Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk dan fungsi tindak tutur ekspresif berbahasa Indonesia oleh mahasiswa pembelajar BIPA asal Tiongkok di Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta tahun akademik 2016/2017. Pendekatan dalam penelitian ini merupakan kualitatif. Jenis penelitian kualitatif yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah penelitian studi kasus. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Penelitian dilakukan pada tanggal 26 April 2017 di kelas BIPA, yaitu kelas Yunan (Yunan University of Nationalities/Yunan Minzu University/Yunnan Minzu Daxue). Data dalam kajian ini adalah semua kata, frasa, dan kalimat yang merupakan tuturan ekspresif. Data diambil dari sumber data yang berupa percakapan yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa dari Yunan University of Nationalities (YUN). Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui pengamatan dan dokumentasi. Pemeriksaan keabsahan data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan berbagai cara. Untuk kriteria kredibilitas atau derajat kepercayaan, dilakukan pemeriksaan data dengan teknik ketekunan pengamatan dan pengecekan sejawat. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan secara induktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dua hal. Pertama, bentuk tindak tutur ekspresif berbahasa Indonesia oleh mahasiswa pembelajar BIPA asal Tiongkok di Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta pada tahun akademik 2016/2017 berdasarkan tataran linguistiknya termasuk tindak tutur langsung literal berupa kata, frasa, dan kalimat. Sementara itu, berdasarkan pengaruh bahasa pertama, dalam tindak tutur ekspresif berbahasa Indonesia tersebut ditemukan adanya alih kode dan campur kode dengan menggunakan bahasa Indonesia dan bahasa Mandarin. Hal ini terjadi karena keterbatasan penggunaan kode terutama bahasa Indonesia. Kedua, fungsi tindak ekspresif berbahasa Indonesia oleh mahasiswa pembelajar BIPA asal Tiongkok di Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta pada tahun akademik 2016/2017 adalah menyetujui, membenarkan, mengklarifikasi, mengungkapkan rasa heran, mengungkapkan rasa bingung, mengungkapkan rasa yakin, dan mengungkapkan rasa senang di mana fungsi tindak tutur ekspresif untuk mengungkapkan rasa bingung merupakan fungsi yang paling banyak ditemukan.

Strategi inkuiri adalah proses pembelajaran dimana siswa aktif mencari dan menyelidiki secara sistematis, kritis, logis, analitis, sehingga siswa dapat menemukan sendiri pengetahuan yang diperolehnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hasil belajar dan aktivitas siswa dengan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran inkuiri. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Samarinda dan sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII-B yang berjumlah 25 siswa. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen semu. Hasil belajar siswa diukur menggunakan instrument tes hasil belajar berupa post test sedangkan aktivitas siswa diukur dengan menggunakan lembar observasi dengan satu pengamat. Berdasarkan hasil analisis seluruh siswa mendapatkan nilai diatas KKM yaitu 82,40 dan aktivitas siswa dikelas baik dalam kegiatan individu maupun kelompok, jadi penerapan strategi pembelajaran inkuiri terbilang baik.

Education at this time is a tool for unifying the nation, equalizing opportunities, and developing one’s potential to the fullest. So that through education can minimaze the differences of all citizens so that they can develop their potential. This research is a type of qualitative research. The data analysis technique in this study uses the reception analysis method, namely by collecting data from in-depth interviews. This research is a descreptive study. The target in this study was students of SMA Negeri 17 Samarinda who were in grade 12. This research has analysis that qualitative narratives obtained from the rseults of interviews with profound, with students of SMA Negeri 17 Samarinda. The technique used in this study to collect data is by in-depth interviews which are then obtained qualitative narratives and analyzed to get answers to the formulations of this research problem. The conlusion that can be drawn from this study is that SMA Negeri 17 Samarinda has a very important role in the development of students ability to have insight, behavior to respond to the reality of an advanced and just life. The reality of live today is based on multicultural differences, the refore multicultural education can be said to be a process of developing all the potential or abilities of students who value pluarality and heterogenity as a consequence of religion, ethnicity, ethnicity and religion. So it can be concluded that multicultural education requires the highest respect and aprrection for human dignity and dignity from wherever He comes from and is to be relegius, especially in this environment of the SMA Negeri 17 Samarinda.

