Not a Fall of Woman, but a Fanal for Education for Freedom in the Bible’s Creation StoryThe article aims at a re-evaluation of the so-called Fall of Man narrative in Genesis 2:4–3:24, which since the early church interpretation has been linked to the loss of the image of God, which man had lost because he had partaken of the tree of knowledge in a forbidden way, whereby the woman is assigned a special guilt because she had seduced the man. This, however, was in no way the intention of the authors of this story in the 4th century BCE. Rather, the story is in dialogue with late-wisdom texts that, on the one hand, deny man the knowledge of good and evil, such as Qohelet and Job 28, or consider this knowledge to be a creative endowment of man, so Ben Sira. According to Gen 2–3, God has granted man the freedom of choice, which man can and does fail at, which is to be countered in the book of Deuteronomy by a complex theory of education.

General Education and the Problematization of Pedagogical Knowledge – in Times of AI The paper takes the recent debate on ChatGPT in higher education as point of departure for demonstrating the relevance of General Education. Its significance lies in the task to scrutinize and reflect the conditions, epistemic frameworks, and consequences of pedagogical knowledge (1). It is shown how this is realized in recent forms of educational-theoretical research as ›problematization‹ (2). This problematization is currently neglected in the debate on AI in higher education (3).

Freedom without Heteronomy? Autonomy from the very Beginning? The Discomfort with Upbringing in Discourses on Education, Participation, and Children’s Rights On the basis of educational theories on the relationship between autonomy and heteronomy as well as on the legitimacy of guardianship, discourses are problematized in which a strong discomfort with upbringing is expressed. The attempt is made to show that by avoiding the concept of upbringing, the general rejection of generational power structures, and the central idea of the autonomous child, fundamental pedagogical problems are lost sight of.

Education and the Inevitability of the Right to Look The essay discusses the right to look as an outstanding perspective. In Education, the right to look – this can be demonstrated with the Bildungsroman – is driven by the premises of an ongoing critical reflection of what counts as Bildung, and of what justifies the methods leading to conclusions about this question, and it supports them.

The Inevitability of General Educational Science as a Task. On the Reflective Foundation of the Discipline of Educational Science The article justifies the inevitability of general educational science. However, this is no longer a given, because a quarter of all educational science courses do not require general educational science or the teaching of basic principles. General educational science provides basic, orientation and reflective knowledge. General educational science is unavoidable for a reflective educational science.
