THE CORRELATION BETWEEN STUDENTS� SELF-EFFICACY AND ENGLISH SPEAKING SKILLS AT EIGHT GRADE OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL 09 BENGKULU TENGAH 初中八年级学生自我效能感与英语口语能力的相关研究[j]

The aims of this research are to know the correlation between students� self-efficacy and their speaking skill at first semester at eight grade junior high school 09 Bengkulu Tengah. In this research used a correlation research to find out the relationships between two or more variables studied without any attempt to influence them. This study has two variables, variable (X) is students Self-Efficacy and variable (Y) is speaking skill. The researcher was carried out at SMPN 09 Bengkulu Tengah. The population was first semester at eight grade of junior high school 09 Bengkulu Tengah, there were 128 students. Out of this population, 30 students were taken as sample. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling. The researcher used questionnaire to obtain the data of Self-Efficacy categories and speaking test to obtain data their speaking skill. To test correlation, the researcher uses two ways: calculating manually by using Pearson�s Correlation Prosuct Moment formula and by using SPSS program. From the calculation, the correlation coefficient is 0,864 (the value of rcount). The critical values of rtable on the significant level of 5% with N=30, and rtable = 0,361. It means that rcount was higher than rtable (0,864 > 0,361). The hypothesis accepted in this research was the alternative (H1), while the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. The finding showed that there is a positive correlation between Students Self-efficacy and speaking skill.
本研究的目的是了解班古鲁登加初中八年级第一学期学生自我效能感与口语技巧的相关关系。在本研究中,使用相关性研究来找出两个或多个变量之间的关系,而不试图影响它们。本研究有两个变量,变量(X)为学生自我效能感,变量(Y)为口语能力。这项研究是在SMPN 09 Bengkulu Tengah进行的。人口是09班古鲁登加初中八年级第一学期,有128名学生。从这个总体中抽取30名学生作为样本。使用的抽样技术是简单的随机抽样。研究者通过问卷调查获得自我效能感类别的数据,通过口语测试获得口语技能的数据。为了检验相关性,研究者使用了两种方法:通过使用Pearson的相关积矩公式和使用SPSS程序手动计算。通过计算,相关系数为0.864(即rcount的值)。当N=30时,rtable在5%显著水平上的临界值,rtable = 0.361。说明rcount大于rtable(0,864 > 0,361)。本研究接受的假设是备选假设(H1),拒绝零假设(H0)。研究结果表明,学生自我效能感与口语技能之间存在正相关关系。

An Analysis of Students’ Ability in Applying Modulation Technique in Translating Collocation “The Lost Symbol” Novel by Dan Brown 学生在丹·布朗小说《失落的符号》搭配翻译中运用调制技巧的能力分析

The objective of this research was to analyze how students’ ability in applying modulation techniques in translating collocation from the novel “The Lost Symbol” by Dan Brown. The research was a content analysis of descriptive qualitative. There were 25 students taken as respondent, there were represented from each class. The data were collected by using a translation test which was contained six types of collocation. The finding showed that students’ability is dominant in collocation type of adjective and noun because to translate it just simple and the phrase of the word is most familiar in their activities not also in translation subject but other skill language material. In the other hand, the students’ low ability to translate collocation of Verb and expression with a preposition because they could not just use the literal translation but they have to adapt it or changing their point of view and use their cognitive and focus on the context, which makes relevant and coherent. However, overall the average of students ability must be improved it with learning more and lecturer must be able to focus on students’ weakness in applying translation technique, especially on modulation to get the progress by the students’ translation well.
本研究的目的是分析学生在翻译丹·布朗的小说《失落的符号》中的搭配时如何运用调制技巧。本研究为描述性质的内容分析。共有25名学生作为调查对象,每个班级都有代表。采用包含六种搭配类型的翻译测试来收集数据。结果表明,在形容词和名词的搭配类型中,学生的翻译能力占主导地位,因为他们在翻译活动中对形容词和名词的搭配类型比较简单,而且对该词的短语最为熟悉,不仅在翻译科目中如此,在其他技能语言材料中也是如此。另一方面,学生对动词和短语与介词搭配的翻译能力较低,因为他们不能直接直译,而是要适应或改变自己的观点,运用自己的认知和关注语境,使之相关和连贯。但是,学生的总体水平必须随着学习的增加而提高,教师必须能够关注学生在翻译技巧运用上的不足,特别是在翻译技巧的调整上,才能通过学生的翻译来取得进步。

Creative and Innovative Ways of Teaching English In Rural Area Through ICT 利用信息通信技术创新农村英语教学

