The background of this research is the author's interest in the tilawati method used in attracting the attention of the community in addition to filling spare time to take part in learning the Koran. This method offers advantages in the learning process and with the results obtained later, ranging from understanding makharijul uruf, ifatul uruf, gharib musykilat, to understanding tajwid law. The formulation of the research problem is how to apply the tilawati method in learning to read the Koran to housewives at the Jami' Nurul Muhajirin mosque, Mulawarman Tenggarong Seberang village. The purpose of the study was to determine the application of the tilawati method in learning to read the Koran to housewives at the Jami' Nurul Muhajirin mosque, Mulawarman village, Tenggarong Seberang. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive field research, taking the research location at the Jami' Nurul Muhajirin mosque, Mulawarman village, Tenggarong Seberang. Data was collected by using observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The informants are the director and administrator of the Tilawati Education Center (TEC) Mulawarman, educators and students. The steps in analyzing the data include data collection, data condensation, data presentation and data verification. Test the validity of the data using triangulation techniques. The results of the research showed that the application of the tilawati method in learning to read the Koran for housewives at the Jami' Nurul Muhajirin Mosque, Mulawarman Village, Tenggarong Seberang, were: 1. The application of the tilawati method through a classical approach, namely educators reading students imitated and read together. 2. The application of the tilawati method through an individual approach, where students take turns reading each line. In its application, there are things that have not been fulfilled, such as the use of achievement books and memorization material books, as well as the target time of the Koran so that it has not yet reached completion. However, the target time for the volume remains in accordance with the provisions set by the central tilawati institute. This tilawati method is very suitable to be taught to housewives with a gradual (slow) system. So that the application of the tilawati method by the Mulawarman TEC institution can improve the ability to read the Koran in Mulawarman Village housewives

This study aims to determine the implementation of the takhassus program for memorizing the Qur'an at the integrated Islamic junior high school (SMP IT) Cordova Samarinda. In this study, the researcher chose to use a descriptive qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were the principal, representatives of teaching teachers, homeroom teachers, chief coordinators and representatives of takhassus class students. Data collection techniques were through observation, interviews and documentation. The results show that the implementation of the Takhassus program for memorizing the Qur'an at SMP IT Cordova Samarinda has gone quite well, starting from the recruitment of students, learning, to the evaluation process. This can be seen through a well-thought-out planning process, which is then continued through an implementation in the classroom as a learning program and follow-up through evaluations in order to help make decisions in the future.

This research was motivated by the Head of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Samarinda led by Drs. H. Saharuddin, M.Pd. The success of an institution cannot be separated from the leadership of a leader. Visionary leadership is leadership that puts forward the implementation of the vision for progress in the institution not only in the present but also in the future and is able to provide direction, provide change and breakthroughs for the progress of the institution being led. So that the figure of a visionary leader has big ideas to be able to advance the institution he leads and is ready to compete with other educational institutions. While the purpose of this study was to determine the visionary leadership of the Madrasah Head at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Samarinda. The method used in this research is qualitative research using descriptive method. Using interview, observation, and documentation techniques. The data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman model, which consists of data collection, data condensation, and drawing conclusions. Credibility test is done by source triangulation and technique triangulation. The data sources in this study were the Head of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Samarinda, the Head of Administration, 3 teachers, 2 administrative staff, and 2 students. The results obtained are that the head of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Samarinda in visionary leadership as a direction determinant is able to direct and mobilize madrasa residents to be able to achieve the vision, and be able to formulate a shared vision of the academic community, committees, and related agencies. As an agent of change, able to improve discipline, facilities and infrastructure, and student achievement, as well as innovate to advance madrasas. As a spokesperson, able to establish good communication, establish cooperation, establish harmonious relationships with colleagues and with madrasa residents, and socialize the vision, and resolve problems through discussion and deliberation. As a trainer, able to improve the quality of performance of members by participating in seminar activities and able to provide examples to madrasa residents, able to turn vision into action as outlined through madrasa programs. , able to establish relationships, and innovate to advance the madrasa. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factor is difficult to find if someone wants to coordinate or convey something.