This study reports the difference of using flashcards and textbooks in teaching grammar for junior school students. The study aimed at examining the hypothesis that read: “flashcards do not improve grammar mastery.” This study used an experimental of post-test only design, implementing an experimental group that received flashcards for the treatments of learning grammar, and the controlled group that received textbooks for learning grammar. The hypothesis testing at p=0.05 and n = 48 indicated that Ho was rejected and the result was significant (t-value = 3.377 and t- table = 1.68). This means flashcards significantly improved grammar mastery. In other words, flashcards as media of teaching grammar is superior than using textbook.

English in Indonesia is a foreign language that should be learned and mastered by students. Education is a process of fundamental skills intellectual and emotional. The aim of education is to improve the quality of students in Indonesia, especially in writing. There are so many ways conducted by educational institution in improving students English quality in Indonesia. One of the institutions is SMA Negeri 1 Berau. Based on research conducted the researcher found that in SMAN Negeri 1 Berau has a language major program. The objective of this research is to know the students’ writing ability in descriptive text and their problems in writing of tenth grade language major students. This research used descriptive quantitative. The instruments are writing assessment and interview. The technique of collecting data, the researcher asked students to write a descriptive text with a place as a topic to measure the students writing ability and asked the students several questions to know their problem in writing. The data analysis technique was scoring based on writing rubric. The assessing of writing focused on five components, they are content, organization, vocabulary, language use, and mechanic. The assessing of writing had been given to some of the students of tenth grade language major students in SMA Negeri 1 Berau that consist of 8 students. Based on the data finding, it showed that writing ability of tenth grade language major students in SMA Negeri 1 Berau was 3,75 that categorized into mediocre level. The average category of content was mediocre, the average category of the organization was mediocre, the average category of vocabulary was good, the average category of the language used was mediocre, and the average category of the mechanic was mediocre. From the interview, the students have difficulties in finding references in writing, word choices, arranged words to be a good sentence, arranged sentences to be a good paragraph, and developing the idea. Most of them admit difficlties with the language use. Some of them said they have no probems with vocabulary and mechanic such as capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.

A misleading conception of teaching-learning Sosial Sciences for elementary and secondary school in Indonesia has widely occurred. Social Science lesson is considered simple, from which learning is basically a recall and comprehension of a text, and the teaching model is simply providing students with textbook for reading. Similar to other lessons, the substance of IPS is obviously hard to teach. People change as well as the social life. Those changes are leading the changing of social science. Learning social science tries to understand those changing. The understanding of social science will help the learners, particularly young people, make reasonable decisions for public goods as citizens to live together and participate in social life.

Writing skill is a hard skill among others because it has to be a concern more about it, and we need to follow some rules that related to every single step, they are word choice, coherent, correlation, and grammar. The students should choose the proper word to express meaning so that the readers catch what information they wrote. The information of each paragraph, main idea, and the argumentation of the researcher should be coherent. Grammar also plays important role in writing. The use of correct grammar will not be confusing the readers. Moreover, the error of using grammar will make a serious misunderstanding toward the readers. The successful of learning writing is not merely depending on the students, but it needs a teacher contribution to reach the learning of English writing.

