E- Campus as an Environmental and Pedagogical Tool for Online Support 电子校园作为在线支持的环境和教学工具

The Internet and the ever growing applications enable communities to share and collaborate through common platforms. However, this growing pattern is not witnessed yet even for elearning. This paper is based on a doctoral research which aimed at researching the ways students interact in an online campus and the supports that they look for and require. Content analysis, based on the Panchoo/Jaillet methodology, was done on four synchronous meetings between a tutor and his ten students. The UNIV-R ecampus, analogical to a physical campus, was found to be user friendly and the students enrolled in a master’s course faced no difficulties in using it. In addition to the environmental aspects, the pedagogical implementation of the course has driven the students to interact and collaborate significantly and this has contributed to overcome the problems faced by the distance learners. This completely online model was found to be fruitful in helping distant learners fight their loneliness and brave their difficulties in a socioconstructivism approach. The Impact of Knowledge Sharing on Innovation Capability in United Arab Emirates Organizations 知识共享对阿联酋组织创新能力的影响

The purpose of this study was to explore therelationship between knowledge sharing and innovation capability,by examining the influence of individual, organizational andtechnological factors on knowledge sharing. The research is basedon a survey of 103 employees from different organizations in theUnited Arab Emirates. The study is based on a model and aquestionnaire that was previously tested by Lin [1]. Thus, the studyaims at examining the validity of that model in UAE context. Theresults of the research show varying degrees of correlation betweenthe different variables, with ICT use having the strongest relationshipwith the innovation capabilities of organizations. The study alsorevealed little evidence of knowledge collecting and knowledgesharing among UAE employees.

Traffic Signal Design and Simulation for Vulnerable Road Users Safety and Bus Preemption 基于弱势道路使用者安全与公交抢占的交通信号设计与仿真

Mostly, pedestrian car accidents occurred at a signalized interaction is because pedestrians cannot across the intersection safely within the green light. From the viewpoint of pedestrian, there might have two reasons. The first one is pedestrians cannot speed up to across the intersection, such as the elders. The other reason is pedestrians do not sense that the signal phase is going to change and their right-of-way is going to be lost. Developing signal logic to protect pedestrian, who is crossing an intersection is the first purpose of this study. In addition, to improve the reliability and reduce delay of public transportation service is the second purpose. Therefore, bus preemption is also considered in the designed signal logic. In this study, the traffic data of the intersection of Chong-Qing North Road and Min-Zu West Road, Taipei, Taiwan, is employed to calibrate and validate the signal logic by simulation. Meta-analysis of Performance: Summarizing Research for Implementation of Reconfigurability 绩效的元分析:可重构性实施研究综述

The aim of this study is to identify the conditions of implementation for reconfigurability in summarizing past flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) research by drawing overall conclusions from many separate High Performance Manufacturing (HPM) studies. Meta-analysis will be applied to links between HPM programs and their practices related to FMS and manufacturing performance with particular reference to responsiveness performance. More specifically, an application of meta-analysis will be made with reference to two of the main steps towards the development of an empirically-tested theory: testing the adequacy of the measurement of variables and testing the linkages between the variables. The Interaction between Accounting Students- Preference, Teaching Methodology and Performance 会计学学生偏好、教学方法与绩效的互动

This paper examined the influence of matchingstudents- learning preferences with the teaching methodologyadopted, on their academic performance in an accounting course intwo types of learning environment in one university in Lebanon:classes with PowerPoint (PPT) vs. conventional classes. Learningpreferences were either for PPT or for Conventional methodology. Astatistically significant increase in academic achievement is found inthe conventionally instructed group as compared to the group taughtwith PPT. This low effectiveness of PPT might be attributed to thelearning preferences of Lebanese students. In the PPT group, betteracademic performance was found among students withlearning/teaching match as compared with students withlearning/teaching mismatch. Since the majority of students display apreference for the conventional methodology, the result mightsuggest that Lebanese students- performance is not optimized by PPTin the accounting classrooms, not because of PPT itself, but becauseit is not matching the Lebanese students- learning preferences in sucha quantitative course.

