Plagiarism is the act of presenting as an idea or work of another author without mentioning it as a source. This practice has been common in academia, especially with the ease offered by the use of the internet. This study aims to verify how students of the Information Systems course understand plagiarism and what possible actions to reduce this practice in academic work. The research was carried out through semi-structured questionnaires, using research and descriptive analysis. The results showed that students do not have full knowledge of plagiarism, not being able to identify specific types of plagiarism, the correct use of citations and the need to place direct and indirect citations of the sources used in their texts.

Socioeconomic factors can influence the quantitative aspects of services that are inherent to basic sanitation components. This study consists of the application of the Pearson correlation between drinking water consumption and socioeconomic parameters in order to measure and classify the influence of the municipal human development index and the per capita gross domestic product on per capita water consumption. Correlations were analyzed using data from 417 municipalities in the state of Bahia, Brazil from 2002 to 2016. The results demonstrate the occurrence of a weakly positive Pearson linear correlation between the human development index and water consumption and a weakly negative correlation between the gross domestic product and the per capita water consumption for most of the analyzed municipalities. The operational characteristics of the tools usedhere proved to be efficient, simple, and important for building studies aimed toward the planning and improvement of water supply systems.

This study aimed to analyze the feasibility of building a landfill in the municipality of Rancharia-SP, aiming to meet the standards established by the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS), reduce costs with the proper disposal of waste, reduce environmental pollution and avoid possible penalties imposed by the Environmental Company of the State of São Paulo (CETESB). A quantitative approach was carried out to verify the economic viability of investment alternatives, with the application of Economic Engineering methods, such as the Net Present Value (NPV) method. The information needed for the analysis, regarding the projections of solid waste generation by the municipality of Rancharia, the costs of outsourcing the proper disposal of waste, the costs of the life cycle stages of a landfill, were raised through research bibliographic and documentary. Thus,and considering that, so far, the municipality pays for the transshipment and the proper disposal of its waste at the landfill of a neighboring municipality (23km), it was concluded that the construction of a landfill in Rancharia -SP is the alternative more economically profitable, being able to present better returns with the realization of financing, whose rates are lower than the opportunity cost, as well as with the implementation of more efficient systems of selective collection of recyclable materials.

The São Jorge stream micro basin, located in the municipality of Tarabai-SP, is divided into rural and urban areas, with the presence of livestock activities, residential and commercial buildings, as well as a flour industry. Human interference has been modifying water resources, making it necessary to monitor them and identify negative changes. Thus, in order to analyze the water quality of this micro-basin, pH, chemical oxygen demand, turbidity, electrical conductivity and nitrogen were analyzed to check for possible disagreements with the legislation. The results were compared to CONAMA 357/2000, which allowed to find discrepancies in the sample with greater proximity to the industry (4). The qualitative analysis of the stream made it possible to understand how much interference in the micro basininterferes negatively in thequality of its water; they are often not visible or easy to identify, but they are present altering the characteristics of the water.

Tension and compression stresses are introduced in the concrete when Portland Cement are used in large volumes, inducing pathologies such as micro-cracks related to sudden changes in temperature. Sucrose is used as a cement hydration retarding additive and produce good results. In this sense, vinasse is a source of sucrose still little explored. Vinasse is a by-product of the sugar and alcohol industry, produced in large volumes, making it very attractive in this application. This study investigates the influence of vinasse on hydration in cement pastes. The total reducing sugars (TRS) and total soluble sugars (AST) as well as the sucrose present in vinasse was determined through Fehling method. The amount of 25%, 50% and 100% of vinasse were used to substitute water in cement pastes composition. The consistency, initial and final setting time and thermal variation during hydration of pastes were. The results show that the lower amount of substitution (25%) leads to an increase in the initial and final setting time, while larger amounts did not cause the same benefits. The calorimetry test confirmed the results obtained by the setting time test, showing less heat of hydration of the paste with 25% substitution of water for vinasse.

The inspection of pathologies in a building is necessary for the diagnosis of the state of conservation, the operating conditions, the prediction of lifetime and the prior identification of faults for possible maintenance projects. This paper identified and analyzed the pathological manifestations in the roof and ceramic coatingsof an educational building in Presidente Epitácio, São Paulo.The results indicated that the incorrect sizing of the rainwater system allowed the accessof humiditythat contributed to the early appearance of other pathologies. Moreover, wasfound ahigh degree of detachment of ceramics in the wet areas of the building, which requires furtherteststo determine their causes.

In Brazil, bananas are extremely important because they are the second most cultivated fruit after citrus. Therefore, this work aimed to perform the osmotic dehydration of the dwarf banana (Musa acuminata'Dwarf Cavendish')associated with microwave drying. The characterization of the raw material, dehydration and domestic microwave drying, drying kinetics, rehydration capacity and characterization of the final product were performed. As a result it was noted that microwave drying was satisfactory for drying. A moisture content of 29.38% was obtained, a pH of 4.77 and a rehydration capacity of 174% in banana without pretreatment and 32.33%, 4.83% and 120% respectively for osmotically dehydrated. The use of this combination proved to be a viable alternative in extending the life of the Dwarf Cavendish.

In the refrigeration industry, a large amount of water is used throughout processes, generating effluents that need treatment before release. The purpose of this work was to make a comparative study of three coagulants used in the treatment of effluents: Aluminum Polychloride (PAC), Aluminum Sulphate (Al2(SO4)3) and Vegetable Tannin, with the aid of a flocculant (Anionic Polymer) by analyzing COD removal efficiency and turbidity. Jar coagulation / flocculation tests were conducted to optimize the concentration of coagulants. It was found that the natural coagulant presented a small variation in the pH parameter, avoiding the use of chemicals for its correction. The results of turbidity removal percentages indicated a great potential for Tannin when compared to the other chemical coagulants.

The study of hydrological phenomena is an important source of information about the water behavior, providing valuable subsidies for water resources management at local, regional and global scales. In the present work, was performed a critical-constructive analysis of the products generated by digital satellite image processing of the Basin Hydrographic of Pardo, in the region of the Water Resources Management Unit-04 of the State of São Paulo. The analysis of the elaborated thematic maps demonstrated as main attribute of the delimited area for study the fact that most of its territory is composed of flat or gently undulating relief areas, as well as sub-basins that present high slopes, a combination responsible for directly influencing the accumulation of the flow of its water resources, which significantly