Abstract This study aims to improve the reading culture for early grade students by using the Batu-Basah learning model where the implementation of the action is carried out for 3 days, the problem that occurs at this time is the lack of student reading interest, especially non-textbooks so that researchers will carry out learning using the Batu- model. Wet and implemented for three days. This research method is a descriptive qualitative method where data sources are taken from research results and secondary data from research results that have been published in journals, the data analysis technique used is data reduction which concludes the research results related to (observation results, student activity sheet results and student presentations). The results of this study were that on the first day of observation, it showed that some students still looked less enthusiastic in participating in activities. The second day and the third day of the observations showed that the students' reading interest had increased, this could be seen from the enthusiasm of the students in participating in this literacy activity. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the Batu-Basah learning model is able to improve the reading culture and courage of class II A students of SDN 007 Sungai Pinang. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif dimana sumber data diambil dari hasil penelitian dan data sekunder dari hasil penelitian yang telah diterbitkan ke dalam jurnal, teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah reduksi data yang menyimpulkan hasil penelitian terkait dengan (hasil observasi, hasil lembar aktivitas siswa dan presentasi siswa). Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini adalah pada hari pertama observasi menunjukan bahwa sebagian siswa masih terlihat kurang bersemangat dalam mengikuti kegiatan. Hari kedua dan hari ketiga hasil observasi menunjukkan bahwa minat baca siswa mengalami peningkatan, hal ini terlihat dari antusias siswa dalam mengikuti kegiatan literasi ini. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran Batu-Basah mampu meningkatkan budaya baca serta keberanian siswa kelas II A SDN 007 Sungai Pinang.

English is the one of the international languages which taught and learned in Indonesia as a foreign language. English skills are dividedinto 4 skills that the students need to be mastered. There are speaking, reading, writing, and listening. Listening is an important skill becauseit can make someone knowsomething in English properly. Students have problems when they listen to the native speakers. A bad listening skill of Senior High School students made the researcher took listening skill and then tried the English songs to teach the students to solve the problems they got when they learned listening skill in the class. The research design of this research is experimental research. The population is the tenth grade students of SMAN 2 Samarinda and the sampling technique in this research used simple random sampling. To collect the data the researcher conducted the pre-test and post-test to know about the score of listening test. To analyse the data the researcher used t-test formula. The research objective was to find out whether there waseffective or not for the students who have been taught by using English songs. The researcher used two classes for control class and experiment class. The sample of this research was X Language and Culture and X Social 3 at SMA Negeri 2 Samarinda.The instrument of the research is the listening test, there is fill in the blank test. In analyzing the data, it used repeated measure t-test in which significance level 5% with d.f. = Pairs – 1. The result of the research showed that mean score in pretest of the students’ in experiment class was 52,78 and the mean score of the students’ in control class was 59,89. While the mean score in posttest of the students’ in experiment class 76,17 and the students’ in control class was 54,50. The result also showed that there was a significant difference of the mean score. It had increased about 23,39 in experiment class after treatments. The result of tcount was 24,767 with significant level 5% with d.f. = Pairs – 1.It was found t- table = 2,030.Because of thet-calculated>t-table, so it could be concluded that there was significant. So, the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) in this research is accepted. In conclusion, it can be said that English songs is effective to teach listening skill.

It is known that students with special need have a different treatment in their teaching-learning process although, some of them with certain conditions can be allocated in the regular school. Therefore, the writer seeks the use of visual media in teaching vocabulary to students with special needs at SMKN 13 Malang with focused on the kinds of visual media and the ways of using visual media. This study was conducted on qualitative design to draw data of the topic discussed. It involved an English teacher who used visual media in teaching vocabulary in SMKN 13 Malang, and 12 students with special needs. The instruments to collect the data were observation field note and interview guideline; meanwhile, the methods to collect the data were non-participant observation and semi or partially structured interview. The result showed that the teacher used still pictures, poster, real object, and slides as the kinds of visual media. Also, she used some procedures with the following steps: (1) preparing the media and distributing to them equally or asking them to use it in turn; (2) delivering the rules of using the media; (3) teaching them vocabulary based on material by TPR method with imitating and modeling strategies; (4) giving rewards for their accomplishment during the teaching-learning process; (5) monitoring their understanding by asking them one by one to mention the vocabulary.
