acquisition while still in service. There is need for appropriate enlightenment programmes on retirement issues to be periodically organized for workers by government and non-government organizations to effectively prepare them for retirement. This will help to alleviate pre-retirement anxiety and at the same time bring about sustainable livelihood in post-retirement years.
