Embedding discriminant directions in backpropagation 在反向传播中嵌入判别方向

A two-phase backpropagation algorithm is presented. In the first phase the directions of the weight vectors of the first hidden layer are constrained to remain in directions suitably chosen by pattern recognition, data compression, or speech and image processing techniques. Then, the constraints are removed and the standard backpropagation algorithm takes over to further minimize the error function. The first phase swiftly situates the weight vectors in a good position which can serve as the initialization of the standard backpropagation algorithm. The generality of its application, its simplicity, and the shorter training time it requires, makes this approach attractive.<>

Study of plane wave absorbing effectiveness of conductive polymer films 导电聚合物薄膜平面波吸收效能的研究

A novel material, specifically, the conductive polymer PBT doped by ion-implantation with iodine, is studied to investigate its possible utilization as a microwave absorber. In the ion-implantation-doped polymer film, the dopant penetrates into only a layer situated close to the film surface. Hence the polymer film can be modeled as a two-dielectric layered medium, with the layer close to the surface corresponding to the doped polymer accompanied by a high conductivity, and the other layer corresponding to the undoped lossless polymer. Layered medium electromagnetic theory is applied to compute the overall reflection coefficient with a few numerical examples.<>

Moire deflectometry in aero-optics analysis 航空光学分析中的云纹偏转测量

The authors propose the use of the Moire deflectometry technique to determine quantitatively the refractive index distribution through a turbulent flow field. Gradient index axial symmetric phase objects are considered. Deflectogram data reduction techniques were introduced and applied to determine the index of refraction distribution for the objects under consideration. Approximate methods were tested and compared to the standard Abel inversion method. Moire deflectometry was used to measure the density distribution of a candle flame as a phase object. Both theoretical and experimental results are presented.<>

Estimation of sensor bias in multisensor systems 多传感器系统中传感器偏差的估计

An adaptive Kalman-filter-based technique to estimate and remove the sensor biases in a multiradar system is presented. The measurement model is based on the Taylor series approximation of the exact model and it incorporates range bias, bearing bias, and elevation bias. The technique was implemented using target tracks. The simulation results are presented. It was found that this technique gives accurate estimates of the sensor biases when given a reasonable model of the bias dynamics.<>

An efficient two dimensional moving average model for texture analysis and synthesis 一种用于纹理分析和合成的二维移动平均模型

A linear 2D moving average model which serves a dual purpose in the analysis and synthesis of stochastic texture is presented. This model is based on the assumption that a stochastic texture is produced by convolving an uncorrelated random field with a 2D filter which completely characterizes the texture. A simple and effective algorithm, involving the computation of arithmetic average, is developed to determine the parameters of the 2D filter from a given texture image. A major advantage of this algorithm is its insensitivity to additive noise, such as measurement error and quantization noise by which the image data is in general seriously contaminated. The 2D filter can be convolved with an uncorrelated random field to generate another image, distinctly different from the one given, that has the general visual characteristics as well as the first- and second-order statistics of the original image. Several synthetic images of real-life textures generated by this method are presented.<>

A line extractor network for binary images is presented utilizing the basic principles of the Petri-net architecture as the framework. A brief introduction to the Petri-net formalism describes the terminology, structure, and execution control required for general network definition. The authors discuss the line extractor network in terms of basic Petri-net notation and identify the required extensions to the formalism contained within the proposed network. Simulation results for several input line patterns provide an indication of the network performance to identify lines of various lengths, widths, and orientations contained within a binary image. Remarks include a comparison with other line detection methods and hardware requirements for networks implementation.<>

The authors present the analysis and synthesis of a perturbed and unmodeled system based on model reference adaptive control. A novel robust adaptive control algorithm is described. By adjusting the parameter mu properly, it is concluded that the algorithm will be globally bounded within a specified region if only initial conditions are bounded. All signal vectors will tend to be exponentially stable as time t goes infinite under specified initial conditions.<>

Neural network-based classification of electromyographic (EMG) signal during dynamic muscle contraction 动态肌肉收缩过程中肌电信号的神经网络分类

A neural-network-based decision making tool was developed for online classification of various neuromuscular diseases. The problem was to design an automatic classification system based on signal processing techniques such as autoregressive modeling, the short-time Fourier transform, the Wigner-Ville distribution, and chaos analysis, by defining the region of normal, and various abnormalities such as neuropathy and myopathy. Using any one method, the probability density function of the features of the various patient groups often overlap and were difficult to classify based on the features of a single method. It was therefore necessary to develop a tool which would use all the quantitative features from each signal processing method and combine the human expertise to provide an expert decision to classify different pathologies. An attempt has been made to solve this problem using an artificial neural network. The results are discussed.<>

The consumer electronic bus symbol encoding sublayer: a twisted pair implementation 消费电子总线符号编码子层:双绞线实现

The consumer electronic bus (CEbus) is the communication standard for home automation systems. The implementation of the consumer electronic bus physical layer symbol encoding sublayer (PLSE) is presented. The PLSE performs several functions in the CEbus node. It is responsible for decoding and encoding CEbus symbols into the proper signal duration on the physical medium. It is also responsible for detecting and reporting medium failures to the layer system management and provides the medium access control (MAC) sublayer with a time base specific to each medium. The circuit can be realized using discrete components and can be easily implemented on a VLSI circuit. The circuit controller base clock may be scaled to adapt to the PLSE to various data signalling rates, while maintaining constant symbol encoding and decoding relative errors.<>

Recent research has shown that hybrid non-binary floating point bases, particularly decimal-based systems, can match or exceed the error performance of more traditional binary systems. The authors address a more general question of whether such bases offer any further advantages in the domain of rational number approximation. They consider the effect of the choice of floating point base on rational number approximation in systems which exhibit the typical characteristics of floating point representations, normalized encodings, limited exponent range, and storage allocated in a fixed number of bits per datum. The frequency with which terminating and representable results can be expected is considered for binary, decimal, and other potentially interesting bases (base 30 and base 210).<>
