Personalization of Learning Objects for a course on Database Management System 数据库管理系统课程学习对象的个性化

This paper attempts to discuss how Learning Objects (LO) can be personalized based on Felder-Silverman Learning Style Model (FSLSM). The preferences for a group of 53 undergraduate students, on the four dimensions of FSLSM were collected using the “Index of Learning Styles (ILS)”. A LO for the course on “Database Management System” was developed on the inferences drawn from the ILS using the authoring tool ‘eXe’. A group of students validated the personalized LO. We have reported the analysis of feedback, with inferences drawn for personalization of the LO

Virtual lecture and laboratory outsourcing techniques in engineering courses 工程课程中的虚拟讲座和实验室外包技术

This paper provides means of improvement on the existing e-learning techniques adopted by NPTEL (National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning) and CDEEP (Centre for Distance Engineering Education Program). Here, a two way model with the name, “Virtual Lecture and Lab Outsourcing Technique” is proposed. The model uses live webcasting and instant messaging as the chief technologies to provide education for all. Research work and survey is done after proposing this model in front of the students and their opinions compared using acceptance rate as an index.

Analyzing different aspects of social network usages on students behaviors and academic performance 分析不同方面的社交网络使用对学生行为和学习成绩的影响

The role of social networks has become increasingly relevant in recent years. This research focuses on analyzing the affect of social networks (SN) websites usage on students' behaviors and academic performances. This investigation included students gender based usage patterns of social networks websites with respect to our proposed websites scheme. We classified all students with similarity of social networks usage patterns for predicting their future behaviors, in addition we analyzed affect of SN usage on each groups of users academic performance based on their undertaken programs, semester and usage pattern including total time spent in SN websites during a day and the types of SN websites that visited by them, or identifying any changes in usage patterns of users during different days including final examination days or holidays if existed.

Information Technology is becoming fundamental to the operation of business and government. Growth in jobs related to IT is expected to outpace traditional industries. In a globalizing economy, Computer and Information Technology are being perceived as a new engine of economic and industrial growth. Cities and Metros are growing at an unprecedented pace with the use of IT. India is a country of villages where the development has not reached till date. Rural development implies both the economic betterment of people as well as greater social transformation. This paper presents a live case study of our own university which has been involved in teaching IT to villagers for betterment of their lives.
