The teaching of the English language is one of the fundamental pillars in the educational formation of students in today's world. The practice of the language contributes to the development of communication and expression skills, in addition to promoting interculturality and access to entertainment and study media. However, Brazilian schools predominantly employ the traditional teaching method, which relies on learning through grammatical rules and literal translations. This method is monotonous and repetitive, having as a consequence the demotivation of students with the discipline. Therefore, the application of technologies in education, such as virtual reality, increases students' interest in learning through interactive activities that encourage creativity and fun, improving the quality of education, absorption of content and their cognitive skills. This work presents a virtual reality tool that offers interactive three-dimensional virtual environments with the aim of assisting in the teaching and learning of English language for Brazilian elementary school students. The virtual environments were evaluated by the project researchers through a specific usability questionnaire for this type of environment, obtaining a final average of 4.53 out of 5.0, being considered suitable for future use in classrooms.

Trip Generating Developments (TGDs) have an influence on traffic in their location and are directly linked to the lack of control in the mobility of vehicles and pedestrians in the location, if their implementation is not properly planned. The objective of this work was to study traffic and conditions around Hospital da Vida (HV), located in the center Dourados-MS, as a Hospital PGV and propose safe mobility to the location. The study was developed with a bibliographical analysis of the topic, data relating to accidents and mobility in the region with local authorities, vehicle and pedestrian counts and on-site visits were also carried out. According to the data obtained, it was shown that HV has a high complexity/cost service, serving 33 municipalities in the region. According to data from counts carried out at the intersection of Toshinobu Katayama Street and Ciro Melo Street in Dourados-MS, a high flow of vehicles was noted, represented mainly by cars, as well as a high flow of pedestrians. In 500 meter radius studied had noticed the highest rate of accidents at the site in 2023, since 2020. Therefore, it was possible to note that the existing signs do not include safe mobility in the study site, with solutions being proposed using tactical urbanism and reinforcement of horizontal and vertical signs, with the aim of increasing safety and helping pedestrians stay and coexist.

The objective of this project was to develop a semantic model of arithmetic and logical operations for virtual hardware; this goal was achieved through three main steps: Implement logic gates and arithmetic and logic units in Nand2tetris virtual hardware simulator software; Implement recursive and iterative functions to check the correct functioning of logical and arithmetic operations in the p-code machine virtual machine. In the first stage, implementations of the elementary logic gates were developed in the hardware simulator software Nand2tetris. From these logic gates, combinational circuits and sequential circuits were built as logical and arithmetic unit, Half Adder, Full Adder, 16-bit Addition, 16-bit logical negation, 16-bit logical AND, 16-bit logical OR, among others. The second stage involved experimenting at a high level with arithmetic and logical operations, provided by the virtual machine p-code machine, which was implemented in the C programming language, as addition, subtraction, greater than, less than. In the third stage, having already implemented logical and arithmetic operations, iterative and recursive programs were developed to calculate the nth value of the Fibonacci Sequence and the factorial of any number n.

In this study we analyzed the concentration of the metals Cd, Cu, Pb, Fe and Ni in the muscle tissue and digestive tract of 13 species of fish from the Taquari River, collected in the northern region of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, in the Coxim micro-region, in order to quantify and compare the concentrations of these analytes present in these fish with the regulations for inorganic contaminants in Brazil (MERCOSUR) and abroad (FAO/WHO), thus making it possible to indicate whether they are within acceptable standards. The analyses were carried out using the Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry method and the results obtained indicate that Cd and Pb were not detected in all species. For Fe, Cu and Ni, no limits stipulated by legislation were found. Finally, the analysis showed that there are no factors of contamination by potentially contaminating metals through the consumption of fish by the population.

This paper seeks to evaluate the impacts arising from the insertion of distributed generation (DG) in electrical power distribution systems. In this circumstance, using the OpenDSS computational tool, simulations of four different scenarios were carried out, varying the DG penetration levels as a function of the total feeder load, considering a specific point of operation. Finally, the same feeder was simulated with photovoltaic generating sources distributed in bars next to the loads, in order to analyze the temporal characteristic of solar generation as a function of demand. Through the simulations, it was possible to analyze, interpret and highlight the impacts that the insertion of DG produces in the electrical power distribution systems. It was evident that the increase in DG penetration led to an improvement in the feeder voltage profile, power flow inversion and reduction of electrical losses in the feeder. It should be noted that the insertion of DG from renewable sources is a Brazilian reality and a path to be followed, since the diversification of the energy matrix in line with the use of new technologies, such as smart grids, will provide electrical power systems with greater safety, operational efficiency and quality in the product delivered to consumers.

