Informal enterprise in Africa has always been considered by sociologists and economists as a consequence of underdevelopment, i.e. a transitional form that will disappear rapidly with economic expansion. It has thus often been neglected by researchers in favour of the interest given to the formal enterprise. However, informal enterprise in Africa occupies an important place in African economies.
The objective of this paper is to present an exploratory analysis of a non typical form of entrepreneurship in Africa: the emergence of the informal entrepreneurship within large formal organizations. We suggest that it is inappropriate to consider the informal sector as the opposite of the formal sector. In fact, the two sectors cohabit and intermingle. This research attempts to set the groundwork of the relationships between the microsociological dimension of the social capital and entrepreneurship of the micro-business in Africa.
The starting point for this reflection is to say that the informal sector is not an expression of economic irrationality or clandestinity. On the contrary, it is an expression of a response by stakeholders to the inability of formal sector mechanisms to meet their needs.

This study describes business developments in the Macau-Zhuhai-Hengqin border region from an entrepreneurship perspective. The purpose is to understand the nature and extent of cross-border entrepreneurship in this border region. We first review literature about entrepreneurship in cross border regions and develop a conceptual framework. Then, as background, we discuss the relationship between entrepreneurship and regional development. Given the significant impact of tourism in Macau and Hengqin, we also review literature about tourism development from an innovation perspective. Next, we provide an overview of the Macau-Zhuhai-Hengqin border region that includes key socio-economic indicators. After we present a series of case studies about firms doing business in the Macau-Zhuhai border region that are located in the Zhuhai Macau Cross Border Industrial Park and the Hengqin Innovalley Park. Last, we develop a documentary analysis of business sectors emerging in Hengqin that have participation of companies from Macau. The results indicate that entrepreneurship in the Macau-Zhuhai-Hengqin border region has gained a new impetus after the creation of the Hengqin New Area. Public and private organizations from Macau have taken advantage of the opportunities available. The governments of Macau and Zhuhai play leading roles not only at policy level but also in launching key strategic projects. Several policies aim at attracting talents and entrepreneurship based on knowledge, innovation and technology. As of 2019, the investment of Macau companies in Hengqin is estimated in RMB 11.6 billion in traditional Chinese medicine, living and health services, and multipurpose complexes. The Macau-Hengqin cross border innovation system is still in early stage of development. Key policies have been developed and the first series of investment projects are about to be completed in 2020. The main challenges for developing this cross border system will be the development of new interorganizational systems to have positive impact on knowledge creation, cluster-based development, cross-border partnerships, business networks, and institutions.

The objective of this investigation was to assess the impact of multinational oil companies’ (MOCs) corporate social responsibility (CSR) interventions in female education programmes in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. A total of 800 rural women were sampled across the region. The results from the logit model showed that rural women depended on CSR interventions of MOCs to address some of the logistical and cultural challenges associated with women’s access to post-secondary education in local communities. However, despite the significant success in supporting education initiatives generally, none of the scholarships target females specifically, and compared to men, the low level of human capital in rural women has persisted. This implies that if CSR interventions are not tailored to enhance gender diversity and promote economic opportunities for women alongside education, they may perpetuate the obstruction of women’s participation in economic, political and social development. By extension, this could delay the reduction of poverty and attainment of Sustainable Development Goals in the Niger Delta region.

Overtime, as the earth evolved, technology advancement also continues to evolve in the aspects of human brain matter. People are now literate and becoming more innovative in transforming the old trends or systems with the use of complicated things that intermingle with the technological aspects into tools that give substantial benefits to society's use. XBRL is one of the most prominent technology in this 21st-century era. While XBRL has been widely used by countries around the world, however, the existence is still not viable. This thus contributes to research on the impact of XBRL in emerging countries. This study will also examine the challenges, effects and benefits of adopting or implementing XBRL. The research used secondary data; existing literature focusing on the context of emerging countries to analyze XBRL's impact. In addition, further understanding regarding XBRL also included to enhance the knowledge and awareness in regards of the technology. The study concludes that XBRL could benefit stakeholders across the supply chain, and there were several alternatives to address the challenges. While the effects, they mainly give the stakeholders positive impacts that co contribute to the benefits of using XBRL.

