Number of vehicles in use worldwide per person and depending on this traffic accidents increase day by day. Until today, various studies have been made on detection of the faulty vehicles in traffic. This study; in accordance with this purpose, is realized in order to recognize, classify vehicles on a photo or video that captured on a autoban or road which has two lanes and detect faulty ones between them by using ANN(Artificial Neural Network) and image processing techniques. In this system that developed by using Convolutional Neural Network, the vehicles can be recognized, classified according to their vehicle types and faulty vehicles can be detected with drawing a frame around them.

In this study, thermoresponsive hydrogel microspheres, namely, poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) were prepared by using an inverse suspension polymerization technique. The radiation-induced modification of PNIPAAm microspheres with itaconic acid (IA) was applied for synthesizing pH and thermoresponsive PNIPAAm-co-poly(itaconic acid) microspheres (PNIPAAm-co-PIA). The PNIPAAM-co-PIA microspheres were simply immersed with iron (Fe2+, Fe3+) ions. In order to investigate drug release behavior of the prepared microspheres, 5-Fluorouracil as a model drug, namely, anti-cancer drug.

Today Biosafety cabins are signed in various ways with the aim of preventing authorized personnel from being exposed to hazardous biological materials during laboratory work. In this work, our goal is to protect the authorized personnel from the possible infections and to provide a realistic work comfort. For this purpose, we design a remote control unit, which is simulates wrist movements simultaneously with accelerometer & gyroscope sensor or joystick circuit, to manage robotic arm with image-transferring system.

Thermoresponsive hydrogels have great potential in biomedical applications such as drug delivery systems and tissue engineering. Synthesis of hydrogels from renewable resources attracts attention day by day. In this study special type of thermoresponsive hydrogels were synthesized. These hydrogels are cross-linked hydrophilic polymers containing some biocompatible moieties which are derived from plant oils. Renewable resources based biocompatible materials are easily accessible, cost effective and also eco-friendly. This study is focused on synthesis of thermoresponsive hydrogels by using plant oil-based crosslinker. N-Isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) was used as thermoresponsive monomer and acrylated methyl ricinoleate (AMR) was used as plant oil-based crosslinker. The effect of crosslinker to monomer ratio on polymerization was investigated. Spectrophotometric measurements of quercetin molecule, one of the phenolic flavonoids, were performed at room temperature (RT) and body temperature (37°C). It was found that quercetin molecule released from hydrogels to aqueous medium is higher at body temperature compared to room temperature and also the molar ratio of crosslinker to monomer affects the release behaviour of hydrogels significantly. Finally plant-oil based crosslinker AMR, derived from renewable sources, can be used for hydrogel synthesis instead of other commercial crosslinker.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) nowadays are used in numerous fields. Direct Communication, Multi-hop Routing and Clustering are main approaches that can be used for communication protocols in Wireless Sensor Networks. In this study, novel clustering algorithms which are designed for WSNs are analyzed and compared. The comparison results are also summarized with a table. Finally, the popular algorithms LEACH and LEACH-F for WSNs are compared with a novel algorithm which is low energy fixed clustering (LEFCA) in terms of network lifetime and energy-efficiency.

Telemedicine has started to be beneficial to patients in remote regions. It is very important to monitor the ECG signals of these patients with heart disorders. Developments in information technology have started to provide important contribution to the clinical decision support systems for early detection and diagnosis. This study aimed to be part of clinical decision support systems and used easily calculated features for detection of ECG arrhythmia. Different classification methods are compared using these features. The performance of the method is tested on data used obtained from the PhysioNet database.

The number of wind energy plants in energy production is rapidly increasing in many countries of the world. In recent years, as an alternative energy source, it has been observed that wind energy installations have been established in various regions of our country. Wind turbines are sometimes discussed with the concern that the electromagnetic fields around them can cause health problems. In this study, ELF electromagnetic field levels are given, obtained around the 16.2 km long transmission line which enables the energy generated in 50 wind energy energy central turbines operating in Izmir-Karaburun locality to be transported to the 380kV Karaburun Havza GIS TM transformer center. The results are obtained in magnetic field and electric field. And they are evaluated for electromagnetic pollution in terms of environment and human health.

Echo cancellation has always in the preprocessing steps before the signals are converted to feature vectors and pattern classification. This is always the correct flow of speech identification. Therefore, in order to get the best cleaned signal, the usage of adaptive echo cancellation removed the echo and also the noise which deteriorates the signals and final results during classification process. The concepts of windowing length may improve the cleaned signals acquired after the noise or echo cancellation process is done. By proposing the preconfigured windowing length through sequential technique, the results is giving improvement from normal length of 200ms to 400ms whereby the results of Word Error Rate(WER), Equal Error Rate (EER) and accuracies can be viewed with increases around 5–10% of percentage values compared with echoed signal and reduced the WER and EER too with applying of the sequential parameterization (SPAP) technique.

Apatitic phosphates are considered within the category of bioceramics. HA and its derives are used of in the fields of medicine, orthopedics and dentistry in order to support a grow up of new bone cells. HA structures have a high biocompability and are widely in biomedical applications. On the other hand, synthesis of HA structures necessitates complex technologies (microwave sintering, hydrothermal synthesis etc.) and their production costs high. This study aims the production of nano apatitic structures with great biocompability from a natural material. Simple hotplate method was used to obtain natural, nano scale HA from eggshells. After calcination and sintering processes at different temperatures, the obtained apatitic phosphate powders have been structurally characterized by infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Morphological investigation has been conducted by FEG-SEM images. Biological investigations have been carried out for the produced nanosized bioceramics and the results reveal that these nanomaterials are promising for tissue engineering purposes.
