SAGE Skills: Business is a new product that covers essential skills that students will need to know in their careers, including data analysis, entrepreneurship, leadership, organizational communication, and professional reputation. It pulls information into a central location and includes text, videos, journal articles, case studies, comments from experts, tables, and more to help students learn in a self-paced environment. It also offers quizzes that help students test their knowledge. It requires students to take the initiative to use the resource, since there is no way for faculty to see students’ progress. However, that also allows it to be IP access controlled without the need for an account, unless desired by the user. Navigation of the resource could use some improvement. Links need to be updated and inaudible content replaced. It would also help if SAGE limited content to the current product and perhaps to some limited content owned by the institution instead of providing links to all of their content, which is confusing to users. The resource contains great content for students trying to learn necessary skills, but the interface and content could be improved.

CollegeSource Online is a source for information on national and international colleges and universities. Per the vendor, it has “thousands of users, including students, parents, advisors, faculty, and college administrators,” and “every day CollegeSource, Inc. sites receive over a million hits and log nearly 5,000 hours of active use.” It contains 169,409 catalogs and information on 138,816,469 courses, drawn from 7,492 institutions (as of August 13, 2022). Aside from courses and catalogs, CollegeSource Online provides each college or university's location and website, as well as information on how to interpret its transcript and a detailed profile. The composition of the latter can vary, but often contains enrollment, institution type, degree levels, accreditation, admission, financial aid, calendar system, and tuition and fees, among others.Navigating this database is uncomplicated, because its composition is simple and there are only two search options, a single search bar and a Search button (i.e., Advanced Search). However, several (though not all) of the limiters under the Search button do not work properly, diminishing its effectiveness. Nevertheless, institutions can be found by name and location with relative ease. No specific pricing is available; it is determined by student enrollment, so potential subscribers should contact the vendor for more precise pricing. The licensing agreement for this database is relatively short, understandable, and standard in its composition, so it presents little cause for concern.

Research Square is a commercial multidisciplinary preprint repository that provides open access early versions of manuscripts. Users can search and browse, as well as engage with the literature via commenting. If a study has been peer reviewed and published in a journal, the version of record (VoR) is indicated on the preprint record. Preprint metadata and the full text of manuscripts are in HTML, which makes the content more discoverable by search engines and has accessibility benefits. Additionally, Research Square is committed to accessibility in navigation and maintains a webpage indicating adherence to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WPAG) 2.1. While authors can deposit manuscript versions for free and manuscripts are free to read, authors can choose to pay US$100 to seek badge certification for a Methods Reporting or Data Reporting badge.

Interwar Culture

Interwar Culture from Adam Matthew is a rich and multidisciplinary resource bringing together numerous periodicals from the interwar period (1919‐1939) and covering a wide range of topics such as fashion, entertainment, home and family life, the women's movement, and children's literature. The collection consists of two modules: one covering the 1920s (which has been released) and another covering the 1930s (which is coming soon, presumably by 2023). Module 1 contains thousands of individual periodical issues from 27 different titles, ranging from the familiar (The Strand, Homes & Gardens) to the less familiar and, in many cases, previously unavailable online (Peg's Paper, Chums). Content ranges from highbrow fashion magazines like Art, Goût, Beauté, and Femina to low-priced homemaking titles such as Woman's Home Companion to children's publications such as The Modern Boy and The Schoolgirls’ Weekly. The collection also includes distinctive titles such as The National Advocate, purportedly the United States’ oldest temperance publication; The Labour Woman and Woman's Weekly, publications aimed specifically at working women; and Time and Tide, a uniquely female-produced publication covering politics and culture. Theatre Magazine, known for its sumptuous color photographs, is another standout title in the collection. The interwar period was a time of great cultural change and technological innovation, and the evolution of entertainment, culture, and fashion can be traced in various ways in the pages of these periodicals. With many of the included titles targeting women in particular, these periodicals helped define as well as record the changing ideas and fashions of this era, such as the move away from Victorian ideals to the more practical ideas and fashions of the flapper generation and the burgeoning world of working women. Boasting visually crisp and clear images from the pages of the original publications and a user-friendly search/browse interface, Interwar Culture has much to offer researchers across numerous disciplines as well as casual users simply interested in the significant and tumultuous years of the 1920s and 1930s.
内容范围从高雅的时尚杂志,如Art、go、beaut和Femina,到廉价的家政书籍,如Woman’s Home Companion,再到儿童出版物,如The Modern Boy和The Schoolgirls’Weekly。

ProQuest Black Studies (PBQS), launched in February 2022, is a multiformat database whose content is a curated collection of new and existing primary and secondary sources. The database covers a wide range of Black history and culture through a variety of formats, including historical Black newspapers, archival documents, government materials, videos, scholarly journals, and essays. Supplemental material includes timelines, bibliographies, topic pages, and collection pages for increased discoverability. The foundational content that constitutes PBQS is that of the existing database Black Studies Center in addition to new archival content, including historical Black newspapers, primary source collections, the Black Abolitionist Papers, American periodicals (selected titles on race and slavery), and British periodicals (selected titles on race and slavery), and forthcoming content, including streaming video, court cases, and more primary and secondary source collections. PBQS utilizes extensive keyword searching in conjunction with indexed terms to locate scholars’ specified research queries within the vast collection of resources, many of which are full text. As of August 2022, this database contains more than 8 million records across 10 million pages with content spanning from 1650 to 2020. ProQuest plans to update the database on an estimated quarterly schedule.

CELUS One is a software-as-a-service product that uses SUSHI protocol to harvest COUNTER usage statistics from library e-journal platforms, e-book platforms, and databases. It also includes tools for analyzing COUNTER 4 and COUNTER 5 statistics by way of reports, charts, and graphs. CELUS One's interface and usability are its most noticeable strengths. The simple design of the main dashboard is easy to interpret and manipulate. Librarians can view the status of monthly SUSHI harvests and manage the SUSHI credentials for each platform. Librarians can use CELUS One to analyze subscriptions, justify purchasing decisions, and demonstrate the value of their library. The product is relatively simple to learn and navigate. The design is intuitive, and the graphics are better than those of similar products.

Academic advising has emerged as a field of study within higher education. To further develop this field, advising professionals need to engage in scholarly pursuits, including research and publishing. One way of supporting advising scholarship is to create a writing group. Writing groups have long been used in higher education academia to promote writing and research. However, writing groups for academic advisors are less common. This article describes how one advisor writing group has achieved success in reaching its goals and the practices and methods that were found to be most effective in the group’s success.