Trees are indispensable to human life, they absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, protect ecosystems, reduce erosion and help to reduce the environment temperature. The manual identification of trees on public roads requires expense and time for recording and managing the data collected, since urban regions can be very large. We developed in this paper a method for the trees detection in urban areas from a 360 video. A YOLO neural network was trained to detect the trees from frames of the equirectangular video (360 images). We used Computer Vision techniques with the OpenCV library to develop algorithms to segment the regions that fit the detected trees in the rectilinear field of view (gnomonic projection), in order to verify if the trees are on the sidewalks. The results obtained showed around 80% success in detecting trees using YOLO, and an accuracy of 71% in the algorithm that checks if the trees are on the sidewalk.

Urban mobility characterizes the conditions for moving people and loads through urban space, acting on the well-being and safety of the population. Considering the safety aspect, Vision Zero emerges as a set of techniques that help reduce accidents with deaths or serious injuries. This work presents the application of concepts of safe mobility and Vision Zero in the city of Dourados-MS through an intervention project in a stretch of one of its roads. The elaboration of the project required two main stages: determination of the study section and characterization of the traffic elements of that section. From the implementation of the bike path on Avenue Presidente Vargas, the safety of cyclists will increase. In addition, the correction of signs and the solution of problems related to accessibility when crossing the medians will result in greater safety for people with reduced mobility. Thus, it was found that the parameters of Vision Zero are strong allies to ensure the safety of pedestrians and cyclists and prevent serious accidents from occurring in the city.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a treatment modality already used in several countries to treat invasive and topical diseases. In these treatments, the combination of a photoactive drug (PS), visible light, and molecular oxygen results in the formation of singlet oxygen, a type of highly reactive/cytotoxic oxygen species. Phthalocyanines incorporated into solubilization/monomerization systems are photosensitizing substances used in PDT, even given their high hydrophobicity. Its inhibitory capacity against microorganisms and its photodynamic action against various cancer cell lines have made it the protagonist of several scientific articles. This review article provides a brief overview of the concept of PDT and its potential use in the treatment of diseases - an emerging treatment modality in Brazil.

The present work brings a numerical, non-linear physical and geometric analysis using the Finite Element Method, of cold-formed steel channel with complex edge stiffeners, using the Ansys software. The simulations employed different magnitudes of initial imperfections and seeking to find the critical buckling loads and failure modes, observing local, distortional buckling and the interaction between both. The results obtained were compared with experimental tests, performed by Young e Yan (2002) and with the values proposed by the brazilian standard ABNT NBR 14762:2010, using the Direct Strength Method. The numerical analysis proved to be quite efficient, producing interesting results compared to the experimental ones, showing the reliability of this adopted method. The initial imperfections adopted showed that, for the same section, it was not the same magnitude that produced the best results, emphasizing the importance of your choice. The procedure of ABNT NBR 14762:2010 proved to be conservative for sections in which local buckling predominated and against security for sections in which the distortional buckling predominated.

The simulations employed different magnitudes of initial imperfections and seeking to find the critical buckling loads and failure modes, observing local, distortional buckling and the interaction between both. The results obtained were compared with experimental tests, performed by Young e Yan (2002) and with the values proposed by the brazilian standard ABNT NBR 14762:2010, using the Direct Strength Method. The numerical analysis proved to be quite efficient, producing interesting results compared to the experimental ones, showing the reliability of this adopted method. The initial imperfections adopted showed that, for the same section, it was not the same magnitude that produced the best results, emphasizing the importance of your choice. The procedure of ABNT NBR 14762:2010 proved to be conservative for sections in which local buckling predominated and against security for sections in which the distortional buckling predominated.","PeriodicalId":30414,"journal":{"name":"Colloquium Exactarum","volume":"65 21","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134901310","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