Within the rural development debate, there has been increasing call for a stronger territorial focus that emphasizes the utilization and development of local resources along with the demands of community members. This study evaluates the impact of a poverty reduction program on two well-being dimensions: income and consumption in education and health. The empirical analysis uses a primary dataset of 2,234 beneficiary and non-beneficiary households residing in rural areas of Mexico. The results offer valuable insights on how poverty reduction programs can improve the well-being level in the targeted communities through capability-building interventions linked to investments in two forms of territorial capital, namely human capital and productive assets.

In recent years, young people in nearly every country in the Sahel, experience bad labor market outcomes. In Niger, 5, 9 million people are active, of which 6% are unemployed and 26% are underemployed (INS, 2017). Agriculture alone accounts for 75.6% of the active population. 6.3 % of this population has independent business and 4.3% is in livestock, fishing or hunting. Artisans and industrial workers as well as state officials make up a significant proportion. The age group of 15 to 29 years is the most affected by unemployment with a rate of 23.7% (INS, 2017). Furthermore, about 1.5 million young people aged between 13 and 19 are out of the education system (INS, 2017). Unemployment among rural young people in the Sahel particularly in Niger has been a serious cause for concern as the lack of employment opportunities and career choices make easy their participation in criminal activities and their enrollment in terrorist. Additional personal and social costs associated with unemployment include poverty, debt, homelessness and housing stress, family tensions and breakdown, boredom, alienation, shame and stigma, increased social isolation, crime, erosion of confidence and self-esteem. The general objectives of this study are to measure the extent of some of the personal and social costs associated with unemployment in the rural area of Madaoua in the region of Tahoua, Republic of Niger and to test the willingness of the companies and Non Government Organization (NGO) to recruit in rural area when the qualifications exist. The article used multi-stage sampling technique. At the 1st stage, one rural district was selected randomly from the rural town of the department of Madaoua. At the 2nd stage, two villages were selected from the selected rural district using simple random sampling technique. At the final stage, 120 respondents consisting of 60 from each village were surveyed. Another survey was conducted toward potential employers. The study revealed the existent of socio-economic and psychological impacts on unemployed rural young people. The study also showed that the personal and social costs associated with unemployment are reduced by better economic status of the unemployed person’s family. Finally, the study pointed out that the low level of work-related competences held by young people in rural area played a significant role on youth unemployment in rural area.

The author raises the question of the beginnings of Polish rural sociology, the legitimacy of binding its genesis only with the year 1918 and the restitution of independence. In the first part of the article he critically analyzes a quite commonly dominant view, according to which numerous dissertations on the social life of a village appearing 100 or even 200 years earlier cannot be considered sociological (at most sociographic). He puts forward the thesis that in a situation where contemporary rural sociology is grappling with a crisis of identity, and losing the institutional back-up, it is desirable to discuss this controversial issue again. In its second part - performing exegesis of selected studies on the Polish countryside and Polish agriculture from the 18th and 19th centuries - tries to prove that it is difficult to deny them the sociological status, as the knowledge they contained was: methodically acquired (means using research methods and techniques); expressed in a language containing defined terms, referring to theoretical systems; and enabled to answer different types (descriptive, explanatory, prognostic and practical) research questions.

Implementation of the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become important for all stakeholders and an important part of company’s businesses and reporting. Little research attention is given to the research about CSR from employees’ perspective and to the influence of CSR to employees. All aspects of employees’ wellbeing should be a part of internal dimension of CSR. If employees perceive their company as socially responsible, they will show positive behavior towards company. This paper presents the comparative analysis of yearly reports’ results from 2012 to 2017 about CSR investments in employees’ wellbeing of companies which were members of Responsible Business Forum Serbia. The main goal was to determine if there was a trend in these investments. Employees have very significant role in business goals achievement but in CSR implementation also, so management should carefully define their roles in CSR implementation. The company could achieve even more benefits if it communicates effectively with employees about CSR topics. Communication channels used for CSR, such as reports and web sites, were analyzed as means to inform public, but more importantly employees about companies’ CSR activities. Establishment of good relation between employees and company requires using a CSR as strategic tool.

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence carbon emission disclosure in extractive companies in Indonesia. Measurement of the extent of carbon emission disclosure is by using a checklist developed based on the information request sheet provided by the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project). Factors to be tested are Company Characteristics using Current Ratio, Return on Assets and Debt to Equity Ratio and Environmental Performance using PROPER Ratings. The sample of this study was all extractive companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2016-2018 that were selected using purposive sampling. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis. The results of this study show that only environmental performance variables affect the disclosure of carbon emissions, while the Current Ratio, ROA and Debt to Equity Ratio variables do not affect the disclosure of carbon emissions.
