Politeness strategy is used in conversations to save addressee’s face by performing an expression that is less threatening for the addressee’s face. The aims of this research are to analyze politeness strategies used by two major characters of the seventh singularity story of Fate/Grand Order social game, and also to analyze the factors that influencing their choicess of politeness strategies. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method. The description of the data is in the form of utterances and examined based on Brown and Levinson theories of politeness strategy. Based on the obtained result, it can be concluded that the two major characters, Mash Kyrielight and Enkidu/Kingu applied four kinds of politeness strategy (bald on record, positive politeness, negative politeness and off record). Both characters mainly used positive politeness strategy, while the least used strategy is bald on-record. Their choice of politeness strategies mostly influenced by social distance factor, imposition and also the power factor.

Abstract People use language to communicate. While communicating, people have their own ways to deliver their ideas. The language they used is constructed differently based on their own purposes. This research was conducted to study this phenomenon. It aimed at analyzing the speech function used by SEA Today News’ speakers to present the Indonesian perspective to the world. The data were collected from SEA Today News YouTube videos and were analyzed using a qualitative method. The analysis was formulated systematically to answer these two research questions: 1) What speech function categories are found in the Sea Today News video? and 2) What are the purposes of using those speech functions found? The results show that the four speakers in the SEA Today News video used all the speech functions related to their purposes. The most used speech function is ‘statement’ that revealed that the main purpose of the speakers in the SEA Today News video was to 'share information about the topic they discussed, Batik. Furthermore, it was also found that the four speakers in the SEA Today News video respond to each other’s utterances positively with no misunderstanding at all. It indicates the good communication that happens between the speakers.

English proficiency is one of the places for developing human resource evaluations that must be managed interactively and professionally. Learning and modules are two things that complement each other. Learning will take place effectively equipped with learning media. Therefore, it is very necessary to produce a product of teaching materials in the form of modules that are not only intellectual but also can create students to be more creative and innovative. The development of learning modules used ADDIE development. ADDIE has a five-stage model development among others : Analyze (Analyze), Design (Design), Develop (Develop), Implement (Apply), and Evaluate (Evaluate). The assessment of learning modules for material experts was divided into 4 aspects. The results of the assessment of each aspect showed the different average score. In the Feasibility of contents, the average score was 3.7, it means it was "Feasible" .Linguistic component aspect had score of 3.4, it was in "Feasible" category. The aspect of the assessment component obtained an average score of 3.1 that means it was in "Feasible" category. Meanwhile, in graphic component aspect, it was obtained 3.6 which that it was in "Feasible" category. Reading becomes greatly important issue since it is considered as the most frequent input to develop second language acquisition. In reality, learning strategies used in the classroom activity often left a gap between the high proficiency students and the lower one. Hence, peer-assisted learning strategy (PALS) comes to provide a way out towards the gap. The role of peer-assisted learning strategy is assumed to be one of effective learning strategies since it gives them a more chance to interact and cooperate closely while diminish the gap itself in reading skills. Therefore, this research aimed to know the role of PALS in order to help the students enhancing reading skills focusing on the fluency, pronunciation, and word recognition in comprehending the texts while eliciting social interaction between them. This belongs to a case study research. The data were collected through interviews with various grades of students in senior high school. In the end, the research provided the descriptions about the students’ opinion towards the role of PALS in enhancing their reading skills.

This research aimed to promote the reading achievement of the first STIK Bina Husada Palembang midwifery students using the Hamburger strategy. A quasi-experimental method was used, with a non-equivalent group design for the pretest and posttest. The samples consisted of 38 students from STIK Bina Husada Palembang's first-semester midwifery students. A written test with multiple-choice questions was utilized to collect data. The test was found to be both valid and reliable. The value of t-obtained (5.57) was greater than t-table (2.02) at the significant level of p0.05, according to the results of the independent t-test. It was deduced that the Hamburger strategy could promote students reading achievement. It meant that the Hamburger strategy could help students improve their reading skills, particularly in recounting text. The Hamburger strategy helped students to stimulate their memory to learn, retain a text, and store information from the text in their long-term memory so that they could remember the information and comprehend the text properly.

Covid19 pandemic has changed the education system. Almost all educational institutions reduced face to face learning and applied online learning. The Indonesian government supports this system by providing internet credit subsidies to students and teachers. It triggers students to often use gadgets such as learning, playing online games, or browsing internet sites. One of the impacts of this pandemic period is the process of English Language Acquisition in children. The purpose of this study was to determine the process of acquiring English vocabulary and kinds of English vocabulary in children aged around 9-11 years. The researchers applied descriptive qualitative study by involving three participants aged 9,10,11 year old. To get more valid data, researchers observed participant activities, especially how their English vocabulary was obtained and the English vocabulary was what they produced. In addition to deepening data, researchers also conducted semi-structural interviews to participants. Interviews were also carried out to determine the extent to which they understood the English vocabulary they produced. The results showed that there were several ways children to obtain English vocabulary during Covid 19 pandemic, imitating someone's words, hearing or reading from online games, listening to music, watching television, and reading vocabulary on food wrap. The types of English vocabulary they get are nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. It can be concluded that children acquired English vocabularies during the Covid 19 pandemic which is one of the consequences of the use of gadgets that must be for learning activities. However, there are some English vocabularies that are still taboo for them. The results of this study are expected to increase parents' awareness in overseeing the use of gadgets for children because not all English vocabulary they get is in accordance with Indonesian culture.
