This paper presents a full-wave model for the analysis of a lossless two-conductor interconnect. This model accounts for high-frequency effects, like distortion and radiation, that arise because the structure is open and of finite length, and that cannot be predicted by the standard transmission line (STL) model. This enhanced transmission line model (ETL) consists of a mixed system of differential and integral equations, whose kernel shows the logarithmic singularity typical of the surface distributions. The problem has been solved by using two different procedures: one based on the collocation method, the other on a dual formulation in the spectral domain

The radiation of a microwave oven is studied through two ways: measurement and numerical modeling in this paper. The measurements are made under different conditions. From the measurement results, the important radiation characteristic of the microwave oven can be concluded. A numerical modeling of the microwave oven is then established. Based on this model, the radiation of the microwave oven is calculated. The calculation result is well agreed with the measurement result. It has supported our conclusion

GM has recently upgraded and expanded their EMC test facilities with four state-of-the-art EMC testing chambers at its Milford, Michigan USA facility. These 10 m semi-anechoic chambers are used interchangeably for radiated emissions and radiated immunity testing for the company's automotive vehicles including cars, trucks and buses. The size of this upgrade and the way the tests are carried out at this facility are of significant importance to Automotive EMC in general and the purpose of this paper is to outline the testing that is carried out now by GM

Based on the transient electric field measurement in the 500 kV substations, the authors measured the EMP susceptibility of a set of microprocessor-based protection relay of high voltage substations to electromagnetic field pulse (EMP). The results of measurement show that the field suppression effect of shielding box of protection relay and the ability of relay to resist interference like as EMP are enough to be compatible in the maximal transient switching electric field in substations

This paper focuses on the power performances at the network of the driving systems with induction motors and frequency static converters. Noticing that the global power factor is influenced by the elements of the DC link circuit, we found the filter design possibility from power quality reasons. The achieved MATLAB-SIMULINK model corresponds to a driving system fed from a three-phase diodes rectifier and to a sinusoidal modulation of the inverter. The numerical results bring into strong relief the command frequency and load influence on the global power factor and fundamental power factor. These results are accompanied by experimental verifications, which validate the SIMULINK models and the algorithm conceived by the authors

Methods for measurements of EMF exposure due to GSM base stations are presented. These methods rely on recommendations and standards, and must satisfy a given legal framework stating certain limits. The consequences to measuring methods due to low legal limits (below the ones recommended by ICNIRP) are discussed using the example of the Swiss installation limit values. Problems arising form requiring worst case concepts when implementing low legal limits, are pointed out. Finally, the importance of coordinating measurement and calculation methods is put forth

In this paper, a plate antenna with elliptical cross section and ellipticity ratio is studied. The return loss of the proposed antenna and conventional antennas is investigated using the simulation package CST MW Studio ver. 3.2 and fabricated antennas. The effects of ellipticity ratio on the radiation pattern and reflection coefficients are described. The given structure can handle the average power of several hundreds of watts. The simulated results of this antenna are obtained for various values of the ellipticity ratio of elliptical cross section loaded at the input port

Modeling a TEM cell with a numerical field calculation program, the total electric and magnetic field inside the cell can be calculated only. The contribution of higher order modes can not be isolated. This article provides a method to extract higher order mode fields out of the total field and a procedure to determine the resonant frequencies and the type of higher order modes appearing in a Crawford cell. The method combines numerical field computations with analytical field calculations for higher order modes

In this paper, antenna with parasitic non-uniform wire rings is studied. The return loss of the proposed antenna and conventional monopole antennas is investigated using the simulation package CST MW Studio ver. 3.2. The comparison between the results of the simulation and the data in literatures is carried out. The effects of the wire rings on the reflection coefficients of the proposed monopole antenna are described. The case of the non-uniform wire rings employing the weighting function to the simple monopole is dealt. The simulated results of the antenna are obtained for various values of the radius of wire rings, the number of rings, and the period of each wire

Specific absorption rate (SAR) designates the electromagnetic power density deposited per unit mass of biological tissue. SAR measurements are required to assess the compliance of mobile phones with existing standards and recommendations. The use of homogeneous phantoms leads to a relatively simple distribution of the electric field. Several ways of determining the decrease of the electric field in function of depth are here explored. The choice of a pseudopropagation constant allows to drastically reduce the number of E-field measurement points needed for the SAR calculation. The measurement time is then reduced to less than a minute, while the standard way takes about 10 minutes for a complete measurement of almost thousand E-field data points