Nowadays, information and communication technology has been growing rapidly. It is used widely in all sectors in the world. In education, ICT has the important role to faster the development of knowledge. But, we should realize that there are still many regions in Indonesia which the application of ICT is not available yet. This paper examines the ways of English teachers used in teaching and learning English in term of ICT implementation especially in two rural areas of Indonesia. This paper also argues some creative and innovative ways that can be practiced in each of those areas. This paper through qualitative approach finds out that the applying of ICT or technology in teaching and learning English cannot be the same for all regions including urban, rural, and remote areas. It can be practiced differently based on the condition of the area. So, the teacher should know the creative and innovative ways of ICT implementation in teaching and learning English.
如今,信息通信技术发展迅速。它被广泛应用于世界各个部门。在教育方面,信息通信技术对加快知识的发展具有重要作用。但是,我们应该意识到,在印度尼西亚仍有许多地区尚未实现ICT的应用。本文从ICT实施的角度考察了英语教师在英语教学中的使用方式,特别是在印度尼西亚的两个农村地区。本文还提出了一些创造性和创新性的方法,可以在这些领域进行实践。本文通过定性分析发现,ICT或技术在英语教学中的应用不可能在城市、农村和偏远地区都是一样的。它可以根据该地区的条件进行不同的练习。因此,教师应该知道在英语教学和学习中如何创造性地、创新性地运用信息通信技术。

FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE IN WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE AND WILLIAM WORDWORTH’S POEM 威廉·莎士比亚和威廉·华兹华斯诗歌中的比喻语言

This study aims to determine the use and meaning of figurative language (majas) in poetry. The sample of this study is ten poems from two different writers of the era, namely Shakespeare and Wordsworth. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method and an objective approach used to analyze data. Figurative language (majas) was analyzed based on theories from Wren and Martin and also analyzed the meaning of each figurative language (majas) that had been discovered. The figurative language (majas) found is presented in tabular form. From the data analysis, all figurative languages ??(majas) were found in Shakespeare's five poems except Euphemism and Irony. In Wordsworth's poem, all figurative languages ??(majas) are found except Synecdoche and Irony. From the figurative language (majas) that has been found and from the author's background, it has been concluded that Shakespeare is a Poetic person, he usually uses some beautiful words. Meanwhile, Wordsworth is a Romantic person. He usually talks about love, feelings and even sadness which is always associated with the loss of someone he loves.

CHARACTER VALUES FOUND IN ENGLISH TEXTBOOKS OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL 高中英语教材中的人格价值

The objective of this research is to find out character values found in English textbook for grade ten and for grade eleven of Senior High School. The research was descriptive qualitative research which dealt with non-numerical data and focused on the character values found in English textbook of senior high school. The result of this research presented the character values found in English textbook for grade ten and for grade eleven of Senior High School. They are religiousness, honesty, tolerance, discipline, perseverance, creativity, independence, democracy, curiosity, nationalism, patriotism, appreciation, friendliness /communication, peacefulness, literacy, affection to nature, sociable, and responsible. From those 18 characters, appreciation character is the most dominant with the percentage of 12.5 %. Meanwhile, tolerance, discipline, independence, democracy, and literacy characters stand in the lowest position with only 2.5 %.
本研究的目的是找出高中十年级和十一年级英语教材中存在的性格价值。本研究采用非数值数据的描述性定性研究,以高中英语教材中的人物价值观为研究对象。本研究的结果显示了高中十年级和十一年级英语教材中所发现的品格价值。它们是虔诚、诚实、宽容、纪律、毅力、创造力、独立、民主、好奇心、民族主义、爱国主义、欣赏、友好/沟通、和平、识字、热爱自然、善于交际和负责任。在这18个汉字中,欣赏字占主导地位,占12.5%。而宽容、自律、独立、民主、有文化的性格则排在最后,只有2.5%。

Process-Genre Approach for Teaching Writing of English Text 英语篇章写作教学的过程-体裁教学法

Although writing has been learned by students since they start to learn English language but it still become the most difficult skill to be acquired than speaking, reading and listening. It is possibility caused by the students have limitation of knowledge about writing roles, lack of vocabulary, lack of motivation, lack of master of language structure, and lack of ability in generating a topic. In addition, writing is also called as the most complexity skill and it can be seen from the process of writing, rules that must be followed by students, and the influence of non-linguistics factors during of writing activity. Therefore, students must be serious to acquire this skill. In this article, the writer would like to introduce a suitable approach to teaching writing of English texts through process-genre approach. After reading this article, the writer expects that this article can help English teachers to apply this approach for teaching writing of English texts at Junior and Senior High Schools in Indonesia.

