In this paper we analyze cooperative multi-hop system taking advantage of cooperative diversity at the relay and the destination. The relays with multiple antennas use maximum-ratio combining (MRC) of received signals from previous relays and source. The switch-and-stay combining (SSC) is applied at the mobile user at the destination owing to its simple realization. Probability density function (PDF) expression of received signal-to-noise (SNR) is derived in a closed-form. Based on obtained result, outage and error system performance are presented. Comparison of presented results and previous published ones is also done.

In order to address security issues of optical networks, quantum key distribution (QKD) has been proposed. However, most of the research efforts in QKD are based on a spin angular momentum (also known as a photon polarization), which represents a fragile source of quantum information for transmission over single-mode fiber (SMF), so that the secure key rates are very low, and at the same time the transmission distance is limited. In this paper, we follow a different strategy. The orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes, which are related to the azimuthal dependence of the wavefront, are orthogonal among others so that this additional degree-of-freedom can be used to improve the physical-layer security (PLS) in both wireless and optical networks. Spatial light modulators (SLMs) are routinely used to generate OAM modes in optical domain, in particular in free-space optical (FSO) communications. On the other hand, it has been recently demonstrated that a traveling-wave circular loop antenna, with azimuthal phase distribution along the loop, can be used to generate OAM in the RF domain. Reliability of FSO links is affected by atmospheric turbulence effects, scattering effects, and low-visibility in foggy conditions. On the other hand, RF technologies are not affected by these effects, but are sensitive to rain and snow. In particular, THz technologies, have available bandwidths comparable to a typical wavelength channel in WDM systems. Based on this complementarity, here we propose to use hybrid FSO-THz technologies to significantly improve the PLS of either FSO or wireless communications.

The paper presents a regulation of the non-minimum phase high order system by using the proportional integral controller. Controller parameters were determined by applying a pole placement method, using the Lambert W function on the model of the first order time-delay system obtained by using a half rule method in the reduction of the non — minimum phase model of the high order system model.

A new block-structure behavioral model is proposed for radio frequency power amplifiers in a 2×2 multiple-input multiple-output system including input cross-talk. The proposed model forms kernels of blocks of different nonlinear order that correspond to the significant frequency response of measured frequency domain Volterra kernels. The model can therefore well describe the input-output relationships of the nonlinear dynamic behavior of PAs. The proposed model outperforms conventional models in terms of model errors.

In this paper we discuss application of delta modulation technique to the modified block truncation coding algorithm. The main idea of the research is to propose a simple improvement to the block truncation coding algorithm and to analyze its performance. The proposed hybrid system is tested for a set of standard test grayscale images and the results are compared with the classic method.

Near-field scanning is an established technique for the efficient and accurate measurement of the radiated emissions from antenna or electronic equipment for EMC studies. Recently the use of two probes near-field scanning of the correlation of the radiated fields has been developed for the measurement of electronic equipment with many uncorrelated distributed sources whose emissions are essentially stochastic. However, it has been found that the use of two probe scanning is very time consuming and requires large computer resources in terms of memory and processing power. In this paper methods for reducing the measurements for the characterisation of complex electronic devices is examined through the study of a typical electronic device. It is shown that without any a priory knowledge of the device under test it is difficult to reduce the measurement burden.

Using manpower in situations where computers can easily take over and usually perform much better than humans, is at least poor utilization of both humans and technology. In the worst case it can bring to health and security risks and increase probability of errors happening. Sometimes it is easy and does not require big investment to update and improve current way of working with new technologies. This paper shows one way of updating weight measurement method from completely manual process to almost fully automated process by using embedded computer and WiFi network. Testing of both old and new system showed that improvement is achieved with the new system and the amount of time needed to conduct measurement has decreased significantly.

This article describes the features of the indirect calibration of the ultrasonic liquid flowmeters. This is due to the impossibility of carrying out calibration or verification of the flowmeter on a special pouring installation system or need for high costs to perform this operation. If important nuances were not taken into account when carrying out these procedures, this could lead to a significant exceeding of a permissible error. In turn, it leads to a negative attitude of users to ultrasonic methods of flow measurement in general. Within the framework of this article, the task is to increase the degree of confidence in the calibration methods used.

This paper features the theoretical analysis of higher-order filters obtained by the cascading of the identical basic filters with antiparallel configuration. The analysis demonstrated that two possible general topologies of multistage filters have identical electrical characteristics but different practical applicability. An iterative formula for frequency characteristics calculation as well as formulas for the frequency position of transmission zeros and poles are developed. The employment of the formulas with a program for electric circuits' simulation could give educational models for analysis and designing of this filter type at various microwave frequencies.

Decode-and-forward (DF) relay system where the relay node harvests energy from the source is analyzed, for the case when time-switching relaying protocol is applied. It is assumed that both source-to-relay and relay-to-destination links experience Generalized-K fading. The outage probability of DF system is analyzed and the accurate approximation is derived in the closed-form. Numerical results that show the impact of fading and system parameters are presented and discussed.
