High intensity laser beam wavefront diagnostics and correction at the Advanced Laser Light Source facility 先进激光光源设备的高强度激光束波前诊断和校正

The Advanced Laser Light Source (ALLS) is a Canadian facility consisting of several high intensity laser systems based on Ti:Sapphire technology. These lasers deliver 25–35 fs laser pulse time duration, from 1 mJ up to 5 J energy per pulse, high repetition rate from 10 Hz to 5 kHz, and up to 200 TW of instantaneous power or 50 W of average power. The aim of this facility is, first to produce laser based radiation source ranging from THz up to the hard x-ray and acceleration of high energy particles; second to develop and optimize such laser based sources and study their potential applications in field such as biomedical imaging, time resolved x-ray spectroscopy or molecular imaging. We will present the laser beams wavefront diagnostics and the correction methods by means of deformable mirrors used at ALLS.

We investigate magneto-optic Kerr effect at light reflection from a nonlinear optical dielectric film on a bigyrotropic magneto-electric slab. We analyzed the optical nonlinearity and the magneto-electric coupling contributions to the Kerr rotation angles for both s- and p-polarized light at the incidence angles close to pseudo-Brewster angles.

Principles of constructing the holographic wavefront sensors are considered. Method of production of the two-channel holographic lenslet arrays with compensation of specified aberrations and its parameters are presented. The possibility of adaptation of the holographic sensor for measuring the wave fronts with different curvature is shown.

Simulation of lasing modes in a kite-shaped microcavity laser 风筝形微腔激光器激光模式的仿真

We consider the lasing modes in a thin kite-shaped active microcavity as solutions to the 2-D linear eigenproblem for the Maxwell equations with exact boundary and radiation conditions. This problem is reduced to the set of Muller's integral equations with smooth and integrable kernels discretized using the adequate quadrature formulas. The eigenvalues are found numerically as the roots of the corresponding determinantal equation. The results of the study of several modes are presented.

A universal mechanism of metal additive atoms influence on copper vapor laser parameters is proposed to interpret the peculiarities, observed at injection of cesium, silver and zinc atoms into the discharge volume. The effect of thermal instability, caused by the additives influence on the plasma processes is discussed.

Diffraction feature and applications of holographic Bragg gratings 全息Bragg光栅的衍射特性及其应用

Bragg character of a light diffraction on volume phase holographic gratings is considered as the basic of their applications in a number of classical and new optical instruments. Owing to high angular/spectral selectivity of the Bragg grating monochromators can be realised without application of input/output slits. Strengthening of an spectral dispersion due to the 3D-diffraction provides a single-mode oscillation in dye lasers even with nanosecond pumping. The polychromator with a such grating is attained in divergent “white” light beam in a plane of a grating dispersion. Two diffracted beams controlled power on a grating exit in a combination with the simple lens optics for beam crossing implement a 2-beam interferometer with controlled spatial resolution. Calibrated on a spatial frequency the grating on a goniometric knot forms the high-precision wavelengthmeter. High angular selectivity of such grating allows to implement optical vibration sensor with sensitivity comparable with that at modern seismographer.

The review report deals with the experimental and theoretical studies of new phenomena registered (the nontraditional temperature shift Eg(T), the change of exciton-phonon interaction and the giant thermodynamical optical effect).The results are discussed on the basis of exciton-phonon interaction and the ferroelastic phase transition. The optical active devices are proposed.

Effect of laser beam shape on differential-phase measurements 激光束形状对差相位测量的影响

Accuracy of differential-phase measurements depends on actual shape of laser beams formed by focusing optics. In present work two factors affecting beam profile are considered: aperture limiting and asymmetrical intensity irregularities. Ripples in measured signal are found to be caused by beam sidelobes. Asymmetry of beams leads to direction-dependent measurements.

Linear and nonlinear models of dielectric media and electromagnetic field interaction based on the polariton approach are considered. It is shown that polaritons get the mass which quantity depends on the efficiency of electromagnetic field and medium interaction. The mass of polariton can be controlled by the external electric field.
