West Sumatera is a disaster prone area, especially disasters such as earthquakes, landslides, floods, tsunamis, and volcanoes. The high potential of natural disasters has consequences for the importance ofdisaster mitigation efforts. School is an effective tool in shaping of mindset and behavior of students. Oneeffort that can be done is integrate the topic of natural disaster into learning, especially physics learning.Integrating physical matter in learning requires material analysis aimed at making disaster topics integratedin accordance with learning topic. The type of this research is descriptive research. The results of theresearch indicate that an analysis of the relevance of learning material to the topic of integrated disastersneeds to be done so that the integration between teaching material and the topic of disasters is carried out inharmony. Almost all physics learning material can be integrated with the topic of disasters that often hit theWest Sumatra region. The classification of material on the topic of integrated disasters is classified into factand metacognitive material.

This study aims to measure the practicality of physics constructivist modules in the dynamics of rotation andrigid body balance using ADDIE’s model. The module practicality stages are: preparation, researchintroduction, practicality testing, filling out questionnaires, analyzing and conclusions, revising, andpractical. There are 25 students and one physics teacher who asked using a questionnaire with 5 practicalindicators, namely: efficiency, presentation of module material, ease of use, conformity with science, andimplementation of constructive elements. The results of module practicality testing data analysis showed thatthe module efficiency level was 65.83 with the practical category, the module presentation rate was 90.16with a very practical category, the module's ease of use was 86.08 with a very practical category, the degreeof conformity with the science was 95,0 with a very practical category, and the level of implementation ofconstructive elements is 88.8 with a very practical category. Overall, the practicality of constructivist physicslearning modules is 85.17 with a very practical category. Based on the results, it can be concluded that theconstructivist physics learning module of rotational dynamics and rigid body balance is declared practical tobe used as a source of learning for high school physics students.

Physics of earth and space is one of the subject that learn about natural phenomena. Leraning activity thatlearn about nature require students to be able to think logically and critically about a phenomena. Therefore, learning models and learning tools are needed that support lecture activity that allow students to constructknowledge through experiments and gather various information. The fact found that the lectures of earth andspace physics that are used today are still conventional. This does not support the improvement of student’scritical thinking skill. One solution that can be done is to develop lecture devices consisting of worksheetsoriented to inquiry models and earth teaching aids which are implemented in lectures. The aim of thisresearch is to obtain the effectivity value of the devices of earth and space physics lecture to improve thecritical thinking skill of students. Data collection instrument is pretest and posttest before and after use theproduct. Data analysis technique use t-test correlates with product moment. The result of this research is theworksheet of earth and space physics oriented inquiry model is effective improve of student’s critical thinkingskill with the value of the product moment is 60%.

This research is a classroom action research that aims to improve student learning outcomes by usingintegrated multimedia learning physics for senior high school or equivalent. This research was conducted atthe senior high school (SMA)12 Pekanbaru. The subjects in this study were students of class X IPA 1 with 36students consisting of 16 male students and 20 female students. The study was conducted in two cycles andconsisted of 8 meetings with the details of the first cycle consisting of three meetings and three times quiz andone daily test (UH) and the second cycle consisted of four meetings consisting of three meetings and threetimes a and one dayly test. Each cycle is analyzed and feedback and repairs are needed. Based on the resultsof the study, it was found that there was an increase in individual completeness in the 1st cycle. 40.41% atquis-1, 51.65% at quis-2 and 90.81% at quis-3. Likewise, the second cycle. 80.25 in quiz-1, 85.75% in quis-2and 90.00% in quis-3. Based on these results it was found that the increase in individual completeness in the2nd cycle was higher and more stable. This shows that the results of individual completeness during learningboth cycle-1 and cycle-2 have increased, but the increase in cycle-2 is more linear. These results indicatethat learning using integrated multimedia can improve student physics learning outcomes.

Activated carbon from ketapang shell (Terminalia Catappa) has been successfully synthesized usingdehydration-carbonization method. Activated carbon was conducted by immersing with sulphuric acid andfollowed by carbonization at 600oC for 2 hours. Pore characteristics were determined using imageprocessingmethods of activated carbon micrographs based on parameters of area and caliper length. Fromthe area approximation method obtained that the maximum pore size estimate was 5,69 μm at activatorconcentration 3% while the minimum was 4,88 μm at activator concentration 11% activator concentrationrespectively. At the other hands, caliper length approximation method obtained estimation of maximum poresize that was equal to 9,09 μm at activator concentration 3% and its minimum that was equal to 7,35 μm atactivator concentration 7%. The porosity of the activated carbon from ketapang shell increased with theincrease of sulfuric acid concentration and the highest value reached 24.96%.

This study aims to determine the improvement of conceptual understanding of physics of class VIII studentsof SMP Negeri 40 Pekanbaru on the topic of light and optical through learning with cognitive conflict approaches. The type of this research is quasi experiment with population of 172 students of class VIII SMP Negeri 40 Pekanbaru consisted of 4 classes. Two classes were selected to be a research sample based on normality and homogeneity tests on repetition of sound material to obtain experimental and control classes, each of 43 people. The data collected by giving the physics’ conceptual understanding test in Bloom's taxonomy in the form of two tier multiple choice with 14 items. This instrument consists of 7 indicators ofconceptual understanding, namely: interpretation, modeling, classifying, summarizing, drawing inference, comparing, and explaining. The result of the research showed that the ability of studens’ concept understanding after the application of learning with cognitive conflict approach was in the good category. The average score of the students’ understanding of the physics concept on the experimental group was higer than the average score of the control group. it can be concluded that learning with cognitive conflict approach can improve conceptual understanding of physics of class VIII SMP Negeri 40 Pekanbaru student on the topic of light and optics.

The learning process of physics at school, the topics is sometime less relatedto the existing dailylifephenomenon. This condition causes low improvement of students' cognitive learning result. In this case, it was a necessary to apply a learning model to improve student learning result by applying phenomenon based learning model (PhenoBL). Quasi experiment in the form of nonequivalent control group design as the model of the research. The instrument to collect data used test of student cognitive at pretest and posttest, respectively. The Data was analyzed by descriptive and inferential analysis. The results of descriptive analysis show the average absorption rate of experiment class is 71.05% and control class is 63.33% which both classes are in a good category. In the paired sample t-test results stated an increasing of students cognitive learning outcomes from pretest to posttest. This can also be seen from the inferential analysis in that means there was a significant differences between experimental class and kontrol class. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of PhenoBL model can improve student learning outcomes of class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 5 Pekanbaru on optical material.
