espanolObjetivos. EnglishAims. The goal of the current study was to determine the prevalence of Plasmodium in the population of Phoenicopterus ruber kept under human care at Zoofari Conservation Center, Morelos, Mexico Settings and Design. Avian malaria vectors belonging to the family Culicidae has been reported at different Mexican States. Malaria infections compromise different host ranges including Phoenicopteriformes (Phoeniconaias minor, Phoenicopterus chilensis). The singled population housed in Zoofari, Conservation Center may harbor subclinical malaria (Plasmodium) infections. Methods and Material. A descriptive cross- sectional study in a singled population of American flamingos (Phoenicopterus ruber). We compared and contrasted two diagnostic techniques, microscopy and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for avian haemosporidia. In this study 80 blood smears stained in a Romanowsky stain were examined by microscopy, also molecular analysis were conducted, PCR was performed with the use of primers that amplifies parasite mtDNA from species of Haemopr

Community health is an ambiguous concept that implies the use of various practices and approaches for intervention in the health-disease-care process in a specific community. Identifying the pillars, approaches and tools to be used at each level of community health care, as well as the principles for their integration into primary care will allow the change agents involved to understand and use this information to improve their work. Otherwise, the strengthening of community health actions in health action plans and programs will be hindered, generating no positive results in the well-being of the population.

espanolIntroduccion. Conclusion. To assess the knowledge, risk factors and prevention of prostate cancer. Methodology. We conducted a cross-sectional descriptive study, a semi-structured survey and anonymous nature of the Quartermaster staff of the Institute of Health Sciences. Results. 50 surveys were applied, the most frequent age range was 40 to 50 years, the primary level of schooling was secondary. The 25% of the population said to have an average knowledge about prostate cancer and the 50% of the population said they did not go back to studies can be carried out for fear of the urologist. Conclusion. There is a lack of information about prostate cancer, so it is necessary to provide health education to the male population and encourage the testing of prostate cancer to achieve an early diagnosis. Otherwise a late result implies a negative health condition.

espanolIntroduccion. Conclusion. EnglishIntroduction. It has been determined that patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection and severe pneumonia with elevated D-dimer values can develop acute pulmonary thromboembolism (APE) as a complication, being one of the causes related to mortality in this group of patients. Methods. A retrospective analysis of 12 patients diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection with high clinical suspicion of APE confirmed by computed tomography pulmonary angiopgraphy (CTPA) was performed and the described findings are described. Results. 12 patients with diagnosis of severe pneumonia, elevated D-dimer 9.2 μg / ml (1.4 - ˃20 μg / mL) and confirmation of SARS-CoV-2 infection through real-time reverse transcription polymerasa chain reaction (RT- PCR). APEs were observed mainly in segmental arteries (75%) and main arteries (25%). Pneumonia with patched areas of bilateral ground glass opacities was observed in 100% of the sample as a typical finding of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Conclusion. SARS-CoV-2 infection is related to elevation of D-dimer and APE. The CTPA determines the diagnosis, severity and timely management (anticoagulation) of patients with APE. Therefore CTPA should be considered in all patients with elevated D-dimer or clinical worsening.