Product Ecodesign Approaches in ISO 14001 Certified Companies iso14001认证公司的产品生态设计方法

The aim of the study was to investigate whether thereis the promotion of product ecodesign measures as a result ofadopting ISO 14001 certification in manufacturing companies in theRepublic of Slovenia. Companies gave the most of their productdevelopment attention to waste and energy reduction duringmanufacturing process and reduction of material consumption perunit of product. Regarding the importance of different ecodesigncriteria reduction of material consumption per unit of product wasreported as the most important criterion. Less attention is paid to endof-life issues considering recycling or packaging. Mostmanufacturing enterprises considered ISO 14001 standard as a veryuseful tool or at least a useful tool helping them to accelerate andestablish product ecodesign activities. Two most frequentlyconsidered ecodesign drivers are increased competitive advantageand legal requirements and two most important barriers are highdevelopment costs and insufficient market demand.

From F2F to Online Sessions: Changing Pattern of Instructions in Open and Distance Learning in India 从F2F到在线课程:印度开放和远程教育教学模式的变化

This paper presents an assessment study conducted among the distance learners in India. Open and distance learning systems have traveled a long way since its inception and its journey has witnessed the evolution and adoption of different generations of technology. This study focuses on the distant learners in India. Sampling for this study has been derived from the mass enrollment from Tamil Nadu area, a southern state of India. Learners were chosen from dual mode universities, private universities, Tamil Nadu Open University and IGNOU. The main focus of the study is to examine the coverage and appropriation of students support services and learning aids. It explores two aspects: the facilities available and the awareness and use of such services. It includes, self-learning materials, face-to-face counseling, multimedia learning materials, website, e-learning, radio and television services etc. While exploring the student’s perspective on these learning aspects, it is important to understand the perspectives of the teachers. Two different interests are visible among the teachers. Majority of the teachers support face-to-face counseling. However, the young teachers are in favour of online learning and multimedia supports in teaching. Through the awareness is somewhat high, the actual participation in online is very low. This is due to the inadequate infrastructure as well as the traditional attitudes of the teachers. Still the face-to-face sessions remain popular than online.

The Relationship between Students- Socio-Economic Backgrounds and Student Residential Satisfaction 学生社会经济背景与学生居住满意度的关系

Debates on residential satisfaction topic have beenvigorously discussed in family house setting. Nonetheless, less orlack of attention was given to survey on student residentialsatisfaction in the campus house setting. This study, however, tried tofill in the gap by focusing more on the relationship between students-socio-economic backgrounds and student residential satisfaction withtheir on-campus student housing facilities. Two-stage clustersampling method was employed to classify the respondents. Then,self-administered questionnaires were distributed face-to-face to thestudents. In general, it was confirmed that the students- socioeconomicbackgrounds have significantly influence the students-satisfaction with their on-campus student housing facilities. The maininfluential factors were revealed as the economic status, sense ofsharing, and the ethnicity of roommates. Likewise, this study couldalso provide some useful feedback for the universities administrationin order to improve their student housing facilities.

How Do Politicians Recover Their Costs? The Political Economy of Representative Democracy in India 政治家如何收回成本?印度代议制民主的政治经济学

This paper explores the features of political economy in the dynamics of representative politics in India. Politics is seen as enhancing economic benefits through acquiring and maintenance of power in the realm of democratic set up. The system of representation is riddled with competitive populism. Emerging leaders and parties are forced to accommodate their ideologies in coping with competitive politics. Electoral politics and voting behaviour reflect series of influences mooted by the politicians. Voters are accustomed to expect benefits outs of state exchequer. The electoral competitors show a changing phase of investment and return policy. Every elector has to spend and realize his costs in his tenure. In the case of defeated electors, even the cost recovery is not possible directly; there are indirect means to recover their costs. The series of case studies show the method of party funding, campaign financing, electoral expenditure, and cost recovery. Regulations could not restrict the level of spending. Several cases of disproportionate accumulation of wealth by the politicians reveal that money played a major part in electoral process. The political economy of representative politics hitherto ignores how a politician spends and recovers his cost and multiples his wealth. To be sure, the acquiring and maintenance of power is to enhance the wealth of the electors.

PSO-based Possibilistic Portfolio Model with Transaction Costs 基于pso的交易成本可能性投资组合模型

This paper deals with a portfolio selection problembased on the possibility theory under the assumption that the returnsof assets are LR-type fuzzy numbers. A possibilistic portfolio modelwith transaction costs is proposed, in which the possibilistic meanvalue of the return is termed measure of investment return, and thepossibilistic variance of the return is termed measure of investmentrisk. Due to considering transaction costs, the existing traditionaloptimization algorithms usually fail to find the optimal solutionefficiently and heuristic algorithms can be the best method. Therefore,a particle swarm optimization is designed to solve the correspondingoptimization problem. At last, a numerical example is given toillustrate our proposed effective means and approaches.
