Ovarian granulosa cell tumors represent a rare histopathological subtype of ovarian malignancies which are usually diagnosed in early stages of the disease and have a favorable prognosis. However, in certain cases recurrence might occur even if long disease free survival periods are encountered. The aim of the current paper is to discuss the patterns of spread in this histopathological subtype as well as the most important therapeutic strategies in cases diagnosed with ovarian granulosa cell tumors recurrence.

Postoperative embolism after pelvic surgery for ovarian malignancies represents a serious adverse event which might be fatal and should be carefully prevented. In such cases multiple risk factors have been incriminated such as the presence of the malignancy, particularly in cases in which an ovarian primary is suspected, the necessity of performing extended pelvic resections, the length of the surgical procedure, the position of the patient on the operating table or the difficult and late postoperative mobilization of the patient. The aim of the current paper is to report the cases of six patients who developed severe postoperative embolic complications after surgery for advanced stage ovarian cancer and to analyze the risk factors which seem to increase the risk of developing such adverse effects.

Primary peritoneal serous carcinoma represents a rare epithelial tumor originating at the level of the peritoneum which might exhibit common features with ovarian carcinoma; therefore, establishing the correct diagnostic might represent a real cornerstone and, in certain cases, the final diagnostic is established only at the time of surgery. Fortunately, in most cases the therapeutic strategies of primary peritoneal serous carcinoma and ovarian carcinoma are similar in terms of surgical procedure and oncological treatment. The aim of the current paper is to report the case of a 71 year old patient with preoperative diagnostic of ovarian carcinoma and in whom the final diagnostic was of a primary peritoneal serous carcinoma.

Endometriosis represents a debilitating disease affecting women at fertile age which is associated with severe symptoms such as chronic pelvic pain, dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia and infertility. The pathogenesis of this disease is not fully understood so far, multiple theories being proposed. However, more recently, attention was focused on identifying the role of genetic factors in endometriosis development. In the current paper we aimed to review the most important theories regarding pathogenesis. Furthermore we discuss the genetic factors regarding this illness as well as other genes that are suspected to be culprits in leading to this pathology.

The role of indocyanine green has been widely studied so far and numerous applications and benefits have been demonstrated. Therefore, the wide implementation of the method allowed a real time visualization of the vascular and lymphatic branches which should be preserved during different procedures in order to minimize the risk of postoperative complications. In the last years the method has been also proposed in order to achieve a real time visualization of uterine arteries during uterine transplantation, and therefore to maximize the chances of success of this demanding procedure. The aim of the current paper is to discuss about the utility of indocyanine green injection during uterine transplantation.

In addition, we discuss the importance of suspecting this syndrome in endometrial cancer and the genetic testing needed to confirm this diagnosis.

Cornual pregnancy refers to the situation in which the gestational sac is situated at the level of the uterine horn in the condition of a normal or pathological constitution of the uterine body. In such cases an abnormal implantation of the gestational sac will conduct once the pregnancy increases, a significant risk of uterine rupture, cataclysmic hemorrhage and even maternal death. Therefore, in such situations, surgery should be taken in consideration. The aim of the current paper is to report the case of a 39 year old patient diagnosed with cornual pregnancy in which conservative surgery and fertility preservation were successfully performed.

Uterine fibroids represent the most commonly encountered benign tumors among women at childbearing age which might significantly influence their capacity of carring a normal pregnancy. Therefore, due to the significant impact which might be encountered, attention was focused on determining which are the most important risk factors for developing such lesions. In this respect, nowadays particular attention was given to genetic factors. In this article we discuss the implications of genetic chromosomal abnormalities as well as chromosomal rearrangements in the formation of fibroids. We also report diseases that should not be overlooked when differentially diagnosing leiomyomatosis (MCUL1 and HLRCC).
