Solutions involving artificial intelligence has become increasingly common in the last years because the increase of computer power and emergence of new technologies. These works include many humansneeds, like autonomous cars, segmentation of medical images or financial market predictions. Since accessibility is a very important area and the techniques like artificial intelligence and computer vision can make solutions to help disabled people, this paper is showing an aid that can detect, calculate and narrate obstacles to help visual impairment people. With a hardware compound by two webcams, responsible by to get different images from a scene, and a software that can processing the images, classifying, and detecting the obstacles, the system can informthe user what are ahead.

The advancement in technology in recent decades has provided many facilities for humanity in various applications, and facial recognition technology is one of them. There are several problemsto be solved to perform face recognition from digital images, such as varying ambient lighting, changing the face physical characteristics and resolution of the images used. This work aimed to perform a comparative analysis between some of thedetection and facial recognition methods, as well as their execution time. We use the Eigenface, Fisherface and LBPH facial recognition algorithms in conjunction with the Haar Cascade facedetection algorithm, all from the OpenCV library. We also explored the use of CNN neural network for facial recognition in conjunction with the HOG facial detection algorithm, these from the Dlib library. The work aimed, besides analyzing the algorithms in relation to hit rates, factors such as reliability and execution time were also considered

In this work we developed an algorithm for building panoramas with multiple height and width ranges. For multilinear stitching, images were initially placed in a matrix and partial panoramas with images from the same column are generated. To complete the final panorama, the columns were divided with the help of support points and the neighboring columns were stitched, being reassembled at the end of the process. The stitching was performed with a graph cut algorithm in conjunction with the Watershed algorithm.

With the increasingly frequent use of books in digital format, people search for the desired subjects in a faster way compared to the search in physical books. This work aimed to develop a computational resource in the form of an application for Android smartphones, which, based on an image captured from a page in a book, performs searches by keywords. The purpose of using the application is to help the reader to find the desired information quickly. We use Computer Vision techniques with the aid of the OpenCV library in the development of algorithms to perform segmentation, correction of the perspective of the book page image, identification and rectification of the wavy lines, recognition and character classification. The results shown were promising with a hit rate of over 88%.

Nowadays, with the evolution of technology, many areas that cover agriculture are making use of professional drones that have several tools that help in monitoring. With the advancement of Neural Networks, several researchers are choosing to use neural networks to detect objects. As the counting of bovine animals requires time and physical effort, in addition to being risky in certain situations, with the use of aerial images and neural networks, this activity becomes more viable and with less time spent. In this work, the focus is on detecting bovine animals using two neural networks, with aerial images captured from a drone.

The Brazilian vehicle fleet has been growing year by year. This increase in the number of vehicles brings with it some problems, such as congestion and an increase in greenhouse gas emissions. In almost all urban centers, parking outside private establishments is a difficult task, and the time spent on commuting is increasingly high. As an alternative to reduce the number of vehicles in circulation, the sharing of vehicles, as a kind of ride between people who make similar journeys, is gaining ground in urban centers around the world. With an eye on the financial and environmental benefits offered by this alternative, some companies are beginning to adhere to its use, groupingprofessionals who follow similar paths in groups that use the same vehicle. This work aims to seek ways to optimize the route that this group of professionals takes in each work cycle, mitigating vehicle maintenance costs and reducing fuel costs, which consequently reduces pollutant gas emissions. For customers, this can offer greater punctuality in the provision of the service and greater availability of professionals' time. At the end of the work, it is expected that an application will be developed thatperforms the route calculation in the best possible way, allowing its users to have a better use of time when using it.

Unlike most Western countries, which have a Latin-derived base alphabet, Japan has two syllabic alphabets called Hiragana and Katakana, and a Chinese alphabet, called Kanji. The vast differences in the writing of these Eastern alphabets to Western alphabets, Western alphabet-based OCR algorithms tend not to efficiently detect Japanese characters. This work contributes to a methodology applying digital image processing techniques, such as color range-based segmentation, edge detection and mathematical morphology techniques, to detect Japanese traffic informationalplates correctly the perspective and segment the characters contained in it. A convolutional neural network wasused to perform the classification of Hiragana characters contained in the segmented plates, withaccuracyof 94.37%.

Real Banknotes recognition through touch has always been a problem found by visually impaired. The advancement of technology makes it possible to solve this problem computationally. In this work, we present a method to perform Real Banknotes recognition from images using computational vision and artificial intelligence algorithms. The results show that computational cost and recognitionrate are acceptable for use in uncontrolled environments. The processing time for recognition of each Real banknote was 200 milliseconds, with an accuracy of 91.67%.

Brazil has a large fleet of vehicles running daily along urban roads and highways, which requires the use of some computational solution to assist in control and management. In this work we developed an application to detect and recognize real-time licenseplates with various application possibilities. The methodology developed in this work has three main stages: plate detection, character segmentation and recognition. For the detection step we used the YOLO library, which makes use of machine learning techniques to detect objects in real time. YOLO was trained using a dataset with plate images in different environments. In the segmentation stage, the individual characters contained in the plate were separated, using image processing methods. In the last stage, character recognition was performed using two convolutional neural networks, obtaining a hit rate of 83.33%.

The design of asphalt pavement structures is a process that involves the knowledge of variables that are difficult to predict and model.Sensitivity analysis applied to pavement performance prediction is essential to determine the most influential variables, and enable the optimization of design process. This study aimed to analyze the sensitivity of flexible pavements performance to variations in design parameters related to the thicknesses of asphalt layer, base and sub-base and resilient modulus of asphalt layer, base, sub-base and subgrade. For this purpose, a fractional factorial experiment was conducted, which had as output variables the accumulated damage in pavement structure, related to fatigue cracking and rutting in wheel wander. To obtain the accumulated damage, mechanistic-empirical design method was used, through PerRoad software. It was concluded that asphalt layer thickness isthe most sensitive parameter considering the distresses studied, having a higher sensitivity for fatigue cracking and a slightly lower sensitivity for rutting.
