The article presents an exhaustive comparative analysis of NDVI, SAVI and NDWI spectral indices, extracted from satellite images of the Guangüiltagua Metropolitan Park in Quito. The relevance of remote sensing, using satellites such as Sentinel-2, in the monitoring of biodiversity and environmental conditions is highlighted. The research emphasizes the importance of vegetation indices, especially NDVI, to assess vegetation health and detect changes in vegetation cover. The study discusses in detail vegetation sensitivity, water identification, water stress response, soil effect compensation, and specific applications of NDVI, SAVI, and NDWI. The ability of these indices to provide crucial information on ecosystem health, water presence, and potential water stress conditions in Metropolitan Park is highlighted. The methodology applied involves the use of the Copernicus platform and the Sentinel-2 satellite, with radiometric and geometric correction procedures, as well as atmospheric correction. The results obtained reveal high NDVI values, indicating a dense vegetation cover, while NDWI suggests potential areas of water scarcity. The comparative analysis between the indices offers a deeper understanding of the relationship between vegetation and water in the park.

The general objective of this research was to analyze the preferences towards Artificial Intelligence (AI) in university professors in Ecuador, particularly those who teach the subject of Microeconomics. The methodology used was quantitative, descriptive, field-typed, and non-experimental, based on documentary research. The population consisted of 25 teachers from three state universities in the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador. The data collection technique was the survey and the instrument was a questionnaire of closed questions, which was applied through the Google Forms platform. The results found indicate that a large majority know about the use of AI in higher education; they also consider that the benefits that AI brings to education are to improve teaching, a large percentage indicated not to use AIs to teach Microeconomics, a small number of teachers who use AI, do it for data analysis through Machine Learning, the fact of the little use of this technology among teachers is mainly due to the absence of university policies on the use of artificial intelligence. Among the conclusions, the formulation of educational policies oriented to the implementation of artificial intelligence in Ecuadorian universities, the adaptation of infrastructure, and the investment of resources for this purpose are considered essential, as well as the training of teaching staff to take full advantage of this technology that is already a reality in many national and international contexts.

The purpose of this article is to evaluate the financial relevance of the economic sector in the profitability of credit unions. Information from the financial statements of 105 credit unions out of a total of 451 credit unions registered as of 2022 in Ecuador was used. The methodology used involved descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. Normality tests and the Kruskal-Wallis hypothesis test were performed to determine statistical significance in relation to profitability. The results of the descriptive analysis indicated that the financial indicators, such as liquidity, portfolio turnover, indebtedness, and profitability, were favorable for the cooperatives. In the inferential analysis, the profitability indicators complied with the assumptions of normality. In addition, it was found that there were no significant differences between these indicators in relation to the economic sectors. In conclusion, the inferential analysis revealed that financial profitability, which is linked to the investments made, is similar among credit unions, regardless of the economic sector to which they belong.

In wireless communications, there are Rician and Rayleigh multipath phenomena, which can cause destructive interference caused by a strong dominant component. The objective of the study is to analyze how these multipath phenomena affect the Bit Error Rate (BER), using phase shift keying (QPSK), as well as 5G Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) technology to reduce or not the effect of fading to improve the BER. For the present study, the quantitative method is used to measure BER by comparative simulations of Rician and Rayleigh phenomena using different MIMO antenna configuration schemes using Matlab software. When comparing the multipath Rician and Rayleigh phenomena with QPSK modulation, it was determined that the most efficient channel is the Rician channel, since the BER is lower, performing a 4x4 MIMO antenna configuration. However, this efficiency may change if another type of modulation is used, which implies reducing the bit rate causing a reduction in bandwidth.

Abstract Human persons are at once simple and complex: simple, because they possess a unified and indivisible essence in the form of the soul; and, complex, since this immaterial soul is conjoined to a material body, accounting for the human whole. This paper highlights the nature of this union and explores the psychology of the human person based on Thomistic philosophical tradition. Our thesis is that Aquinas’s hylomorphism, which counters in advance the claims of Descartes on human identity, offers a comprehensive understanding of the human person and provides a robust foundation that understands the human person as transcending the limitations of body and mind, and this has implications for philosophical, psychological and scientific enquiries.

The purpose of the research was to analyze the Robotic Automation of Processes as a technological tool aimed at automating auditing processes. It is a technological alternative that uses robots called bots, which are configured in a simple way and enable a digital transformation in which they can learn and imitate tasks, which are then executed automatically. Regarding the study methodology, it was a documentary research, carried out through a review of documents, scientific articles, research, web pages, among other sources. Among the main audit activities that can be performed with the application of robotic automation of processes are identified reconciliations, queries to identify the accounts to be reconciled, trial balances, list of transactions, comparison of the lists with the consolidated reports. Similarly, analytical processes can be performed, such as starting the session with working papers of previous audits, queries to identify audited amounts; internal control processes such as population tests, purchase orders, documents and invoices, verification of prices against quantity of items, generating alerts when deviations occur. Finally, there are several advantages of this technology, such as the possibility of performing advanced data analysis, considerable reduction of audit costs, due to the reduction of human errors and therefore greater productivity, since the optimization of processes allows the staff assigned to the execution of the audit to focus their efforts on more strategic activities, such as the preparation of the final audit report.
