Cloud computing in education 教育中的云计算

Summary form only given. Cloud Computing as an emerging technology is a new paradigm in Information Technology and can dramatically change our everyday life. The presentation summarizes the basics of cloud computing, namely the main idea, the definition, the cloud model composed of essential characteristics, service models and deployment models. In the second part of the presentation the new perspectives of cloud computing based education are discussed. Some higher educational institutions do not have sufficient hardware or software to provide the students full learning environment and experience. This problem is particularly important in various fields of Engineering Education. Cloud computing provides Service as a Service(SaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) which allow the students to access the latest technologies with a low budget. The last part of the presentation includes some tips for planning Platform as a Service (PaaS), SaaS and Iaas and reflects some security problems.

In this paper, we focus on the HBB technology and its evolution towards HBB-Next and HBB 2.0 This platform can be used for development of integrated applications for variety of devices and allows us the wide and cheap distribution of educational content. Proposed solution can be used also in development countries with low Internet penetration or with prohibitive bandwidth prices.

Assessment has always been at the heart of teaching and learning. The new model of modern schools and of the constructivism teaching-learning process lights upon the problems in assessment too. The question is how to evaluate the outcomes and activities of students during the lessons with activity based methods and forms of learning to which can belong project based learning and cooperative learning too. The assessment for learning (in different sources it called authentic assessment) can be the answer for the question.

eSkills IT fitness test 2012 in Slovakia 2012年斯洛伐克技能IT体能测试

The eSkills IT Fitness test was conducted again in Slovakia after two years. We picked out the data from 34,775 respondents, analyzed them and compared the results with our last testing findings. We focused on young generation aged 15-24 and tracked the IT skills development in students mainly at primary and secondary schools. We also compared the results of the students of different types of secondary schools. Some of the positive findings showed an improvement in this area, e.g. on secondary grammar schools or secondary vocational schools. There were also some less encouraging findings, which lead to reflection about the efficiency of ongoing educational reform, proper curricula and IT skills of teachers on certain types of schools.

Internet economy - Unique opportunity for Slovakia 互联网经济——斯洛伐克的独特机遇

Summary form only given. Internet Economy represents a unique “Online oportunity” for Slovakia. According to the Boston Consulting Group study, that was commissioned by Google Slovakia, Slovak republic has opportunity to become above the average Internet Economy. Today, Internet Economy of the Slovak republic (shareof Internet on GDP) is estimated at 3.3%, or 2.3 bln EUR, which is approximately the level of other internet developed countries. The share of Internet of GDP in 2016 is expected to reach 4.5%. Huge potential represents export with added value (technology export), that contributes in the whole Internet Economy up to 30%. Several leading Slovak companies succeeded globally thanks to the internet: for example antivirus company ESET, that has 150 million users worldwide, Innovatrics - world leading fingerprint-recognition software used worldwide, or GPS navigation system Sygic. Slovakia has a huge potential to stimulate set-up of other technology companies, that will create jobs with higher added value, will keep Research and Development in Slovakia, and will succeed with its products globally, thanks to the internet. In order to stimulate future growth of the Slovak republic, it is important to focus on support of education in the area of IT skills and start-up/entrepreneurial mentality. Significant number of Slovak universities graduates are unemployable at present. If additional expert trainings of IT skills would be provided to these graduates, their chance so finding jobs would increase significantly. Following an example of Estonia, Slovakia should start empowering children with necessary IT skills already from early age on. Slovak republicis in need for more university graduates with IT skills. These graduates will work not only in shared-services centers, but will also continue their growth and develop new technology products and software.

The potential implementation of 3D technology in science education 3D技术在科学教育中的潜在应用

We consider for innovative science teaching classes using dynamic images and integrated advanced 3D technology. The proof of the significance of innovative elements mentioned are the conclusions of the research, presented in the paper. Beneficial to practice in our country can become concrete proposals for the application of 3D technologies in the learning process. In addition, we offer suggestions for teachers and guidance on how to avoid potential obstacles in the implementation of technology in science teaching.

Interaction support in presentation system 演示系统中的交互支持

This paper deals with the design and implementation of networking support into presentation system. The analysis of the available presentation systems and possible sending techniques led us to the conclusion, that multicast is the best choice for implementing real-time one-to-many communication. The new system was designed to increase delivery reliability missing in UDP protocol, which is the most commonly used for multicast addressing. This system allows application to receive presentation updates made by presenter even if there are short network failures and updating packets are not received immediately. Such a communication makes it possible to share thoughts in real-time without the need for the participants to be located in the same place.