IMPROVING WRITING SKILL OF RECOUNT TEXT THROUGH GIVING CHAIN AND QUESTIONS TECHNIQUES IN SMAN 3 TEBING TINGGI 通过《三联编》中的提问技巧和提问技巧提高叙事性课文的写作技巧

This classroom action research aims to improve students' skills in writing recounts using chain drawing techniques and several questions.The subjects of this study were students X IIS.1 SMA 3 TEBING TINGGI 2017/2018 lessons, amounting to 22 people consisting of 11 men and 11 women.In collecting data, recount writing and observation or observation tests are conducted.All data are collected and analyzed. In analyzing the results of the tests using a system scale the rating criteria are referent values. The results that the researchers obtained from this study were qualitative data and quantitative data.Qualitative data shows that students are very active and fluent in writing recounts, this can be seen by the increase in student activity in doing their own writing recount activities in the first cycle and second cycle, and students smoothly answer questions based on the images set out in recount essays.Whereas from quantitative data, it can be seen that there is an increase in the value of students from the level or level of information written on their recount.The number of students who get A in the first cycle is 1 meeting (1 person), 2nd meeting (2 people), and 3rd meeting (4 people). On the second cycle of the 1st meeting (9 people), 2nd meeting (17 people) and 3rd meeting (22 people). Students who get B score in cycle 1, meeting 1 (4 people), meeting 2 (4 people) and meeting 3 (12 people). On cycle 2, meeting 1st (6 people), 2nd meeting (5 people) and no B value at 3rd meeting. This means giving serial images and several questions, so that the writing skills of students X IIS.1 of SMA Negeri 3 Tebing Tinggi can be improved.

THE USING OF PAKEM APPROACH ON THE ACTIVITY OF STUDENT LEARNING ENGLISH 巴基姆教学法在学生英语学习活动中的运用

This study was aimed to know the teaching method of the teacher, and to know the active learning of students in the classroom. The research method used in this research was a descriptive study. The population of this research was the sixth grade of SD Kartika XX-I Makassar with the sample consist of 26 students. Data collection is taken by giving the test. The students were asked to rearrange the picture in groups. The results found that the method used by teachers is PAKEM method. The result of the average score is 75.05 with a standard deviation of 16.2. It is known that the range of values of 80-100 are 7 people (26.9%) with excellent category, 66-79 ranges of 6 (23.1%) with good category, the range of values 56-65 is 3 (11, 5%) with moderate category, 40-55 value ranges were 6 persons (23.1%) with the category of less, 30-39 score range was 4 persons (15,4%) with failed category. It can be concluded that student activeness in class is good.

This study aimed to find out empirical data, to see using picture strategy effective in improving students’ reading skill at seventh-grade student of SMP Negeri 8 Seluma. The sample of this study was 62 students taken from the first grade of SMP Negeri 8 Seluma, the students were 31 students of VII-A, as experiment class and 31 students from VII-B, as control class. The method which was used in this study was a quantitative method and the design used in this study was an experiment design. The data collected in this research were analyzed by using t-test. According to the result of statistical calculation, the obtained value of (t-observation) is 2.67 and the value of “tt” (t table) from the df (60) on the degree of significance of 5% is 2.01. Comparing to the with each value of the degree of significance, the writer finds 2.67 > 2.04. So too is higher than tt or to > tt. The finding of this study it can be concluded that using the picture in teaching reading skill is quite a success by using Picture. It is not only effective to lead students to feel more interesting and enjoy doing activity in the class but also it can give the students the opportunities to be active in teaching a Reading skill.

Developing Reading Material based Think Pair Share Model to Enhance Students' Reading Skill on Fourth Semester English Students Prof. DR. Hazairin, SH University. 开发基于阅读材料的思维对分享模式提高英语四学期学生的阅读能力

This study aimed to produce Reading Teaching Materials which valid and effective. It can use to the students especially for Reading subjects. Research and development design was used for this study. The research was conducted at Fourth Semester English Students Prof. DR. Hazairin, SH University. Data collecting techniques used were tests, interviews, and questionnaires. The Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis of quantitative and qualitative. The results showed that the materials developed are valid, and effective. The validity showed from the assessment of lesson plan (RPS), student worksheet (LKS), teaching materials, and tests of learning outcomes. While the effectiveness of reading teaching materials based on Think Pair Share model that have been developed by learning activity indicated enthusiastic students in the learning process by using Think Pair Share model achievements approval ≥ 75%. In addition to the learning outcomes of students have reached 92,5%. While the response of students to the learning process that had been conducted shows that the high positive response, the above achievements calculating response was 80%. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the Reading teaching materials based Think Pair Share Model can be used and implemented on students, especially in the subject of Reading.
