This paper presents a speed control for a DC motor. Despite the unknown parameters of the plant to be controlled, these parameters are found using a system identification method. The methodology implemented in this study is known as parametric regression and is based on an optimization technique. This optimization, through its fitness function, allows to find the system characteristics in order to make possible the system control. This control is applied to the DC motor speed through a cascade PI controller, acting on the motor current. Besides, the controller parameters are found through deterministic optimization technique, using the Quasi-Newton method. Simulation and experimental results are presented in order to validate the study and make possible the control of an unknown parameters system.

This paper is focused on an analysis of mutual influence between the circuits of different voltage level located on the same pylon. The significant consequence of these mutual couplings between all conductors including earth wires is a voltage induced into conductors which results in current asymmetry not only during a specific operations but also during standard operations. In the case, that some circuits are switched-off, the switched-on circuits induce voltage via inductive couplings to the switched-off circuits, which brings some problems for instance the circulating currents in the unloaded line. This phenomenon has been analysed on the quadruple EHV/VHV non-transposed transmission line and the capacitive couplings were neglected.

This paper deals with system analysis and control design. There are many ways to design a proper controller for a specific system. Usually, a good knowledge of a system dynamics is required to do so. The paper is mainly focused on the analytical method called pole placement. This method was implemented to the graphical user interface Dynamic systems created in the development software LabVIEW.

This paper investigates the electrical breakdown of biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film during accelerated DC and thermal ageing. The DC breakdown voltage of 6.5 μm thick capacitor grade polypropylene (PP) films was measured. Two types of films with different crystallinity were tested. 88 breakdowns per sample were collected. The scale and shape parameter of the Weibull distribution were fitted to the data. The scale parameter values obtained vary between 713 and 804 V. Results indicate that during ageing procedure the film crystallinity is an influencing factor of their breakdown voltages.

This article deals with the process of the experimental induction melting of aluminium oxide in so called cold crucible (CC). The experiment took place in a couple of steps, that were needed for a successful realisation of the melting. The first step was the designing of suitable parameters of the cold crucible regarding the depth of penetration of the eddy currents into the melted aluminium oxide and the output power of the high frequency generator for melting in the cold crucible. The process of the experiment itself then consisted in the preparation of cold crucible for melting. The overheating of the starting material to the melting point of the load. The melting of the load. The endurance of the load in steady-state at a constant temperature. The controlled cooling of the load. The removal of the ingot of aluminium oxide from the cold crucible. The article is dedicated to the process of the experiment with respect to the development of the heating losses considering the input power during the melting process in the whole induction system.

This work presents ensembles of general regression neural network for short-term electricity demand forecasting. Several types of ensembles are proposed which differ in the source of diversity of individual members. Diversity is generated using different subsets of training data, different subsets of features, randomly disrupted training data and randomly disrupted model parameters. Experimental study on several datasets demonstrates that ensemble learning leads to decreasing in forecast errors comparing to the mean errors of the base learners.

Progressive processing method which uses microwave assisted gasification of selected types of waste is discussed in this work. A brief summary of waste management in the EU and processing capabilities are given in the introduction. The next section discusses the legislative aspects of waste management. Substantial part presents the research results achieved when microwave assisted gasification was applied for energy recovery of sewage sludge, waste tires, sawdust and wood pellets.

This paper is focused on challenges related to an increased quantity of distribution energy resources connected to the distribution network within the context of newly defined requirements ENTSO-E, follow-up European standards TS 50549 and codes of distribution system operators on regulation of voltage through control of the reactive power in terms of P-Q diagram. A high number of connected and operated distribution energy resources results in changes in quality parameters of voltage in a distribution grid. The evaluation of the measured parameters enables to detect overvoltage or voltage fluctuations that are not in accordance with requirements of EN 50160 standard. This paper describes courses of voltage during operation of a wind energy converter (WEC) operated in parallel with the CEZ Distribuce distribution network (DN) on medium voltage (MV) level with the prescribed control of the reactive power to a fixed value of a power factor and the control of the reactive power depending on voltage. The measurement results of U, P, Q values evaluate an influence of the voltage reactive power in a point of connection of a power generating plant to the grid with regard to keeping the voltage within a range of operating limits.
