Clinic garden survey in the Ngaka Modiri Molema district municipality, North-West Province : vegetation, management and social issue This study focused on the relationship between the environment, socio-economics and health aspects of rural Tswana communities and their clinic gardens. The results provided insight on species diversity and purposes, reasons for managing clinic gardens as well as available resources for improving and possible up-scaling to community gardens.

Interesting seabird parasites Mite parasites of the family Hypoderatidae were brought to our attention. These parasites were found in the pectoral subcutaneous tissue of White-breasted Cormorant, African Darter and Cape Gannet. SEM studies revealed the absence of a mouth opening, a small anal pore and long body and leg setae.

The effect of sport specific exercises on the visual skills of adult rugby players The purpose of this study was to determine if sport specific exercises will improve the visual performance of male rugby players. Twenty six adult male rugby players, aged 18-26, participated in order to evaluate the effect of sport specific exercises on visual skills. Significant improvements were seen.

Comparing the numbers of four bird species, House Sparrow, Cape Glossy Starling, Laughing Doves and Cape Turtle Dove in Gauteng and Limpopo Three of the species showed significant declines in one or both province. The Cape Glossy Starlings was the only specie to show an increase in both provinces.

Energy system contribution and correlates to performance in a 2000 m rowing ergometry time trial in South African rowers Exercise physiologists and coaches frequently base training objectives on physical and physiological demands of sports, including relative contributions of energy supply mechanisms during the activity. Oxidative and non-oxidative metabolic contributions to 2000 m rowing ergometry have been studied previously in rowers of various abilities and using different methods, but never on a group of elite athletes. The results of this study have practical implications for athlete profiling, sport classification and time trial performance interpretation.

Organic-inorganic hybrid materials from metal halides. The materials we study combine organic components and metal halides, leading to the formation of organic-inorganic hybrid materials. These materials retain and combine the desired inherent properties of both constitutional moieties, rendering them multifunctional. The effects of change in variables on the structural trends in the crystal systems were investigated. Characterisation was done employing single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction.
