Linux systems became the platform to run desktops, servers, and embedded systems across the globe. No matter what are the capabilities of the system, operating system should provide reliable and secure usage of all system components. In order to improve and ease memory management of the system this paper presents LVM based partitioning modes as an alternative to standard partitioning model. Comparison analysis of presented partitioning models is given in order to help the developers to determine the best choice for specific systems and situations.

We present efficient 2D electromagnetic solution of scattering from electrically large and complex platforms. High efficiency of 2D analysis has been achieved by introducing nonuniform segmentation, higher order basis functions, and multi-threading parallelization. Additionally, we illustrate how 2D analysis can be applied in the process of predicting the results of 3D analysis. The method of moments applied to surface integral equations has been used for all simulations.

We present a wave digital approach (WDA) for the design of active filters based on high-Q active inductors (AI). The first approach proposed in the paper makes use of scattering parameters of the AI and has been conceived for RF practical applications. The use of active inductors in place of spiral inductors significantly improves the overall performance of the filter and allows to enhance both shape and quality factor with respect to a traditional passive configuration. With the proposed method is possible to take into account these improvements already at the design stage, so allowing to define the better topology and filter order. As an example of application, the filter has been optimised for operating at 2250 MHz with a 3 dB bandwidth of 30 MHz and a very high slope factor.

In this paper, a neural procedure for development of a microwave bias-dependant MOSFET model versus the gate length is presented. Artificial neural networks are applied to model the small-signal scattering parameters. The developed model is validated through comparison of the simulated S-parameters for three devices differing in the gate length with the measured data in the frequency range up to 40 GHz. The obtained results confirm the achieved good accuracy of the extracted model.

This paper describes the process of modeling of the Stepped Frequency Continuous Wave radar system in laboratory conditions. High resolution characteristics of the radar system have been confirmed by measuring distance to close targets. The spectrum analyzer model N9010A, that was used for the implementation of the VNA principle (Vector Network Analyzer), as a signal analyzer and the signal generator model N5183A as a transmitter, were used for the realization of this radar system. The results of the three types of echo signal transformations from the frequency domain into the time domain were analyzed and plotted.

Coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed slot antennas are attractive due to fabrication simplicity and ease of integration with active devices. In this paper, the modelling a CPW-fed slot antenna arrays with different dielectric substrates is presented. The examined antenna array consists of 14 CPW-fed slots of rectangular shape that are placed at uniform distance λg. The impedance transformer is used to convert array's impedance into 50Ω impedance. The plane reflectors plate, with dimension same as array's dimensions, is placed at distance λ0/4 from slots. The center frequency of all examined antenna arrays is 17.1 GHz. Presented simulated results show how dielectric constant and height of substrate influence radiation pattern of proposed antenna array.

Stochastic electromagnetic fields can be described by their field-field correlations. Modern broadband time-domain measurement devices and new characterization techniques facilitate accurate modeling of noisy EM fields originating from noisy or quasi-stochastic radiation sources on printed circuit boards or other electronic devices and systems. Stationary noise originating from sources with a Gaussian probability distribution can be fully characterized by its second order moments. In the environment of digital circuits, we frequently encounter radiated cyclostationary noise. In this contribution, measurement and modeling techniques are discussed for the characterization of noisy electromagnetic fields.

The paper investigates the possibility to employ Bluetooth communications in a heterogeneous vehicular ad-hoc network with the purpose to improve connectivity and fast delivery of short safety, signaling or cooperative driving messages. Intensive testing has been performed in different conditions to determine if the Bluetooth technology is suitable for fast linking of moving vehicles, in different scenarios. Variable length messages have been sent and different test conditions have been assessed. Suggestions for applications of Bluetooth in V2I (Vehicle to Infrastructure) communications are also given in the paper, along with an analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of employing such a communications technology in vehicular traffic management.

Since the wave approach has proved to be a very efficient tool for the microwave transistor noise modeling, this paper presents its application to the noise modeling of the microwave scaled on-wafer GaAs HEMTs. For the purpose of the noise wave parameter determination, the analytical approach is used. In order to achieve the continuous extraction of the noise wave parameters over the whole frequency range, the determined values of these parameters are fitted by exploiting the artificial neural networks. The validation of the presented noise modeling approach is done by comparing the simulated and measured noise parameters.

This contribution gives a review of our results characterizing the propagation in lossy biological tissues. These results were mainly obtained using a simplified spherical model allowing a description in spherical wave decomposition. This model is of course simple, but has the advantage of providing rapidly a deep insight in the main loss mechanisms linked to implanted or wearable antennas, and thus derive efficient design rules for BAN antennas.
