Category of the defined (intended) recipient on the example of the exposés of Polish Prime Ministers in the years 1919–2020 Summary In this article I examine the evolution of the etiquette phrases used in the exposés of Polish Prime Ministers in the years 1919–2020. On the basis of the texts given I reconstruct the repertoire of the forms of address used in the exposé and their dependence on the historical and social realities. At the same time, I am trying to discuss which factors impacted the developmental tendencies in the Sejm of the Republic of Poland in the last century.

The application of theoretical contrastive analysis using an interlanguage in Polish studies Summary The article presents the methodology of theoretical contrastive analysis using an interlanguage. A parallel contrastive description is facilitated by a semantic interlanguage, which is created prior to work on the linguistic material. The article, based on the example of selected semantic meanings (units) in the category of definiteness / indefiniteness, proves the added value in Polish, which arises simultaneously from the application of theoretical contrastive analysis using an interlanguage and the exploration of the resources of the Polish-Lithuanian Parallel Corpus. The authors perform a projection of clear characteristics of Lithuanian onto Polish, thereby enriching and more precisely defining the description of exponents of the definiteness/indefiniteness semantic category in the Polish language.

The language of witnesses to history. A report from Masuria Summary The work presents the linguistic and stylistic properties of two autobiographical narratives recorded in 1950 in Masuria during dialectological research conducted there. The circumstances of the interview and the person of the narrator allowed to consider these accounts as an important testimony given by witnesses of history. It is a family testimony, local, selective, subjective, emotional and marked by valuing.

Metaphorisation of verbal aggression in the language of Internet comments Summary The aim of this article is to define a conceptual domains included in metaphors which express verbal aggression in Internet comments. The presentation of all domains leads to the conclusion that there is one, superior cognitive domain that defines the others and explains the origins of aggression in the language of Internet comments.

Mythology-based phraseological expressions in the latest linguistic approaches Summary The present study represents an overview and a synthesis of the latest linguistic findings regarding phraseology with provenance in (Greco-Roman) mythology. The text refers to the most recent works, mostly published after 2000, which explore – solely or largely – mythology-based phraseological expressions. The issue of defining this term is discussed, its content and the breadth of its meaning are delineated, various classification and description criteria for such expressions are pointed out. The research standpoints put forward in the studies discussed may be described as having a comparative, etymological, statistical-theoretical, didactic, discursive-material or lexicographic inclination. By virtue of the subject matter along with its cultural and identity-related importance, the common denominator of the viewpoints presented is the domain of cultural linguistics.

The Language of Priests: A Pilot Study Summary The article presents and briefly discusses the results from a survey conducted with 28 Roman Catholic priests and clerics who were asked about the vocabulary used in everyday communication. About 370 slang word and phrases where collected in this way. Based on the answers provided, it can be assumed that language used by priests in private situations is characterized by expression, humor and creativity.

Lexis on rural farm in the first novels of Wiesław Myśliwski Summary The lexis associated with the countryside, and thus the farm, is a permanent element of Wiesław Myśliwski’s novel. This s especially visible in the first three writer’s works: Nagi sad, Pałac and Kamień na kamieniu – they assigned the author to the peasant trend of Polish literature. Vocabulary from the subject field kitchen and kitchen utensils in the Polish dialect in the Lviv region Summary The aim of article is to show the dynamics of changes in the functioning of borrowings from Ukrainian (and Russian) language. The collected and evoked lexis concerns the thematic field related to the names of kitchen in the Polish dialect of the village of Czyszki. The lexeme borrowed will be ilustrated with contexts and information about the informant’s generational affiliation. The generational order will allow to illustrate the lifetime of specific names in particular generational compartments. This method will also make it possible to observe the groups of vocabulary coming out of use as well as those that are being actively used by all informants all the time.

Names of Polish rock bands in the form of nominal groups. Syntactic and semantic analysis Summary This article reflects on the names of Polish rock bands active in the 80s and 90s of the last century which have the form of nominal simple (two-element) and extended structures. Onomastic, semantic and linguistic-cultural analyses are supplemented by syntactic characteristics of names representing various models of attribute groups. The overall studies, including grammatical description together with semantic analysis, give a full linguistic picture of units that name music groups.
