Reading has an influential role in language achievement where each student has their own preferred way to guide them which is called learning styles. The researcher interested in conducting the comparative study because students’ learning styles i.e., visual, auditory, and kinesthetic have dissimilar attainment in reading comprehension. The objectives of this research were to determine i) the significant difference in students’ reading comprehension achievement among students with visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles and ii) the highest and lowest reading aspect of each VAK student’s achievement. The approach of this research was quantitative. The sample of this research was 30 students in X IPA 6 of SMAN 3 Bandar Lampung chosen by purposive sampling method. Questionnaires and reading test were used to collect the data. The data were analyzed by using One Way Anova and MANOVA in SPSS 17.0 for Windows. The result showed there was a significant difference in students’ reading comprehension achievement based on their learning style since the f-value was 1.287 with the alpha 0.07. In addition, the result of the VAK students’ achievement showed the highest aspect of visual students was determining vocabulary, while the highest aspect of auditory and kinesthetic students was determining reference. The lowest aspect of visual and auditory students was finding main idea while the lowest aspect of kinesthetic students was making inference. Keywords: reading comprehension, reading achievement, visual, auditory, kinesthetic
采用SPSS 17.0 for Windows软件进行单因素方差分析(One Way Anova)和方差分析(MANOVA)。结果显示,不同学习风格的学生在阅读理解成绩上存在显著差异,f值为1.287,alpha值为0.07。此外,VAK学生的成绩结果显示,视觉学生的最高方面是确定词汇,而听觉和动觉学生的最高方面是确定参考。视觉和听觉学生在寻找主旨方面表现最差,而动觉学生在推理方面表现最差。关键词:阅读理解,阅读成就,视觉,听觉,动觉

This research aimed to find out whether or not there was significant improvement of students’ procedure text writing after the implementation of video as media and to investigate students’ perception with regard to interest, challenge, choice and enjoyment of the implementation of video as media in language learning. This research was conducted through quantitative and qualitative approach. A total of 29 eighth graders of SMPN 8 Bandarlampung took part in the current study. The instruments used in this research were writing test (pre- and post-test) and questionnaire. The resultshowed that students’ average score in the pre-test was 53.93 and in the post-test was 59.13, the gain score was 5.20. The result of the Paired Sample t-test confirmed the hypothesis that there was significant improvement in students’ procedure text writing, p<0.05, p = .000. The results of the questionnaire showed that this learning medium helps students increase their interest, provides them with challenge, choice, enjoyment. Writing has been one of the four skills in language learning that is very important to master. Analytical exposition text is one of the texts that should be mastered by the senior high school students. This research aims to find out whether there is a significant difference in students’ writing achievement before and after being taught with problem based learning and to investigate which aspect improves the most after the students being taught with PBL. Adapting a quantitative approach, this research was conducted through one group pretest and post-test design. The subjects of the research were thirty six students at Senior High School of 14 Bandar Lampung. The data were elicited through pretest and post-test in the form of analytical exposition text. The mean of both tests were analyzed using Paired Sample T-test with the significant level of 0.05. The result showed that there was a significant difference in students’ writing performance after they were taught with problem based learning concerning the gain of their score from the first to the second test. It could be seen from the computation that the significant values of the test were lower than alpha (0.00<0.05) while the t-value (7.595) was higher than t-table (2.0301). It was also revealed that organization was the most improved aspect among the others by having the gain of 0.375. Finally, it can be said that the problem based learning method can have a positive effect on the students’ analytical exposition text writing achievement. Keywords: Problem Based Learning, arguments, students’ writing achievement.

abstract: The objectives of this research are to find out whether there is an improvement of students’ content words vocabulary after they are taught by using songs. This research was conducted at the second-grade students of SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung in academic year 2019/2020. The researcher took class VIII D. The instrument used to get the data in this research was vocabulary test. Vocabulary tests in the forms of pre-test and post-test were done to collect the data. Then, the t-test was used to test the hypothesis. The result of the hypothesis test proves that song gives a positive effect on students’ content words vocabulary. It can be seen from the mean score of the pre-test and post-test which was analyzed through SPSS 16.00. In the pre-test, the mean score was 75 and it increases to 80 in the post-test. It means that there is an increase of 5 points. The result of t-test shows that the level of significance is p < 0.05 and significant two tail is p=0.000. It can be said that song gives positive effect because it can increase students’ vocabulary. Keywords: improving, vocabulary, song

The objectives of this research were to see whether any significant improvement of students’ vocabulary achievement and to find out which type of vocabulary has the most significant improvement. The design used was the one group pre-test post-test. Vocabulary test was the instrument to measure the pre-test and post-test. The result shows that the mean score of pretest is 64.33 while the mean of posttest is 75.20, with the N-gain number is 0.3047. It can be concluded that there is an improvement in students’ vocabulary achievement after implementing picture series in the learning process. The students’ scores in all types of vocabulary were increased. However, the most improved aspect was noun. The mean of this aspect in posttest (11,3) was higher than the mean in pretest (7,3) with the gain of 0,45977.

This research aimed to find out (i) how the students’ anxiety in speaking after being corrected through teacher-correction strategy, and (ii) how the students’ anxiety after being corrected through peer-correction strategy. This study was a quantitative which used the one-shot case study design. Then, two sets of questionnaire were used as the research instruments. It was conducted in third grade of Senior High School 1 Belalau. The result shows that the students’ anxiety is lower after being corrected through teacher-correction strategy. Furthermore, the students anxiety is not lower after being corrected by peers. The findings suggested that The students preferred to be corrected more by the teachers than their peers.

The objectives of this research were to find out whether there is any significant difference of the students’ reading comprehension at the first grade of MTsN 1 Bandar Lampung before and after the implementation of mind mapping strategy and to find out the students’ responses on the implementation of mind mapping strategy at the first grade of MTsN 1 Bandar Lampung. The design used was one group pretest posttest. The subject of the research was the first-grade students of MTsN 1 Bandar Lampung. VII C was chosen as the experimental class and VII D was chosen as the control class. The instrumen were reading test and questionnaire. The data were in form of scores taken from pretest and posttest. The result indicated that there was an improvement of students’ reading ability viewed from the pretest to posttest score (30.72 to 57.82) after they had been taught using mind mapping technique. Besides, a set of questionnaire was used to find out the students’ responses toward the mind mapping technique. It was found that majority of the students had positive responses toward the mind mapping technique. Thus, it can be concluded that Mind Mapping technique facilitates the students to improve their reading ability.