The background of this research is the importance of developing all aspects of child development. Development of aspects of child development by carrying out habituation activities. One of the habituation activities carried out at the Al-Azhar 5 Islamic Kindergarten in Samarinda is the dhuha prayer activity. The purpose of this study was to analyze how the aspects of child development in dhuha prayer activities at Al-Azhar Islamic Kindergarten 5 Samarinda. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive approach. The location of this research is the Islamic Kindergarten Al-Azhar 5 Samarinda. Data collection techniques used are observation, interview and documentation techniques. This study uses data sources, namely school principals, teachers/educators, students and school documentation. The data analysis technique used is data condensation, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results of the analysis of the aspects of child development in the dhuha prayer activities developed well. First, physical motor development develops with children being able to move in a coordinated manner in the dhuha prayer movement. Second, children's language development develops with children being able to express receptive language by following the teacher's directions and expressing expressive language by reading prayer readings. Third, social emotional development develops with the child's ability to be responsible for completing Duha prayer activities to completion and following the rules of prayer correctly. Fourth, the development of religious and moral values is developing, namely being able to recognize the religion he adheres to, namely Islam and knowing Allah as his Lord through the beautiful names of Allah, namely Asmaul Husna, carrying out worship, namely praying both obligatory and sunnah prayers such as dhuha prayer, and reading prayers. -prayers such as prayer ablution and prayer after prayer. Fifth, cognitive development develops with children being able to understand the concept of dhuha prayer.

The current paper aims to identify the strategies implemented by teachers for teaching grammar to Iraqi university students. This descriptive study is essential for students to make sense of the language they are learning. This skill is used for understanding language and avoiding ambiguities. It is taken for granted that grammar plays a key role in teaching a foreign language. Yet, for most students, grammar is a difficult topic. It is argued here that if teachers are familiar with the following strategies for teaching grammar, the teaching processes will be successful, beneficial, and effective. Although there is no limit to the number of strategies used for this purpose, the present paper focuses on the six most successful and widely used strategies which contribute much to the teaching processes. These successful strategies are inductive strategy versus deductive strategy. Incorporating songs, creating opportunities for students to take part in grammar lessons, presenting grammatical items and structures in contrast, and using visuals can serve as wonderful aids in teaching grammar. The study concludes with some points that can be applied for further research.

Code switching and code mixing occur when bilinguals switch or mix language in speech or conversation. Some of the students used code switching and code mixing to avoid misunderstandings in their explanations. In addition, the researcher noted that the use of code switching and code mixing with Indonesia and English is done in a classroom presentation. Based on the issues, the purpose of this research is to find out the types and the reasons used code switching and code mixing of EFL students in the classroom presentation of UINSI Samarinda. This research used a descriptive qualitative design. The data and sources data of this research was TBI 3 in the fourth semester of the ESP course with 5 students. This research used the researcher itself as the main instrument and interview. The data were collected using an audio recorder. Based on the result, the researcher found that the most common code switching used by students was inter-sentential code switching. Next, code switching used by students were intra-sentential code switching and tag code switching. Moreover, the most common code mixing used by students was intra-sentential code mixing. After that, the second common code mixing used by students was involving a change of pronunciation. However, intra-lexical code mixing was not used by students in a classroom presentation. The students’ reasons used code switching and code mixing were talking about a particular topic, quoting somebody else, being emphatic about something, interjection, repetition used for clarification, and intention of clarifying the speech interlocutor.

