Mathematics and programming: marriage or divorce? 数学和编程:结婚还是离婚?

The literature about teaching programming usually reputes its learning as a difficult task. Some of them studied different aspects aiming to identify the reasons behind the high failure rates, such as students' mathematics background and text comprehension. This study is focused on identifying which mathematical knowledge positively correlates with programming skills acquisition. We claim that mathematical concepts related to induction, inference and logical reasoning are among such knowledge. To confirm it we conducted a quasi-experiment with students who were enrolled at a first programming course (CS1). We analysed their mathematical knowledge through a test and gathered information on their difficulties and strategies used to overcome their programming difficulties. The data sample was too small to allow for strong assertions. However, the results indicates a possible correlation between mathematical abilities and programming potential. Also, students repute the logic of programming and teaching methodology as the main sources of difficulties. Furthermore, many of them prefer to ask their teachers or look at websites to tackle their difficulties.

Analytical Data Mart for the Monitoring of University Accreditation Indicators 大学认证指标监测的分析数据集市

The CAACES (Consejo de Evaluación, Acreditación y Aseguramiento de la Calidad de la Educación Superior), develops evaluation processes to accredit Higher Education Institutions of Ecuador. In order to support the accreditation process we propose an analytical data mart to a) obtain suitable information for its fast understanding and management, b) avoid the dispersion of the data required for the university accreditation. The implementation was initially developed with the indicators of students' criterion according to Institutional Evaluation Model of Universities and Polytechnic Schools incorporated by CEAACES and in the future, other indicators can be added by other accreditation criteria. The project was developed using the Kimball methodology and an open source tool of BI (Business Intelligence), the Pentaho suite. The BI solution allows the efficient monitoring of indicators prior to university accreditation, reducing the response time and resources in the report generation process.

In this article we present a study on how much the learning speed differs and how much information retention capacity children between 6 to 9 years old, adolescents between 10 to 13 years old, young people between 14 to 17 years old and adults from 18 years old Who have in the same conditions of learning, same environment, same classes, same tools and the same methodology, such as mental maps, computational thinking and scripting language questions with the aim of learning concepts about algorithms, objects and classes applied to create robots, IoT concepts and Electronic hardware concepts through different online platforms using Block Programming. In addition, the way in which the learning curve is measured is evaluating the ability to retain, skill gained and how much they have learned during the course of a certain time, also the methodology that they use to solve problems.

University-Enterprise as Educational Space for Students. An Experience in ProCal-ProSer Project 校企作为学生的教育空间。ProCal-ProSer项目经验

The engineering professional education is a constant concern of the faculties and it has been the basis for various efforts (research, development and innovation) to meet high levels of excellence. In this context, the student outcomes, as defined by the ICACIT (an accreditation agency), establish a set of expected characteristics (which are measured) at the end of engineering education, what demands new educational spaces to achieve them. The aim of this study is to present the experience within the ProCal-ProSer project, a process improvement program developed in small software development enterprises, as an educational space that contributes to the student outcomes. For this article an analysis of the student outcomes was performed, based on the experiences within the Project. The students, in partnership with enterprise, completed a cycle of process improvement and presented this experience as their final projects. The experiences developed allow stablish that the Project became a good educational space and it contributed in the consolidation of 11 student outcomes (from 12 defined by ICACIT).

Therefore the task of a young university as to minimize gaps with well-recognized universities is hat of the continue support to develop areas of research from the faculty-student binomial. In this manner, a well-designed route to enclose that policy of continuous interest and support to develop unstoppable be perceived as research might tentative path to reduce the gaps that might exist between a young university and its counterpart, a well-established university. During the last years as easured by educational authorities and accreditation operators. The results of this study might be considered as an alternative path to reach institutional objectives aimed to increase the quality of education as well as the continuous improvement of all university components through the dimension of the university research those impact has shown to be positive in severalaspects of the young university.

Predictors of Performance and of Psychological Well-Being in Engineering Career Aspirants 工程事业上进者的表现和心理健康的预测因素

Educational deficiencies in Peru generate that many adolescents who wish to study engineering in public universities have to study at pre-university centers, this being difficult and unsatisfactory. In this context, this study aimed to identify the predictors of academic performance and psychological well-being factors in aspiring students to engineering at a prestigious public university in Peru. The sample was of 157 students (120 men (76.4%) and 37 women (23.6%)) between 15 and 22 years of age $(M_{age} =mathit{17.65}, SD= mathit{1.31})$, between 6 months to 4 years of pre-university studies. The results show that the educational level of the mother predicts negatively the test anxiety. Studies' time and self-efficacy positively predict academic performance. In addition, time of studies and the test anxiety predict negatively to psychological well-being. Finally, the self-efficacy predicted positively to psychological well-being.

Cyber Exposed: The Social Networks And The Life Satisfaction 网络暴露:社交网络和生活满意度

The present study aims to identify the predictive relationships between the exhibition in the social networks, the self-esteem and the life satisfaction in Peruvian adolescents. The participants were 102 students (71 men (86.9 %) and 31 women (30.1 %) between 14 to 19 years of age $(pmb{M}=mathbf{16.93}, pmb{SD} =pmb{.89})$. One concludes that to exhibit the personal life in social networks on the part of the adolescents predicts in a positive form the publications in social networks of the parents, also he predicts the self-esteem and the satisfaction with the life. Furthermore, the self-esteem predicts the life satisfaction. Finally, the mediation model confirmed of significant form with the Test of Sobel $(mathbf{Test Statistic} =mathbf{1.97}, pmb{SE}=mathbf{.06}, pmb{p} < mathbf{.05})$ that the exhibition in social networks on behalf of the adolescents (variable independent) predicts the life satisfaction (dependent variable) when mediated by self-esteem (mediating variable).

An Interdisciplinary Platform for Undergraduate Research and Design Projects 本科研究与设计项目的跨学科平台

Students in the engineering and technology programs are challenged to thoroughly apply their learned technological knowledge and skills toward design and implementation of a challenging engineering project. In this paper, a platform for comprehensive interdisciplinary designs, which utilizes a synergy of competencies gained from undergraduate academic and research experiences with insight to the efforts concerning design project is presented. The platform is based on an interdisciplinary process for design and implementation of various unmanned aerial vehicle systems that involve airframe configurations, propulsion, computing components, camera and vision systems, sensors, actuators, autopilot functions, and data collecting components. This interdisciplinary platform provides students with experience in design, selection, integration, calibration, programming, and applications that require learning and knowledge from various fields of engineering and engineering technology. A number of projects that have been developed based on the platform in an undergraduate unmanned vehicle systems course in an engineering technology program are discussed.

PBL methodology and SME's participation as a proposal for a new teaching methodology PBL教学法与中小企业的参与——一种新的教学方法的建议

To improve the level of teaching and learning have been implemented over the years new methods and tools that complement taught it in classes. This article proposes the implementation of PBL methodology (Project based learning) with participation of SMEs (Small and medium enterprises), which have more problems to solve in this sector. With a previous study of the companies by the institution of higher education, they might want to consider solutions in the form of projects covering more than one discipline, these projects would be developed in conjunction with the students, the teacher in charge of the class and a representative of the project company to develop. The syllabus of the course would need to be modified to apply this methodology, which would allow students to develop new knowledge, skills and competencies to the course through the elaboration of these projects which would answer to real problems.
