: This research proposal aims to investigate the factors influencing the perception of Olympic athletes, with a specific focus on Beverly Zhu and Eileen Gu during the 2022 Winter Olympics. The study will explore how media networks frame the images and crises of these athletes on social media, as well as the impact of this framing on the general public's perceptions. By conducting a content analysis of social media posts from both sports media networks and the public, the study aims to identify patterns and correlations between media coverage and public responses. The analysis will examine the tone, content, and framing tactics used in the posts to understand how athlete images are constructed and perceived. The findings of this study will contribute to the fields of sports media and society by shedding light on the current-day influences of sports media companies on public perceptions and the framing tactics employed to shape these perceptions.

News media often employ metaphorical strategies to create national images in their reports, but there are few researches on foreign media's construction of China's images in the military reports. By analyzing the metaphors in The New York Times' report on the PLA's military exercises in the Taiwan Strait, the image of China portrayed by these metaphors, and their causes, based on the theory of critical metaphor analysis, it was found that it mainly used metaphors such as conflicts, journeys, bodies, and constructions to stigmatize China as a country that flaunts its power and undermines regional peace. This is closely related to the history and culture inherent in U.S. military expansion, the fear of China taking over its status as the world's superpower, and the ideology of competitive individualism.

Idol, that is, the object of worship, is the external cause of the movement of things. The word derives from the Greek "Idolon", meaning sculpture. In ancient Greece, many images such as gods, heroes, and wise men often became the original form of sculptures, such as Venus, Achilles, and Aristotle. The ancient Greek people believed that such sculptures could convey the power and wisdom of gods or figures. With the concentration of social power, the word "idol" began to refer to those people or things that were admired, loved and imitated. The concept of idol was more and more in line with human society, and the form of sculpture was closer and closer to real life. The new media born in the scientific and technological revolution has accelerated the evolution of the word "idol". The "idol" discussed in this paper mainly refers to pop singers, film and television stars and other celebrities in the entertainment circle, who have high visibility and exposure, and are known for their strong charm and attraction. In today's society, the commercialization trend of idols is more prominent, and idol worship has become a commercial cultural phenomenon, penetrating into all aspects of daily life. The new media environment is like a huge "Dream-Making Space", which continuously delivers emotional value to people, and continuously expands and strengthens idol capital through secondary sales, forming a complete capital closed loop. This paper will focus on the background of the new media era, combining sociology and communication theory to analyze the characteristics of Idol Commercialization, the trading path of "Idol Products" and the hidden risks of Idol Commercialization.