This research is motivated by the rise of online game playing activity of student SMA Negeri in Kabupaten Penajam Paser Utara, which has an effect on moral change and a decrease in students’ study motivation who actively plays online games. This study aims to find out how the activity of playing online games, the morals, and the students’study motivation, how much the influence of online games playing activity on morals and students’ study motivation, and how much the influence of online game playing activity on morals and students’ study motivation simultaneosly. The type of this research is quantitative research, with data collection techniques used the form of questionnaires and documentation. The data analysis technique is simple linear regression and multiple linear regression. The population is all students of class X of SMAN 3, SMAN 4 and SMAN 5 of Kabupaten Penajam Paser Utara, totaling 467 people. The sample amounted to 94 people with purposive sampling technique. The research result show that : (1) the online game playing activity of students is a good with a value of μ = 46 (μ = X ˃ 51 ), (2) the morals of studens is so good with a value of μ = 52 (μ = Y1 ˃ 51 ), (3) Students’ study motivationis is a good with a value μ = 49 (μ = Y2 ˃ 51 ). (4) The value of rx_Y1 is 0,615, with a strong intensity and t_test = 7,487 > t_table = 1,66159, so Ha is accepted which means that the online game playing activity has a significant effect on the moral. The value of the coefficient of determination proves that online game playing activity has an effect 37,9% on the students’ moral and 62,1% is influenced by other variables. (5) The value of rx_Y2 is 0,619, with a strong influence and t_test =7,562 > 1,66159, so Ha is accepted which means that the online game playing activity has a significant effect on the motivation of study. The value of the coefficient of determination proves that online game playing activity has an effect 38,3% on the motivation of study and 61,7% is influenced by other variables. (6) Furthermore, the results of the multiple linear regression obtained a relationship of 0.656, it can be concluded that the activity of playing online games together has a strong and significant effect on moral and students’ study motivation of SMA Negeri in Kabupaten Penajam Paser Utara.

As technology grows rapidly, social media has become one inseparable element of the daily life of modern society. Its impacts have spread into every aspect of human life, including education. The use of social media in teaching and learning activities has brought a new contribution to education, especially in language learning. Using social media, people from different countries can find it easier to communicate with each other to exchange or learn languages together, such as English. As a global language, English has four skills to be mastered to get to the proficiency level. They are reading, listening, speaking, and writing. Among all the four skills, writing is considered to be the most complex one. As social media has brought much easiness and is very simple to use, utilizing social media to help the learning writing is considered to be helpful to help improve the effectiveness. Therefore, this article tried to uncover the use of social media in learning English writing.

The background study was Islamic higher education in Indonesia in two decades faced stagnancy especially in developing of Islamic thought. In this era, Islamic higher education seemed the informal education institution or conventional institutions by memorizing method without deep understanding. By 1970, Harun Nasution implemented some modern Islamic education cultures. Islam which was studied by academically so as the Islamic higher education increased significant. Harun Nasution did the modernization or dynamics of Islamic thought in Islamic higher education. This study aimed to know Harun thought in modernization in Islamic higher education and its effect in developing of Islamic higher education now. This study was literature review or library research by using Harun Nasution’s books as a primary data included other books or media which related in this study such as magazine, newspaper, journal as secondary data. This study approach was history-philosophy-pedagogic approach. This study result was Harun Nasution thought still gave effect in IAIN then University at the time, moreover UIN Jakarta and PTKI in Indonesia generally. To implant the academic thought in students and academic people still started IAIN so as UIN level, it tried to change the curriculum of PTKI which normative before by using socio cultural, build the postgraduate program in IAIN Jakarta as a Islamic thought center and place of Islamic analyze academically. The steps were gave the philosophy object, kalam, and research methodology and other objects to the students in IAIN. His thought could be filled until now. The students could understand the Islamic and general knowledge. It could be proofed by the graduate who could compete appropriated their skill.

Methods and techniques used by both ESL and EFL students in listening may be the same but the manner of teaching should be different. For instance, ESL students can learn to listen outside the class by using authentic material as listening to the conversation of a librarian in the library (real situation) while EFL students can also do that by listening to the video provided by the teacher which performs a conversation between native speakers in a library. The students should exercise their listening skills more in order to improve their level of mastery of listening. Students better not only do exercise in listening class but also in other places. Students must be confident in their own answers to be better in listening class and can know their own mistakes.
