Summary form only given. Digital technology and pace of life are closely related. Our children are living on internet as equals, rich and poor, fat and thin, handsome and plain-looking. We all live in era of “any-“ (-place, -time, -one, -where). Like most things, digital technology can be used for good or for ill, build or destroy. Digital reality offers an environment to be more funny, more courageous, provoking and even more aggressive in comparison to real life. If teachers and parents are not bridging these online environments it can provoke and attract children to behave digitally also in real offline life. “What needs to change about our curriculum when our students have the ability to reach audiences far beyond our classroom walls?” (W. Richardson) What to do when 1/3+ of teens are “texting under the school table”? We must find ways to bridge the social divide between school and education system and childrens digital life, as the mentioned disharmony can be a bigger problem than Internet, Facebooking or gaming addiction. Teachers should to consider that they teach to youngsters who are different from before, in their relationship with knowledge. To teach with heart should encourage face to face learning + self paced learning + online collaborative learning. Social and emotional aspects of learning are on the scene (social skills, self-awareness, managing feelings, motivation, empathy).

Although sound is a very common phenomenon, its understanding is not at all easy. The technological advance and economic growth increase the use of mechanical equipment resulting proportionally in the rise of the noise level in the working and living environment. Therefore, it is necessary to focus particular attention on the issue of noise in the teaching process at higher education institutions. The paper presents application of one of the most modern technological tools for localization and more detailed identification of the sources of noise - the Microflown system.

E-learning represents still dynamically evolving area of research. For one of the sources of its persistent topicality can be considered its close relationship to the development in the fields of web services, semantic web, online collaboration, and many others, that is constantly reflected by e-learning solutions. The view of e-learning solutions, in which they were perceived as an independent solutions designed specifically to support educational processes, is changing, too. It is becoming increasingly common to integrate them into the wider context of Web portals of institutions and to make their content publicly accessible. A similar intent led us to design and implement the Web portal of Knowledge discovery course, which is taught at the Department of Cybernetics and Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at the Technical University of Kosice. Our intention was to create a solution to support educational processes, which would also represent a publicly available knowledge base dedicated to the topic of knowledge discovery, as part of the virtual laboratory of Business information systems. In this paper we describe the implementation details of the proposed solution built on the results of four ongoing projects. The solution is described both in terms of technological platform, based on the integration of existing open source solutions and our own extensions as well as in terms of the specifics of its content, which is based on video tutorials, collaboratively created documents and case studies.

As the way of managing the distance learning process are commonly used LMS and LCMS, but it can also serve as a supplement of full-time study. In our case we teach with the support of e-courses, in which teachers insert different types of static as well as dynamic (interactive) materials. The importance of the interactivity in e-learning courses is often neglected. The interactivity allows learners to develop and shape their thinking, knowledge and skills. The paper deals with using of open-source simulator of electronic components and logic gates (logics) in LMS Moodle. It deals with the possibility of interactive communication between the Java applet and the Moodle server. Students are able to send the realized task in the form of the screenshot of logic circuits directly from the applet to teachers.

During last years, we can observe numerous efforts to find more efficient approach to mathematics education, often joint to the emerging technological achievements. There are more interested parties in this process - teachers, parents, children, authors of teaching/learning materiel. Our paper aims to show the process of math education web portal creation, based on the strong collaboration of authors and teachers, whereas authors of the paper belong to all adult parties participating in the global process of educational reform. We show - using our own creation process - how to formulate, adjust and represent given parameters, how to open the discussion about the true needs of teachers' community, how to bring participating teachers to precise their interests and how to translate them to the algorithmic language to be understood by programmers. The principal points of this process are exposed as well as the true feed-back of teachers' community.

Education of IT technology experts is not limited to providing theoretical knowledge, rather, it should also facilitate obtaining practical hands-on experience. It is advantageous to provide these practical experience opportunities with the help of supporting tools available not only during main classroom exercises but also through other voluntary activities beyond the student laboratory exercises. The article provides the feature analysis of a new didactical supporting tool, the Virtual Router (ViRo). ViRo shall be used to leverage and enhance the delivery of university study topics in the field of networking technologies and computer networks. The tool will allow students to deepen their practical configuration skills in designing and management of computer networks and network elements in an online internet-accessible environment.

The presented paper describes an initial specification of the content of computer security course for non-professionals. Our ambition is to create an electronic version of the course in an e-learning form that could give basic information to workers - non IT professionals about potential threats and possible options of protection and to provide the possibility to verify acquired knowledge in the form of a short test. Our aim for the future is to implement this course in our organizations on the level of trainings for fire protection and safety and health at work.

This is the second paper presenting the iTEC project, we have first introduced at the ICETA 2011 International conference. The research is based on 5 cycles of testing learning stories and activities while using new innovative technologies in classrooms. Meanwhile the project has come to its middle point; the 3rd cycle of testing learning stories and activities is implemented in hundreds of classrooms of 17 countries this school year. The article discusses first international results from cycle 1, brings outcomes from cycle 2 on national level and presents new approaches coming with cycle 3. The project is focusing both on innovative pedagogies as on innovative technologies used in education. The iTEC project is funded by the European Commission.

The aim of this contribution is to provide the basic information concerning the course “Management of the Quality of Teaching at Universities”. This course was prepared within the framework of the operational programme Education “Package of Innovative Elements for the Transformation of Education at TUKE” (code ITMS 26110230018). In recent weeks we finished the implementation of the pilot course that was focused to the development of professional skills of teachers and to the enhancement of quality education at TUKE (Technical University of Kosice).
